It is not just a nigerian problem, it is a south-african problem, an Egyptian problem, an algerian problem and a developing world problem.

You try to twist things up un-necessarily.

You do know it's a problem across militaries in the continent including south-africa.

our radios are pretty good thank you very much.

aguby was going on about some mystical Nigerian supper cell phone jammer that has a 50km range, say SA does not have one. forgetting that that is so pointless since you can just get the network provider to block all his out going calls. O and he was braging about the Nigerian police and now is trying to turn a defeat against BH in to a massive victory.

The first development in armored vehicles designed specifically to counter the land mine threat were initiated during the Rhodesian Bush War; existing technology was subsequently inherited (and matured) by the South African Defence Force after 1980.[2]

MRAPs were first developed in the U.S. MRAPs are currently developed in over 50 countries across the world including Nigeria.

MRAPs are APC and nothing much. They are the most over-hyped piece of equipment since the end of world war 2.

Hamas insurgents k.illed 50 Israeli army officers from NCO to lieutenant to captain to major ranks in just 21 days last month in Gaza.

One Israeli officer went missing and never came back alive. The Nigerian officer is smarter so be came back home alive.

Israeli army is the best in the world, see their result against enemies mixed and disguised as civilians, same Israeli army and air force that defeated 5 Arab countries at the same time including mighty Egypt.

Last July Gaza war proved to the world that Nigerian army infantry is better than that of Israel, not in equipment, but in men and tactics.

.

yes, hamas sneaks across and then proceeds to target them using stealth. Very different to what happened in Nigeria. In Nigeria the battle was lost forcing a senor officer to run away alone dressed as a women.

Nigeria suffers from a lack of radios for each of it's personnel, the same thing as south-africa.

no country gives all the solders radios, the radio waves would be swamped. the section leader has one, then platoon commanders, extra extra extra.

Well, first of, Nigerian troops were never defeated by boko-haram.

Jammers are of different specifications, not only did we all see the long range nigerian police jammer( augaugust photo), we also have the jammers which are of a shorter range.

If you don't know an attacker, how can you block all his out-going calls? It makes no sense to have a network provider block all calls in an area, when you can deploy a jammer which effectively jams all radio signals from all networks in an area. It also makes no economic sense to have the networks block their service when the area where an event is to be held is a small space of land.

If he was intelligent he would have been able to

A win the battle
B if not win at least not loose
C if loose to see it coming and get a proper withdrawal done.

The fact that a Colonel was put in that situation is highly wrong. Yes sure a lone solder cut off from his unit is not uncommon. But a senor officer?
It is normal in the Nigerian army, soldiers will run like crazy without senior commanders screaming at them. NCOs don't have a proper role.

they where, just because the follow on force was able to drive them out does not mean that for a brief time BH gained grounded and forced a retreat. And yes it was a retreat, if you colonel needs to dress as a women to escape it stopped being a withdrawal. It could even be seen as a route but they the Nigerians did regain the town with reinforments so I say retreat.

And the long range one is A: not confirmed, that could be a pic of a Mobil HQ B: if true pointless and C: never heard of just turning of the cell tower, works just as good.

How do you think a jammer works, a cell phone jammer jams all cell phones.

All nato troops have a "personal role radio" issued to every infantry man serving in the field.

There is the "comms guy" who calls for air-support and any other assistance. This is different from the personal role radio issued to all troops.

rescan you see so many hand held radios among NATO troops is that there smallest unit is the fir team of 4 people so there sections would have 3 radios in them

Quote where I said NPF jammer has 50km range. I never said so. What I know is that it's a high power command center with many different types of technical functions.

It's communication systems are directly linked to satellite, see the satellite dish on board.

I won't be surprised if it does international communications, what range do you call that? How many kilometers range can you limit a satellite powered command vehicle?

Ordinary civilians disable stolen cars 100km away by satellite, my coworker travels to London and warms his car in New York by remote control.

You guys just envy Nigeria police because we have jammers that you can only dream about until year 2080 when South Africa may pray to buy one.

I'm reading this "creatively comedic" story for the first time from you. I'm not going to respond to the silliness of it either.

Long range, the NPF confirmed it, besides jammers are no big deal, the security services can deploy hundreds of jammers in virtually all nigerian cities, if the choose to.

B. Cell towers work for much larger areas, and you cannot just turn off a cell tower when you a holding an event in just a small part of a city.

Exactly, but in the area it is deployed.

Yes it is probably a mobile HQ

We have SAT phones, they nothing to brag about. The radios in sudan can reach SA so that seems far enough, don't you.

agubby said it is not so.

Why, just turn of the cell towers, can be done for free, jammers are ment to mainly stop bombs, so 50km range is really not needed.

result is the same, 50km is a massive range to jam,

Good to see you admit insurgents sneaked and used stealth to beat and damage Israeli army, the best soldiers in the world.

If it was Nigerian army, you will shout incompetence.

Most of the Israeli officers were infantry men that entered inside Gaza and got kill.ed on the streets by Hamas young men.

The Hamas underground hole was discovered and blocked by Israel.

Proves to you civilian insurgency is a tougher enemy than mighty Egypt.

South Africa will crumble if Boko Haram has 1 million hidden members spread all over South Africa living among normal civilians and also working inside SANDF.

I pity you cheesy
