quote author=wanaj0 link=topic=31554.msg1828273#msg1828273 date=1199724175] What they released is INTERIM and UNAUDITED account so nothing special about the timeliness. They actually timed the market. It is basically a management account and for UBA knowing the antecedents of Bello Osagie and Tony, I will have all my guards on!!! As per Orient, don't even get me started. The PP is for the subsidiary. This was previously packaged by Intercontinetal and it failed woefully. I mean this is worse than TRANSCORP!!! As per CHAMS, the only info I need is the threshold for return money. Bonus of 4 for 1 after stock split!!!!! Kai!!!!! na me and them. I am buying in at least 3 names. Aladekomo, beware OOOO

@wanajo,if one buys in 3 diff names how do u get the srocks back to b urs |

@ ALL Are there fundamentally sound stocks right now at the ideal price that one can put money into? Are there also stocks that one can take advantage of right now and cash out before the bears sets in? Waiting for ur responses, Thanks |

Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 6:23pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
@Wanajo On oceanic, last year and this year are very different oh.Last year as is the practice of most nigerian banks, many expected a coming po.They buy up their shares so they can release one bar graph on this day frontpage stating" 2,000,000 % appreciation in 20days". Afribank same thing, dormant for donkey months TS lifted and b4 u close eye, see new price before offer started. Even first Inland don put their graph for today paper. This year will be a different story for oceanic. Not that price will not grow oh.It will surely, but no matter as dem try run from listing that po shares,e go catch up with their stock.People must cash in on that thing. That's wen new opportunities will arise. This is just Q1 meant to psyche some people. You don still mention FBN again.I know FBN go good.E never good reach.Remain small. Some will certainly sell their 1 for 6 bonus and i hear some big certificates have been dished out.One more step still remain for am to good well well.Nobe say e no good now oh.But strike dey come. I would advice many to print copies of todays loosers chart and all this week. Some pickings are re-appearing. |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 6:24pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
enurayce: NB don pop up based on todays fall. |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by wanaj0: 6:32pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
FatherOF2: Fatherof2, i hear you. Note however that the shreholding structure of Oceanic makes it very easy for them to prop up the price. secdondly, the profit growth is beautiful. As per alst year, the price was going up even before the PO news. After the bonus adjustment, the price just hit the roof tops!!!! As per FBN, na Long Term me dey talk OOOO. Which chart you use discover FBN now |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by barge(m): 6:34pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
aktopgun: @ AKtopgun May is not exactly a good month considering relatively high prices of the first 7 months of the year. August-september might be a better month as the bears really run da market about this time. Ultimately a lot depends on investment criteria.just a reminder . |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 6:45pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
wanaj0: Nothing oh,these things must happen.E happen to GTB, e don dey worry FBN now,e go worry PHB, e go worry Zenith later. BONUS dey worry price oh. Even them know sef. They just time the release of bonus crediting now when them know say in like 3 weeks they'll release Q3 after everybody don do the bad thing them wan do the stock. Many cycles dey this year oh. |

Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Prince11(m): 6:48pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
Fatherof2. One more Gbosa for you. I bought UBA well before all this "scrambling", like you said way back on this thread, best time to buy is just before the new year or thereabout, Second, I sold my small pot of GTB right on time, my broker self still they wonder wetin dey happen, and with your advice and a bit of technical analysis, the next SELL is order is making its way to my broker. I am still in need of advice as per Universal Insurance PP (to buy or to let go). , Chams, that one no be problem! @Wanajo. Don't just leave us like that on this board again ! Your contributions/experience is HIGHLY VALUED, |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by FatherOF2: 6:58pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
wanaj0: All that one na just to wet appetite so that people go write more cheque for PO.Dem go use am boast. Oya i give you example. GTB no give bonus last year. E rise reach where e wan reach then fall. notin, Oceanic know say dem wan come market, every bank would love to sell its shares at high price so that there are fewer units running around. |

