JF-17 has HMS/D meaning HMS plus HMD.

Then both are the same, depends on use of English language.

The HMS on a 2014 JF-17 is NOT the same old rudimentary-elementary HMS that SAAF put on Mirage jet many old year 1970 ago.

Nope the source YOU GAVE again clearly states that there is a difference one is for targeting and the other for targeting and display of hud info etc. Plus the jf-17 source you gave also states that the hms/d is only used for targeting
