agaugust: ...............F-7 JET Vs GRIPPEN JET...................

Grippen is a far better jet fighter than the F-7, but some areas people dont notice, the F-7 is superior to Grippen

F-7 jet has a combat range 50km longer than Grippen
F-7 gun/cannon is double while Grippen is single gun
F-7 climbs to 7,000 ft higher than Grippen

F-7 is easy and cheap to maintain for all time operation. Grippen is expensive to maintain and may need to be withdrawn from use into storage to save costs

F-7 has been dis-assembled into pieces and re-assembled by nigerian air force engineers on several times. No Grippen buyer has been able to dis-assemble and re-assemble it because it is complicated.

Both jets have the same speed

Nigerian version of F-7 is the latest and customized with modern electronics and hardware including
:

*Carries TWO 30mm auto-cannons (not ONE, as is the case with older versions)

*British Type 226 Skyranger radar: Ranging radar with a range of 15 km.

*British Type 956 HUDAWAC: This HUD has a build-in weapon aiming computer.

*British Type 50-048-02 digitized air data computer.

*American converter that is over 30% more efficient in comparison to the original Chinese converter.

*American Type 0101-HRA/2 radar altimeter with range increased to 1.5 km in comparison to the original 0.6 km of the Chinese radar altimeter it had replaced.

* British AD-3400 secured radio with range in excess of 400 km at 1.2 km altitude.

*Other improvement includes domestic newly designed CW-1002 air data sensor developed in conjunction with the western avionics, and WP-7B/WP-7BM engine.

*A totally different wing enabled the take-off and landing distance to be reduced by 20%, while increasing the aerodynamic performance in dogfights.

*Nigerian F7-NI version is a more advanced development than FG-7M, and even the older is about 40% more effective than MiG-21 in terms of overall performance.
It can use French R550 Magic and PL-7 Air-to-air missiles.

NAF F-7 jet is not the same as the 1980 F-7, jets. the Nigerian NAF version is the final development and with technology of about year 2005, that is 25 years more advanced than the original F-7. so for nigeria, its not a bad deal for =N= 15 million price for each F-7 jet.

I have a big surprise post for this forum on monday morning by 8am, i will post a hot news. i reserve it for posting monday morning

Now what utter nonsense its the first time I've heard that a relic 2nd generation jet is better then a 4th generation fighter

I will now dismiss your foolishness with facts.

1)The Gripen has a max rate of climb of 300m/s-54ft/min.
-The F-7 has a rate of climb of 155 to max 180m/s

2)The Gripen has a max speed of 2470km
-The F-7 has a max speed of 2120km

3)The Gripen has 800km a operational radius of 1550km in combat mode, and a 3250km with external Fuel tank.
-F-7 has a operational range of 1340km(external with external drop tank)

4)-The Gripen has a combat radius of 800km(without external tank). Here is the link
http://airrecognition.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=148

-The F-7 has a combat radius of 850km(459nmi, 528mi,) this is with 3 drop tanks. Here is the link
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chengdu_J-7

5)Gripen has altitude operational ceiling of 45000-50000m above sea level
-The F-7 has a altitude ceiling of 16,500-17,800m.

6) The Gipen uses a PS-05/A Pulsor-Doppler X-band radar which is based on the Blue Vixen radar, same as the Eurofighters Captor radar. The detection range is 120km(74mi), and can automatically track multiple targets in the Lower and Upper Spheres.

-The F-7 uses a British type 226 Skyranger radar with a detection range of 15km

7) The gripen has a Beyond Visual Range rating of 85%
-The F-7 has a Beyond Visual Range rating of 42%

Now if that figures makes the Chengdu J-7 aka F-7 a better aircraft then the Gripen JAS-39C, then its your problem.

One Gripen has the capability to hold its own against 3-4 F-7 interms of armourment and avoinics and that's a fact. Any credible airforce in the world would choose 4 Gripens over 12 F-7's any day in a air-to-air thread.

