Gullit Demands £100k A Month To Coach Eacles. by comofoma(f): 12:27pm On Dec 27, 2009
The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) must be prepared to shell out a hefty 100,000 euros (about N21.7m) after tax a month if they are desirous of securing the services of former Dutch superstar Ruud Gullit to succeed Amodu Shaibu as Super Eagles chief coach.

According to an informed source who is also a FIFA licensed agent, the former Chelsea and Newcastle United boss will be delighted to coach a team like Nigeria and therefore willing to lower his wage demand though the 100,000 euros a month may still be on the high side.

The former captain of the Holland national team who also had coaching stint at Feyenoord has been out of management since resigning from MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in August 2008.

The 1987 and 1989 World Footballer of the year is not the only high profile name being linked to the Super Eagles job. His countryman and current coach of the Russia national team, Guus Hiddink is also strongly linked with the job as well as Turkey boss, Fatih Terim.

Both names came up as a result of their availability following their inability to take their respective teams to the World Cup.
However, despite all the speculations, the Nigerian Football Federation has declared in clear terms that the position of chief coach of the Super Eagles is not vacant as the present coach, Amodu, has the backing of the Federation to continue in his job.

“Coaching, as in most sectors of football, has to do with results. We made a pledge to stick with Amodu and we’ll not go back now,” NFF boss, Sani Lulu Abdulahi had said in a statement on Monday.