Happy new year to you all and all the best for 2008! Thanks for 2007 and this is the year of DIVINE EXCHANGE for you all. Your profits compared to what you would have invested in 2008 will simply be mind-boggling because you will enjoy unlimited FAVOUR. You guys have been a major major blessing to moi! Back from a well-earned holiday. Holidays are for families innit? I spend most of the year away from home so the least i could do is give family my undivided attention while i'm around. Now i'm back in base and i have been trying to catch up with the zillion bytes of info you have posted on this thread trying my best Somebody please tell me the stuff about CHAMS PP closing today is not true i have been reading the PP memorandumwindy wendy is not the only who's been busy this wekend! PAT for half-year 2007 about N648M is about x2 PAT for the whole of 2006 and those guys operate a virtual monopoly in the identity management/payments space so please tell me its joke that the PP has closed. I read somewhere that they will be doing an IPO after the private placement sometime this year but it might have become expensive then! Spring mortgageanyone heard about them? has applied to be listed on the NSE after concluding their PP if the application is succesful that would make only two of such companies listed in the mortgage sector in the NSE. Dont forget that so many insurance coys especially those that have life insurance businesses are positioning for a piece of the action in the mortgage sector. Watch the space! |

Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by Timmi: 8:34pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
To all, use the following posted January 4, 2008 as a guide in the coming weeks. Concerning FCMB, a study of the chart for the past one year shows the following: 1. It seems each high reached is 1.50 points higher than the other high; 2. Expects new high on this run to be at 22; then a new low to follow at 20 in approximately two weeks; 3. And expect a new high to be reached at 23.50+ in about six weeks. UBA versus OCEANIC For long time investors, I will put my money in OCEANIC because of the following reasons: 1. Their chart look incanningly similar; 2. EPS 1.81/1.23 - UBA/Oceanic 3. PE 23.47/24.45 4. Outstanding shares 11.29/11.6 billion 5. 2007 Turnover 109.5/74.93 represents 1.22%/1.68% growth over previous year 6 2007 Profit after tax 21.44/17.54 which represnts 20%/23% of turnover 7. From the above data, if both maintains similar profit growth of 20%/23% of turnover and turnover growth of 1.22/1.68 over 2007; Expect profit after tax in 2008 to be projected at 26.72/28.95 billion. In conclusion, in a year's time, Oceanic would have a trunover of 125.88 billion as compared with UBA of 133.59 billion and Oceanc would have declare a higher profit after tax; currently the share price of UBA is 49.99 while Oceanic is 36.13 and still dropping. FOR LONG TERM INVESTORS I WILL PUT MY MONEY IN OCEANIC AND KEEP BUYING MORE AS THE PRICE CONTINUE DECLINING. My two cent's (or should I say kobo) comment. |

@NBA, are you now using UBA stockbrokers? if you are what is their service like? @Easimoni, I beg who is your account officer at Lead? I am getting frsutrated with their services. No response to emails, even when I call , the guy keeps telling me he is not in the office yet at 7pm Naija time and that he will reply my email later - no show. All my orders in the last 3 weeks have not been executed - and no explaination. The last sum of money I paid into GTB took a week be4 they credited my stockbroking account and this was after calling many times oo. I am extremely fed up, I have alot in cash now and they just keep bungling up my opportunities to buy, its absolutely ridiculous. I still want to inject more capital but this is highly discouraging. @All I just needed somewhere to Vent. If not that the likes of FSDH are out of my reach presently? anyone with ideas? yodi |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by NBA(m): 8:45pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
bigjay01: I have the doc, was checking if it was closed as someone mentioned here today. I wonder how UBA Stockbroking staff no get the document yet but the good news (hopefully) is it is still open. |
Re: Stock Market Tips For Nigerians by easimoni(m): 8:49pm On Jan 07, 2008 |
@ yodi, My account officer is out till Friday and in the meantime, the service has gone south big time. My orders are also going unnoticed. Good thing I was almost cashless by Dec 31. I dunno who is helping you out (Niyi?) in the meantime, but you can email me at easimoni2004 at yahoo dot com and I'll send you his e-addy. Otherwise, you'll get no love out of them. |