Now please continue with your stup*idy because everyone here can now asses for themselves who's talking nonsense.

This is the worst comparison I've ever seen on this thread please stop wasting my time on such bull.

[b] that's what we have been telling the south Africans on this forum that Nigerian military is buying a lot of brand new modern weapons and they will not publish the information for Nigerians to knows, then we have to be searching foreign sources on internet to get military weapons information about our own country. Nigerian military has tradition of secrecy. If you don't have access to UN international weapons sales log register you cannot know all Nigerian weapons new purchases.

we can only find a few of these new Nigerian weapons by hard work of searching other websites all over the world. Look at Nigerian army website, no single weapon information or photos, the picture gallery is empty and Nigerian army is happy to keep it like that deliberately.

Compare south African army website and see full detailed information and photos of all their weapons.

there are many unreported and unpublished new weapons of Nigerian military. I have some lucky finding of some of them, including the 3 mysterious fast attack navy gunboats that appeared at Lagos shipyard, 25 Romanian mobile rocket artillery systems, 25 extra palmaria mobile artillery Nigeria purchased after the first batch, and now many heavy and modern Chinese weapons are pouring every month into Nigerian military arsenal and armoury and no public information about them. I don't think anybody on this forum has full access to UN international weapons sales log register.

we shall continue to educate the public on this forum and also w.arn the south African military not to be received by their white masters, Nigerian military is too strong for them to defeat, we have many new weapons they don't know about and we have been showing them on nairaland so that they don't risk to try war with Nigeria, it will be south Africa's last war, after that battle, south African army will cease to exist above the ground, the go down below to the g.rave.

Nigeria, china, russia and Ukraine have been into some deep military shiits lately.. our engineers have been assisting in hardware production and our airforce has been getting various training as well.. Nigeria ditched the US for support and partnership... lol... heard we're getting 3 subs too(not confirmed ) grin Some officers of the Nigerian Navy are being trained in Pakistan on how to maneuver and repair submarines though

agaugust: ...................APACHE HELICOPTER GUNSHIP BEATS ROOIVALK.................

As a flying machine (but not as a fighting machine) the Rooivalk is first class.

But its Rooivalk avionics system, a magnificent achievement for local industry when it was developed and integrated in the late 1980s, is today as obsolete as a dinosaur’s brain.

This is a key reason in Denel’s failure to export the aircraft. No one will buy a warplane whose avionics system is based on 20-year-old computers.

The unit cost of the Rooivalk is about $40- million, this makes it as expensive as the Boeing Apache and the Eurocopter Tiger, the latest models of which have state-of-the-art avionics, and much more expensive than the smaller AgustaWestland Mangusta/Mongoose, and the Russian Mi-24/35 family.

weblink source http://www.engineeringnews.co.za/article/what-went-wrong-with-the-rooivalk-2007-06-08-1

Mi-35 Hind may also be rated superior to Rooivalk because Hind simply because has been battle tested for over 20 years in its various new versions, the Rooivalk has zero battle testing, never fired one shot in a real war.

Now this is what I call embedded naïve syndrome.

Now why did you not put the 2013 report from engineeringnews on the 2008-2012 upgraded Rooivalk or is this just your why of proving a non existing point.
http://m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/saaf-takes-delivery-of-final-rooivalk-helicopter-2013-03-14

Now why don't you also tell us that DENEL currently has a contract to upgraded the M-35 with the latest BVR and avionics systems.

The ROOIVALK has undergone extensive combat upgrades for more then two years with its Block 1F upgrade program, it was only completed late last year September 2012.

There were more then 130 modifications done since 2008-2012 (costing more then $137m), to improve its weapons systems, on board computer and overall avionics capabilities

south Africa is wasting its time and money to modify and upgrade a half d.ead Rooivalk helicopter gunship project. You cannot compete in international market against Russia and America. South Africans always over- rate themselves, that's why they always get disappointments and final defeat.

