Are dams really worth investing in? They cause environmental damage and we hardly see anyone doing what it's really meant to do.

Senseless People, na so e dey start. Them no dey learn. "Kainji don dey dry" annual bad news.
Why would u locate a dam in a landlock area accompanied with high temperature. Small time now them go dey complain say water dey dry thats why power drop. Why not build a solar power farm across the North since what u have in abundance is sunlight which is about 10-11 months in a year. In fact the north should be having 24hr power supply with the level of sun wey dey that area.

Your Dams are best located in the middle belt or south where there is abundance of rainfalls, several rivers an streams. Your best location should be the confluence town of lokoja where the two rivers meet which can never experience dryness cos of the two sources. Awon alainironu, kaduna refinery no dey teach una, drill oil for south and pay humongous amount to pump and secure the pipelines.

Nigerian politicians are nothing but Dumbf**ks!!!

I know it due to ignorance. Google why are hydro dams built in such area rather than area close to the ocean. Then you get technical answer from peole that created electricity.

Oga mi, i didnt mention the ocean, kindly read again. i specifically mentioned lokoja which is also a landlock area but has two great source of water coupled with rainfall and less intense sunlight.

Look at this one who knows nothing about dam project forming professor.
Do you know how many factors are considered before sighting a dam? It's obvious you don't, to your ignorant mind all that is required for a hydro dam is a river.
Talking about refinery in the north India boasts of the world's largest refinery, yet produces no crude oil. So go and insult them.
Try and and find out wisdom and reasons behind actions before you assume and disgrace yourself.

Nigerian politicians are nothing but Dumbf**ks!!![/quote] hydro electric dams waterfall can be recycled and reused for continuity. this water is artificially pumped for modern dams. so water is not the problem but maintenance by those building it.

seriously most Nigerian leaders are senseless, I see no reason why the dam can't be built in Lokoja or Lagos where there are abundant water

It's amazing how anything that comes from the north no matter how good it is its immediately ridiculed by our brothers from the other section of the cn3

Imagine some dunce coming here with very little knowledge of engineering and the situation on ground trying to form professor..... tiga dam at the moment is used to irrigate more than 5000 hecters of land imagine what it will be after the project is completed the 15megawatt is just an added bonus that may be used to power some light factories and power water treatment and irrigation pumps during the day and and power street lights during the night

Just yesterday I came across a thread of fayose ekiti governors stomach infrastructure almost everyone was praising the governor up and down

Well that's what we've come to expect from some of our southern brothers....

Peace out undecided

We are harnessing clean solar energy. Read your news before posting. There is a massive one under construction and financing schemes for small ones .

Under construction. Right? Since when? What is the projected Mw of the "massive one?". cheesy

Obviously not reliable enough to still need environmentally dangerous dams.

I know praise singing people can never see the damage being done. To the landscape their kids will inherit one day.

Dam in Lagos! Nobody does that sir. Dams are built on the juvenile profile of a river course, not the twilight ostensibly because the sheer gradient and flow energy is required for dam storage and dependable all year flow.

Too little time and space. Google is a faithful friend.
