greetings to you all out here, you guys are really doing great with your contributions and advice. i have a little different problem. I have gotten an offer 4rm Bournemouth university and university of salford, while Bournemouth is i a small town, Salford is in a big city. and Bournemouth is highly rated than salford, i love to be in a big city. I am confused whether to go for the highly ranked school or for the school in a Big city. Please your candid advice and opinion will be highly appreciated. Thanks

The UK is a small place, the big cities are only a couple of hours away by train or Coach

The best thing to do is to ask the school in question, they know much better than i do, i don't want to give you misleading information.

Having the money in ur a/c for more than 28days is not a prob. Just the school 1st.

Break other questions down, i don't understand some of it and please use lower case.

I got to the the British council to apply for a student visa today and was shocked when i gathered that there have been series of refusals in the past few weeks owing to the UKBA inability to contact some schools for verification. I tried all the phone number of my schl written on top of my trnscript but none was functioning. An agent the advised that applicants should ge letter of attestation from their shcools that will contain the functional contacs, I just put forth this so that ppl should take note and work on this.
Meanwhile, i want tl know if it is advisable or neccessary to make the application thru agent such as PFL coz i met an agent who was talking as if one can not personally make the application. Pls can somebody tell me the danger of applying without an agent. Thanks

Don't listen to any silly agent, u can do it urself and many many pple have done it and got the visa. Be careful with agents.!!!

As long as ur are sharing the same family name with them then great, they can sponsor you.

Its better you transfer that money in ur account and leave it for 28days b4 making an application

I did not suggest that the money can't be in her sponsor's account, having it in her account wouldn't affect the outcome as long as her other documents are in order.

@Op, remember to get a sponsor's letter from ur my husband's parents to back up ur application.

Yes they may still have ur details from the old passport but since the reason for the refusal was NOT as a result of u submitting fake documents then u got nothing to worry about,
you have to tick yes where it asked if u have been refused visa before and give reason or reasons why you were refused, there is no point lying about it, they will still find out if you lied to them

All you should concentrated on now is to get all the required documents for the student visa, make sure that all the documents are original.

I also have a friend whose his dad boss wanted to sponsor her, he has provided all his bank act statement both naija and canada, will the uk high commission in nigeria allow hm to be the sponsor since they do not bear the same surname?
but the man has writen a letter to that effect and sworn an affidavit in the high court, he has even paid the deposit the school required.
please I needed your advise on this also.

Actually. Please Get a Letter from your School about how they can be contacted. some schools use old and non-functional numbers and emails. so try and get. because they want to be able to make a decision in 3wks and not more.
so I strongly advise ppl should add a means to which their schools can be contacted because IF THEY CANT VERIFY U WILL BE REFUSED AND IF THEY VERIFY AND UR DOCUMENTS ARE FALSE U WILL BE REFUSED AND GET A TEN YEAR BAN.
ALSO DO NOT ADD EXTRA DOCUMENTS YOU DONT NEED because THEY WILL SLOW DOWN THE PROCESS OF YOUR APPLICATION . YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT THE ECO IS A HUMAN BEING.

About proof of maintenance, my father is fully sponsoring my studies. He has provided me with the following as evidence of ability to sponsor me



Personal bank statement
fixed deposit(91 day) with the same bank
Fixed deposit (91 day) with another financil instituition


my dad has more than enough money in these combined statements to sponsor me. one of the fd matured on 30th june,and he asked his bankers to transfer some of his money into his current account as cash. the money in the investments hv been held for 91 days and can be discounted with just one days notice. we have a letter from the bank in support of this. can i go ahead and apply considering that my dad has held the money for more than 28days in the fixed deposit account,but transferred some into his personal account for my usage on 1july.

Its better u get the e-passport,it takes less than 2wks.
