@zaputt as regards the internet broadband need, Glo already has a fibre link dwn to Nigeria but i wld nt knw wat rate its going for, by next year or so, mainone shld be landing their cable, i suggest u cn tlk to them directly for ur broadband need and somehw 5Mbps might jst be too much for a 10-15 people call centre |
Re: Outbound Call Centres In Nigeria by AngieFan(f): 9:53am On Mar 24, 2010 |
Hi Zabutt A call centre would offer plenty of job opportunities for young Nigerians in Nigeria but perhaps you should focus on the local businesses first before trying to provide a service to the big multinationals in the West. I say this because I just can't see big companies like BT, British Gas etc allowing their customers in the UK to freely hand out credit, debit card and other personal identification details to Customer Service Operators in Nigeria. That is the sad truth of it I'm afraid. Such companies got enough flack when they opened up call centres in India and Pakistan and even today these call centres in Asia have not grown as fast as they should have because some some people in the UK and US simply refuse to deal with them. Plus none of these companies are looking to get sued to death if they misuse an individuals personal data. This is why as NaijaCutee put it, 'Trust is paramount' in industries like call centres. Nigeria has a long way to go but they should try crawling before running; Start locally first and see how it goes from there. |

@ All To all those blaming Naijacutee, you're all wrong She nailed it on the head, we are only know for fraud, fraud and fraud, am not saying many Nigerians haven't excel in various field but the majority is suspected for that Do you know ,how many companies i called in the last 6 months and when they hear country of origin, Nigeria, the conversation tends to end in 50 Secs, we need to change and only good character can make the younger ones survive,if they want to compete with the rest of the world. As for our Govt, the Biggest joke of the century. @Poster, You can make it, as long as you don't pay anyone you don't know and if you married to a Nigerian, she would help you to beat those 419, i would send you a mail, am interested in setting up something like this in Italy. Good luck in providing more Job and reducing Illegal immigration of underage to Europe. Styles NB: Someone mentioned Asian and Lebanese supplying Yams to Nigerians in US and UK, you took word out of my mouth, what do we export to the world, Girls to Italy and Boy to Austria (Drug mule) |

maddock:This is the DAFTEST post i've read all year. . . . Even thoroughbred nigerians who are well wired into our society still get scamed. Multinational companies with loads of educated experts still fall victim. Whether you've got a nigerian wife or adopted yoruba kids it dont matter. It's prolly ignorant folks like you who think scams only come in form of ''inheritance letters''. Many innocent people just out to conduct legitimate business get duped even after conducting investigations and all seem legit previously. Like naijecutee said, if the negatives outweigh the positives then its no good. No company succeeds without a viable business plan which also includes location and potential customer trust and satisfacion issues. If you keep denying the nigerian problems then thats your business those of us who are objective and sensible would take it into consideration when putting together a business proposal. . . Last time I checked, it wasnt by force to be sensible or is it? Caporegime:I fail to see what meaningful thing you've contributed to this thread. . , .such behaviour is characteristic of hungry vulture-like scammers who troll the internet seeking who to defraud. The eyes of a thief shines brightest in the darkness. . Boy, your eye dey shine! |

I wonder the kind of world we live, why are people who tell the truth always persecuted, we like lies, we live in lies and tell lies! @Styles2009 You are very correct the day I let people know where I come from the relationship begins to dwindle its that bad. What you guys don't know is that those persecuting naijacutee, tudor etc, are most likely people that make a living in this scam biz of a thing. @Ibabalol The falacy of quick generalization is worrying you |

Re: Outbound Call Centres In Nigeria by maddock(m): 12:41pm On Mar 24, 2010 |
rich_john: That relationship would definitely begin to dwindle when its so obvious that you dont have anything to offer them. Which truth are you talking about, has CNN,Ophra and the rest of them not done enough damage to our rep why add to it. Why dont the business partners of the dangotes, adenugas, tinubus etal all run from them when they discovered they are from Nigeria.Personally I am not persecuting najiacutie but I just felt she should not be on the vanguard of those debranding Nigeria as a country of fraud. Anybody that is web intelligent knows what is being said about Nigeria and Nigerians on the web. The poster is into IT and internet related stuff, so do you honestly think he does not have enough information about Nigeria considering the fact he is even married to one and has properties here. So why not spare him all that details. As for tudor I have never heard you post anything sensible or intelligent in this forum so am not surprise. |
Re: Outbound Call Centres In Nigeria by chase4(m): 12:49pm On Mar 24, 2010 |
It is a shame how we run ourselves down. Do you guys know why the East(especially China and India) is doing well? They have come to believe so much in themselves that anyone you meet in these countries from a cab driver to a dry cleaner markets their country. Yes they mention fraud but only in passing, and those who deal with them know how fraudulent these people are. In India, a 1+yr old readily shouts the slogan "I love my India" or "India is great" and believes it. We are all meant to market Nigeria and in the art of marketing, you bring your strengths first followed by the solution to what your weaknesses are. You don't tear your products to shreds unless in the name of honesty. Shame to you Naijacutee, and to you too Tudor. We waste our time blaming our leaders when we don't even believe in ourselves. I don't blame the Ghanaian's who come here to direct traffic to their country, they have seen the loophole. |

