We all know inviduals from the political classes from every tribe and religion have banded together to see Nigeria ruined, THAT is the problem and it cuts across religion and tribe.
Story. You can keep deluding yourself with this overflogged line of comment by your people. Other nigerians know better as to which section and people of the country are hell bent on ruining nigeria, but yet want a united nigeria at all cost.

Nigeria has picked a fight it can never win. Switzerland has soft-pedalled with Libya, because Ghadaffi threatened to cut oil supplies and withdraw all their assets from Swiss banks. Nigeria on the other hand , is putting the lives of  thousands of Nigerians in Libya at risk. You cannot challenge  a devil and ask him to do his worst cos he already lives and breathes evil.

USA =====Once predicated that Nigeria will soon dis-integrate. Why was our ambassdor nor recall then?

LIBYA==== Adviced us to take the Pakistan and Indian example. Why are we now recalling our ambrassdor?

This stuff is just right where proponents of genuine solution (disintegration) wants it, right at the global stage, from a global (though notorious) figure.
The main cat is out of the bag. Nigeria has to address this issue. The international carpet is too large for Nigeria to sweep things under. The wind has blown and everybody in the international community has seen Nigeria's fowl a's's. Recalling an ambassador is akin to self delusion of international proportions. No one is deceived anymore. The Jos crisis was the trigger. This stuff won't go away now.

gaddafi is a despot and a tyrant at the best of times, but i think he might have a point here. we live in a country so diverse in culture and beliefs. we do not understand each other, and quite frankly, we do not want to try to. even on nairaland, it is common to see petty squabbles along tribal lines. in a country where people can just wake up and slaughter other human beings who have been their neighbours for donkey years, where these killers are shielded from justice by the short arm of the law, there can be no love. let us face the facts. we all do not gel together. if a peaceful and amicable split can be negotiated, i personally think it will be for the best.

Lets stop attacking the messenger as is usully the practice and face the message

And the message is that we should learn to live in a civilised
society, stop matchetting our children, women and men and tolerate
any criticism for our barbarism be it from a Ghaddafi or not and if we cant
accept the solution proffered we should not let it cause this much distraction.

There is an adage that says - "If i hit a mud with stick, whoever is stained should go and clean up"
Gaddafi is not saying what we've never heard before. Someone just has to speak out. Those senators crying fowl are only protecting their selfish interest and not that of the populace. Read thesame report in other newspaper, the guy from Edo state and some other senators really made some senses by telling other senators not to just ignore what Gaddafi said, but rather to check ourselves as a Nation and right every wrong.
Re: Nigeria Recalls Ambassador From Libya Over Gaddafi’s Statement by kelvin(m): 12:43pm On Mar 19, 2010
Our leaders need to get their priorities right. Everyone was thinking it, Gaddafi just said it. It is true as a leader he should have been more choicy with his words, but withdrawing our ambassador doesn't solve anything, as far as I can tell, it will only incite a rivalry with Libya(or Gaddafi).

The real issue of Nigerians slaughtered should be addressed, and Gaddafi should be shelved for later.
Re: Nigeria Recalls Ambassador From Libya Over Gaddafi’s Statement by DonKay2: 12:50pm On Mar 19, 2010
It's a pity that we have bunch of fools in the name of leaders. There is no year that passed without brutal killings at the north in the name of religious crises.  Yet we say " One Nigeria". The big question is ' What measure have the so called Senate, Executive and Judiciary taking to stop this inhumane act perpetrated by these barbaric northerners ?
Honestly, David Mark is the mad man here. Not Ghadafi. How long will they continue to go after shadows rather than the main substance? Where is their conscience? They are just worried about what Ghadafi said. If they don't know, the entire world sees Nigeria as a rotten country where there is no law and order with selfish, sick and mentally deranged leaders.
The earlier we learn to call a spade a spade, the better for us. That's only when we can see positive changes.