Try learn to walk before you run. Nigeria is very careful about jumping too fast in weapons marketing, try learn from us and build cheaper and easy to maintain weapons that can compete with China because the Chinese are selling billions of dollars weapons right under your long nose here in African market.

not even one single Rooivalk helicopter has been sold for many years and NOBODY will buy this bad market product you are boasting about. Rooivalk is more likely to become d.ead than alive.

Go market it in your south African village. Your Rooivalk is a big international failure and all the noise you make here cannot sell it. Put half of it in storage like your money wasting Grippen jets.

7 African Countries With the Highest Military Strength and Fire Power
Posted by Answers Africa Staff on Jan 10, 2013

The Global Fire Power ranks countries of the world every year according to their military strength and fire power. Up to 40 different ranking tools and parameters are used such that a smaller country with good military intelligence competes favorably well with a highly populated country with lots of great foot soldiers. In this post is this list of 7 best countries in Africa with the highest military fire power and strength.

African Countries With Best Military Strength and Fire Power
1. EGYPT

Egypt is a country in the north of Africa with a staggering population of 83 million people. and slightly over half of this population is available manpower and 35 million people make up those who are fit for service. More than 1.5 million individuals reach the military age every year and almost 5000 tanks, Egypt is a force to reckon with when it comes to Africa. Having 200 helicopters and 863 military air crafts, 28 mine warfare, 84 serviceable air ports and a yearly budget of over $4bn on pumped into defense every 365 days make Egypt one strongest countries in Africa.

2. ETHIOPIA

Ethiopia has a population of 84 million people. It is Africa’s oldest independent country and its second largest in terms of population. Ethiopia has found a way to transform her population into a military stronghold in Africa. With a man power of 34 million people, 24 million of this population fit for service and almost 2 million people reaching the military age every year, the country is one of the strongest in Africa. Ethiopia has over 300 tanks and 1200 armored vehicles, 147 air crafts and 68 helicopters to hover around any country plotting any form of invasion and of course there is almost $300 million defence budget to take care of things every 365 days.

3. SOUTH AFRICA

Republic of South Africa, is an African country located at the southern tip of the continent. South Africa is the 25th largest country in the world by area and the 24th most populous country with over 51 million people. When it comes to military power, South Africa has got what it takes to be among the top 7 countries in Africa strong enough to be recognized. Half of South Africa’s population are within the manpower class; 14 million are fit for service and almost a million are getting to military age annually. South Africa has 250 tanks and 1590 armored fighting vehicles; 240 rocket projectors and a similar total number of air crafts. 4 frigates and 3 submarines keeps the shores safe. There is almost $5 million pumped into the defense budget every year to keep the country safe.

4. NIGERIA

To whom much is given, much is expected is the case of the most populous country in Nigeria. Located at the shores of West Africa is the country that gives home to a staggering 160 million people. With the available manpower of 73 million people, there are 40 million people who are fit for service and 3.5 million people reaching the military service year on a yearly basis. There are 363 tanks and more than 1,400 armored vehicles. Nigeria has 294 air crafts and 84 helicopters than can hover her skies when they are called upon. There are 53 serviceable air ports and lots of labor force (up to 50 million) people. The large population is kept safe with a yearly budget of $2.2bn.

5. ALGERIA

Algeria is a country consisting of 48 provinces and 1541 communes. It is the 34thmost populated country on earth with a population of more than 37 million. More than 20 million people make up the manpower and up to 18 million citizens are within the service year. The country is largely financed by oil and Sonatrach, the national oil company, is the largest company in Africa. Algeria has the second largest army in Africa and in the Arab World, after Egypt, and has Russia and China as strategic allies, and arms furnisher. 672,000 individuals reach the military age annually. Algeria is equipped with more than a thousand tanks, 1800 armored fighting vehicles, over 400 air crafts, 136 helicopters, 3 submarines, 12 coastal crafts. With a defense budget of over $8bn, Algeria will continue to be among the African countries with the best military strength.