@ tudor I think you are all sick in the head. . . . Did Naijacutee in any way LIE?? Has she not spoken the barefaced truth? The poster is looking to set up a BUSINESS and all factors MUST be considered! That you deny there's a high risk of being defrauded in Nigeria doesnt make the problem go away. This is purely a business matter and no time for misplaced patriotism. The op asks for business advice and the WISE thing to do is to present the situation as it is on ground, its now left to the investor to decide whether he's got efficient checks & balances to checkmate fraud to reasonable level or better still prevent it all together. Its only a fool that'll consider opening a business in afghanistan without considering security likewise setting up an internet business in nigeria without considering fraud. If the op were to lose his investments you jokers with your Green white Green vests would be nowhere to be found rathet y'all would be at home typing ''o ma se oo, better luck next time'' while the poster bites his fingers. Thank you my sista. You took the words right out of my mouth. You have also made my day. Stay blessed, my sista. |

maddock:Oh yes! Lets blame CNN and Oprah winfery, . . I went to a cyber cafe in mushin the other day and saw CNN staffs sending 419 emails, yhey thought i didnt know they were CNN employees but i'm way too observant. Also Last sunday, i visited EFCC prisons for prison ministration and was shocked to discover all the inmates were Oprah's cousins. Thank you mr maddock for exposing the root of Nigeria's problems. . .you are soooooo intelligent. Would you accept an OFR or GCFR honour? .Anybody that is web intelligent knows what is being said about Nigeria and Nigerians on the web. The poster is into IT and internet related stuff, so do you honestly think he does not have enough information about Nigeria considering the fact he is even married to one and has properties here. So why not spare him all that details.Mr ITK, the poster ain't some arrogant and pompous noisemaker like u. He came here humbly asking for ADVICE. NOWHERE in his post did the op say ''i know all already, spare me the details'' or ''i want only the good stuff only''. Stop being arrogant and dictating what the poster wants to hear or not, or are you the op? If you want to open a call center too and only interested in hearing ''the good stuff'', you can very well open your own thread and we'd all be happy to indulge you. Last time i checked, it was perfectly legal to tell a slowpoke sweet things to make him happy, infact, it's humanitarian . |

chase4:I love Nigeria too but we have to tell ourselves the cold-hard truth. If you only market your strenghts and fail to deal with your weaknesses, they'll one day destroy u. We waste our time blaming our leaders when we don't evenlol i dont think we lack ''self-blief'' in nigeria i.e believing in ourselves the problem is can I believe in YOU not to dupe me?? If we all acknowledged the problem and stop these shady characters from perpetrating fraud by creating awareness which includes warning potential investors of the threat, this will go a long way in reducing people who fall for such scams as everyone would be on alert. These 419 basterds thrive on ignorance and thats exactly what you guys are advocating by asking us to pretend the problem aint there. |
Re: Outbound Call Centres In Nigeria by Tudor6(f): 4:23pm On Mar 24, 2010 |
Dis Guy:I beg to differ, there is no way you can discuss any internet related business in Nigeria without talking about fraud. They are tightly interwoven and cannot be classified as off-topic. Its all part of helping the op make up his mind. As for the emails. . .i no sabi oo |

Will the outbound call center not require a lot of power from PHCN which I believe is the main discouraging factor? https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-418834.0.html |