Re: Nigeria Recalls Ambassador From Libya Over Gaddafi’s Statement by lagerwhenindoubt(m): 1:08pm On Mar 19, 2010
I am simply astounded by the immaculate levels of stupidity demonstrated by the Nigerian Government.
Everyone knows Qaddafi for his peculiar eccentricity and his crude remarks. very close reminder of OBJ in his worst times. Yet our International diplomacy rules caused our Ambassador to be recalled!!    What has that achieved exactly, you cut your knows to spite your face, All that needs to happen now is for some non-essential highly-placed public official of a foreign country to make negative remarks about Nigeria and we'll have all our ambassadors recalled, What level of international trade do we do with Libya, how many Libyans do business here. We have more Nigerians living in Libya than Libyans in Nigeria,

Trying to make a statement that will make sense in this case is to simply ignore Qaddafi's remarks and trivialize it to the rantings of a comedian (at Best) not Mr David Mark calling A President of a Sovereign Nation A Madman, Libya has more clout than Nigerian on the Seat of the UN.

We cannot continue to make international faux pas noting that our current political, ethnic, religious and economic crisis is the stuff drama-comedies are made of.

Why dignify Qaddafi's comments by making a statement   and some barely literate Marmaduke (madueke)  will pout that he has nearly 20yrs in foreign policy matters.

I cannot understand why we sit back and let clowns turn the whole country into a circus  angry

Re: Nigeria Recalls Ambassador From Libya Over Gaddafi’s Statement by bisiaet: 1:34pm On Mar 19, 2010
I knew what Gadafi said will spring up a kind of diplomatic row. Actually the statement he uttered was a complete misguided statement, a leader talk with diplomacy and common sense been radical does not mean be nonsensical, Ghadafi missed it in that level. Beside this so called Gadafi was never a good friend of Nigeria ever before so his intention is very glaring and his ambition was to be the horn of Africa that is just his dream for long so let us ignore him. In Libya as of today is one of the country where Nigerian receive most of the brutal treatment and hatred in any part of Africa this is first hand information so what is he talking about he must be very sick.

Instead of strategies of stopping this senseless killings,

Our (sane) leaders are recalling our ambassador from a foreign country all because Gadaffi suggests that we should split. (Who is the mad man here).

Is cutting off the head the treatment to an headache? That Gadaffi's speech is even argued in the assembly, shows how idle and useless this our so called leaders are. cry cry cry

Its not about whether one believes that Gaddafi's statement is true or false, its about not meddling in sensitive internal affairs of nations with which one has diplomatic relationships. Gaddafi's statement is totally undiplomatic and reckless - recalling the ambassador is the correct protest move.

People are free to comment on whatever they want. After all people would have suggested the same thing about the Old Russia, or Yugoslavia, South and North Korea.

It might sound like being insensitive but it the truth, and we better start telling ourselves that. Do Nigerians not know that we are in a very loveless marriage. Do we not know that all is not well with our country, are we too scared to own up to this truth, and if some is bold enough to say what is obvious, we react childishly by throwing out our toys? Let us all grow up and deal with issue like adults rather than bury our ugly heads in the sand.

Nigeria does not behave like a country that is one full stop.

Yeah, and also like a child, we will soon go and pick up our toys with shame, by returning the ambassador to Libya
Re: Nigeria Recalls Ambassador From Libya Over Gaddafi’s Statement by OmoOlorun: 2:56pm On Mar 19, 2010
Ghadaffi may not be far from the solution. A little bit of panel beating to that statement and we have the perfect solution. Obviously, the Union is not working at the moment. It has taken the keen eyes of an outsider to diagnose one of our problems and proffer a solution. The other major problem is ethnicity. If we do not find a way of getting rid of religious and ethnic hold over our country, then splitting up along those lines may not be far from a solution.

Those calling for splitting Nigeria should learn from history:
Splitting India in 1947 caused a breakdown of law and order in which at least 200,000 people died. Some estimates say one million people were killed.

About 12 million people were left homeless and thousands were raped.

An attempt by the Igbo people of south-eastern Nigeria to secede in 1967 sparked a war which left more than one million people dead.