6. KENYA

Kenya is a major hub in the East Africa. Officially called the Republic of Kenya, the country has a population of about 43 million residents. When it comes to fire power, Kenya is a force to reckon with. The country has enough military strength to afford to always send some on a peace keeping mission in other African countries. Almost 20 million people make up the country’s man power and more than 12 million of these are fit for service. 839,000 reach military age every year. Kenya boasts of 186 tanks, 30 self propelled guns, 148 air crafts, 78 helicopters, 194 serviceable airports and a defense budget of over $5bn to keep her in good shape.

7. LIBYA

The 2011 Libya revolution has placed question marks on the military capabilities of a country with population of just over 6 million. Almost 3 million citizens are fit for service and just about 116,000 people reach service age each year but these small numbers correlate quite oppositely to the artillery and ammunition the country boasts of when compared with other African countries. Libya boasts of 500 tanks, 2,500 armored fighting vehicles, 400 self propelled guns, 800 rocket projectors, 1050 potable AT weapons, over 600 air crafts and 121 helicopters and $880 million pumped in to defense every year.

I do have to agree with my compatriot agaugust. Why has the south african rooivalk failed so much. Apart from south africa and maybe zimbabwe, I do not know of any other country in africa that use the rooivalk or even the lynx for that matter.

An intelligence officer here in nigeria once told me that the south african helos do not have good nor dependable technology.

Your MRAPs are very popular, uganda, kenya, burundi have lots of them. Same cannot be said of your helos. South africa is the only country that flies them.

Please do not compare the MI-35p or MI-24V to the rooivalk, it's an insult to the russians. The MI's are battle tested and proven helos, more than 60% of the countries in the world fly them. It shows how good those birds are.

The Gripen is many years ahead of the J-7 we use in nigeria. However it is silly to compare the rooivalk to the MI-35p. The MI-35p is light years ahead of the rooivalk and a true helicopter gunship.

We have already paid for 12 L-15 falcon light attack/ trainer jets. Now, the L-15 falcon is an improvement on the russian made YAK-130 jets. We all know the yak-130 is a great bird.

Getting the L-15 light trainer jets points to one direction, it is highly probable, if not a fact that we would surely be getting the deliveries of either the SU-27 or SU-30 multi role fighters. However we would have to wait and see what happens.

My dear global fire power is not a credible source and there's many reasons why most of us here don't rely on them for analysis, because global fire power take into account obsolete outdated weaponry as well.

MsDarkSkin: Like i said Egypt. tongue
you guys can stop now.

Egypt is not as strong and cannot function without the $2bn they receive from US every year just to keep them as a satellite US puppet in North africa and as a buffer between Israel and Arab states in the region. More then half of Egyptian all those tanks, helicopters and planes aren't even serviceable and is its old obsolete systems anyway.

Did your global fire power tell you that Ethiopia got there *asses kicked by there poorer cuzins Eritrea twice in the last 30 years. Did your global fire power tell you that Ethiopia doesn't have a navy and that SA and Nigeria's military budgets are 3 times larger.

Now if you don't mind please go to the sexuality section *Kails*

Henry120: I do have to agree with my compatriot agaugust.

Did you see me disputing that the Mi-24/35 is bad. Yes the Mi-35 are battle tested but we can also say that the Eurocopter is better then the MI-35

If the Mi-35/24 is better and the Rooivalk is so bad why did the Russians use Denel's aerospace- Kentron to upgrade its systems.

By the way the Rooivalk like the apache is true AH-helicopters unlike the Mi-24/35 is a dual purpose plus the Rooivalk is a far superior flying machine. The Russians has a far superior helicopter then the Mi-35 currently in service.

By MRAP's aren't the only exports from SA.

The Oryx is a battle tested helicopter and has been used in many conflict zones all over africa including hot extractions in DRC, so don't even question there capabilities.

