amuni buni eran Ibiye. Ibiye foju otun eran e fo tosi. Ibiye was a guy with blind right eye. He has a goat with a blind left eye. Someone now yelled; there goes the one eye goat. In yoruba it could refer to either Ibiye or his goat. Actually the goat was been refered to. Unintentionally Ibiye has been slighted. The proverb applies when you are slighted or been embarrassed due to someone else's fault. 3 Likes 1 Share |

"Ejo ngboro" = name given to someone that seem to be all over the town: Literally means snake or serpent in the street or in town. Given originally to Hebert Macaulay because he seemed to be seen all over the town almost simultaneously, as a politician and surveyor, Herbert Macaulay could be seen at Ebute meta now, someone would say "I just saw him down there in Mushin" and so on. It means he is all over the town. Remember he was the first Nigerian to own a bicycle, which helped his movement too. Ejo ngboro implies as swift as a serpent. |
