Jail DSS Director - Nnamdi Kanu’s Co-accused Tells Court by Nobody: 6:48pm On Oct 21, 2017
- An accused person in the trial of the leader
of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB),
Nnamdi Kanu, has filed a suit against a director
of DSS
- Bright 'Chimezie' Ishinwa accused the DSS of
court contempt
- He urged the court to jail the director of DSS
in Uyo command Akwa Ibom state
The fifth accused person in the trial of the leader of
the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi
Kanu, has asked the court to jail the director of the
Department of State Services (DSS) in Akwa Ibom
state.
Bright 'Chimezie' Ishinwa in a fresh suit filed before
the Federal High Court in Uyo, said the state's DSS
director should be jailed for his continued detention.
Ishinwa in his suit with suit number: FHC/ABJ/
CS/1046/2016 filed before a Federal High Court in
Abuja also accused the DSS director of disobeying
court order mandating his release.
He alleged that his continued detention by the DSS
is an act of contempt against the orders made by
Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu on May 24.

Ishinwa in a supporting affidavit depose by Ahmed
Sadiya said he was arrested by operatives of the
secret police in October 2016 and has since been
detained by the Uyo command of the DSS>
Sadiya said a Federal High Court in Uyo had in its
ruling ordered the
DSS to pay the sum N5 million to
Chimezie and his family as compensation.

The applicant also urged the court to make, "an
order committing the Director, Department of State
Services, Akwa Ibom State Command, Uyo, to
prison for having disobeyed the order of this
honourable court made on May 24, 2017, which
ordered the release of the applicant on bail and the
payment of N5, 000,000.00 (five million naira) only
as compensatory damages to the applicant.”
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the wife of Ishinwa
had asked the federal government and the DSS to
release her husband.

Charity Ishinwa in her plea called for the release of
her husband either dead or alive.
Charity alleged that her husband was arrested after
some security operatives attached to the DSS and
the Nigerian army invaded their residence.
She said she has not set eyes on her husband since
the invasion and arrest in August 2016.