Henry120:

The Gripen is many years ahead of the J-7 we use in nigeria. However it is silly to compare the rooivalk to the MI-35p. The MI-35p is light years ahead of the rooivalk and a true helicopter gunship.

The mi-35 is not a true gunship and how did you come to that conclusion is it based on the current avionics and weapons systems upgrades on the Rooivalk and Mi-35 or did your "intelligence" officer came up with that idea.

I won't waste my time with people who don't know the difference between the AH and a MI-35p

There is absolutely nothing in that link to show that my compatriot is either naïve or lying. He(my country man) made a conviction which was/ is actually correct.

Now why don't you also tell us that DENEL currently has a contract to upgraded the M-35 with the latest BVR and avionics systems.

Please where is a link to prove this claim.

The ROOIVALK has undergone extensive combat upgrades for more then two years with its Block 1F upgrade program, it was only completed late last year September 2012.

There were more then 130 modifications done since 2008-2012 (costing more then $137m), to improve its weapons systems, on board computer and overall avionics capabilities
.
http://itweb.co.za/mobilesite/defenceweb/home/item_id-29859/

Has it been tested in battle, NO. You cannot come here and tell me about upgrades on paper and the machine in real life would not be able to perform in battle.

The current Rooivalk is a match for M-35 and AH-Apache.

I'm sorry man, but this is not true.

Now update your links before u post foolishness.tongue

If you really working for a military consultancy company(WHICH I DOUBT) you would've known about the current state of the ROOIVALK

tonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetonguetongue

The current state of the rooivalk is that it is a junk, a piece of scrap metal your neighbours in southern africa would not even look at, talk less of buying.

Here is the link of DENEL's upgrades on the Mi-24/35

Now this is the third time I posted that link here and it seems you stup*id fools have a nag of bringing up old sh*t this just shows how narrow minded you fools are on this threadangry

Henry120: We have already paid for 12 L-15 falcon light attack/ trainer jets.

Where's the link of the SU-27/30 purchase, and the L-15. And don't give me beeagle because there's only mention of your NAF's interest of acquiring the L-15, September last year.

agaugust: south Africa is wasting its time and money to modify and upgrade a half d.ead Rooivalk helicopter gunship project.

I beg to disagree with a few point of yours. The rooivalk is a good helicopter, though nt to international taste! The SA guys overate the weapons, thats an established fact, the tried marketing their goods in the international arena when the didnt try getting the african market first [ especialy nigera and ethiopia as at then] bt the chose to play white guys, and the got isolated.

snydergp:

F00LISH south african, your country's educational system produces men who have difficulty in using their brains well. read my post again on page 107 or read the quote of it in your own post on this page 108 top.

i never said F-7 is better than Grippen, i clearly said at the introduction to my post that....i quote and repeat my words below

agaugust :

Grippen is a far better jet fighter than the F-7, but some areas people dont notice, the F-7 is superior to Grippen

F-7 jet has a combat range 50km longer than Grippen
F-7 gun/cannon is double while Grippen is single gun
F-7 climbs to 7,000 ft higher than Grippen

y.our brain cannot do good analysis and mathematics, thats why you spoke with no.nsens.e
the wikipedia combat radius for F-7 is with drop tanks and it leads grippen, but grippens ferry range is with drop tanks and it leads F-7.

i decided to avoid the confusion of drop tanks and i went to another respected websit to confirm both the F-7 combat radius and it is same 850km as i posted and the Grippen combat radius is same 800km as i posted. the website is airforce-technology.com and it is exteremly trusted and reliable here in america. the weblink reliable source for that is,

http://www.airforce-technology.com/projects/j7f7fighteraircraft/

other data i posted are also very correct, speed is the same, and F-7 climbs higher (NOT FASTER, GO AND LEARN ENGLISH LANGUAGE) than Grippen and that is what is technically called service ceiling you bush man of south african village.

i quote, copy, paste the wikipedia data below. dont waste my time snydergp, i am more intelligent than you are, so keep quiet.