Re: Outbound Call Centres In Nigeria by zabutt(m): 5:08pm On Mar 24, 2010 |
WOW, I have received nearly 20 emails since yesterday asking more information about the call centre. First of all, some people mentioned about customers trust on people calling from Nigeria etc etc etc. There is a little perception about the Nigerian fraud (419) or what ever you want to call it. But being Nigerian, you feel it more becuase you know more about it. Scammers are all over the world, and if people stop doing business in any country because of the reputation, then SHELL , EXXON, Microsoft etc will not be in Nigeria. Also some mentioned that customers will not be comfortable talking to a person in Nigeria. But how would they know that the person they are talking is in Nigiera and not in UK. Because when the sales agent calls, he/she introduces himself/herself calling from ALLIANCE MAREKTING LTD, there is no mentioning of UK, Pakistan, India or Nigeria whatso ever. On another note, what about the banks in Nigeria? Do they employee Nigerians or all their staff come from different palent? How many banks have been scammed by Nigerians working in their banks. If you want comparison, there are more scams by employees in Indian and in Pakistan than in Nigieria. Nigeria is a very big player in Africa people should be proud of it. I can't say any more. I must thank all of you who advised me on various aspects of the business. I also got emails from people who told me that they have powerful connection in Nigeria. I know couple of governors in Nigeria, chairman PDP lagos, Economic advisor of Musa yaradua and couple of other high ranking politician. I dont need them to help me setup a small call centre as there is no oil or gas there |

general knowledge about Nigeria-Pakistan relationship A lot of senior Nigerian defense staff is being trained in Pakistan There are over 400 Nigerian students in my city in Lahore studying engineering and medince at (univeristy of engineering and technology) and at King Edward Medical college. Last year Pakistn exported goos to Nigeria worth $23 million dollar and Nigeria exported goods to Pakistan around $10 million dollar. Two years ago, Pakistan even offered to help setup a civil nuclear power plant to overcome the electricity crisis but it was shelved under US pressure, |

thank you zabbutt for lecturing them.now, with your comment, they must be ashamed of themselves.our mindset is the problem, not politicians. whatever, you don't say that your country is not good for outsiders to come to.i do not believe in nigeria as a good idea.it is more a mistake.but ,we still do not have any other country.i know about a lot lot of fraud coming from russia, romania, turkey, albania and many others.i have seen fraud in the uk.fake cigarrette for example.i have also seen fake loans hawked to me here in the uk.yet,i know the uk is a very good country. we are corrupt-yes.and we are liars-yes(most of us)!but businesses can still survive in nigeria.inasmuch as you are realistic and not greedy yourself. i can narrate a personal experience here if people don't mind. |
Re: Outbound Call Centres In Nigeria by zabutt(m): 5:49pm On Mar 24, 2010 |
thank you ola for agreeing with me. Please read the following report that has been compiled by Frost & Sullivan about the contact centre industry in Nigeria http://blog.taragana.com/pr/contact-centre-services-to-take-off-in-nigeria-by-2015-finds-frost-sullivan-9246/ The industry is going to be a huge success in Nigiera in the coming years. I was a patner with a call centre company called Shine utilities Ltd that went into liguidation last year. At the peak time, the company has 35 employees in London selling electricity/gas with turn over around £1.9 million and net profit were nearly 20%. I have been in this busines for the last 8 years and know it first hand like a mother knows her child |

@ zabutt God bless you for making my day, this is best gift i have ever gotten from someone i dont know. @ tudor See your life, if i were you i would immediately commit harakiri. key learning Point: This is to teach you all a bitter lesson to believe in your country inspite of its weaknesses,i am so tired of people seeing the cup as half empty instead of half full.Nigeria being bad and corrupt is stale news, so do we all kill ourselves because a few bunch are giving us all bad names. All genueine business chap this is an opening for you guys unlike the bad belle people in this forum tudor etal |

There is more to come in Nigeria I was just speaking to a friend of mine in Pakistan and they are trying to bring masey ferguson tractors to Pakistan. These tractors are assembled in Pakistan are priced around 1-1.5 million Naira. When my friend researched last month in Nigerian, the tractor companies in Nigeria like John Deere, Caterpillar, Zetor, there prices are 2-4 times what you can get in Pakistan. In Pakistan, government forces the tractor manufacturers to keep the prices lower or go somewhere else where people can afford to buy expensive agriculture tractors. And guess what, all the manufacturers are selling at lower prices in Pakistan. |

maddock No games - no big talk - pure business I am not on this forum unlike many others so called enterpreneurs who will ask to send me the email and I will sell you my business plan. My business plan is open to anyone wishing to setup a call centre. In my previous post, I even put down the link to download feasibility reports etc to help those who are serious about doing a long term business. It is a specialised business and take a lot of efforts and energy to make it run. But the rewards are huge. You need no scientists or engineers to make it happen. You need people who can communicate effectively, a bit of persuasion power and a commitment to make it happen. |
