JUST ANOTHER WORTHLESS NIGERIAN UNIVERSITY CHURNING OUT HOODLUMS who go on to graduate with degrees in ARMED ROBBERY and KIDNAPPING, with no other job offers after graduation.
If they fail as robbers and kidnappers, they become politicians and legislooters.

big_bug_ben:

Harzan & Oladayo: what u said is quite true. But i gallantly subscribe to d deal dat proportionaly or inversely, there is a success secret attached to boarding the hostel esp as a 100l students cos they are new to G.P & dat's d time they can grab d zeal for success.
@big_bug_ben  I can't find a correlation between boarding the hostel and G.P ??

oladayo: of course dere is, atleast research has reveal dat when u stay on campus either persuasively or indulgence, u get urself attached 2 success. dere is no 2 way 2 success except hardwork. staying in hostel has alot of priviledges e.g.:
*provokes to read frm friends
*has large access 2 materials frm library & frnds on campus
*u learn how 2 utilize ur precious time
*absence of transport palavars
*consistence punctuality 4 lectures
*less exposed 2 what can speedy while away ur time
*being a partaker of interesting campus life
*u hav easy access 2 rest & hav much time 2 meditate abt ur life
*2hrs Electricity & Water supply
*& much more dat can influence ones life +ive indirectly.
Confirm it, most of d brilliant top G.P holders of many depts are hostel leavers.
Of course hostel has it's disadvantages as well, bt quite profitable when compared 2 off campus. Remember that "nobody chase success & pleasure/comfort at atime". schooling is nt 4 enjoyment bt 4 struggle. Ur destiny is in ur hand, handle it well.thx

@big-bug-ben,i'm an accounting student but d two courses i.e accounting and finance are similar in many ways but different in d sense dt finance talks about d analyses of d financial statement prepared by d accountant 4 decision making and they also talk about banking, stock market, risk management etc.
If u're given accounting,u'll understand more cos we are doing almost d same thing xcept in few courses which is in 300 and 400L,infact i heard they will be doing one course dt we will not be doing [law relating 2 banking(fin 201)] in 200L where as they will be offering all accounting courses as they did in 100L.
I like d department cos apart frm being an accounting std,u'll also know abt banking & finance as a course, hope 2 see u in campus nxt session,

@ruhu: what's up? it's quite a long time, i'm suprised dat u could stil pick my question 4 u @ abt a month ago. anyway, yes. i'm very much aware abt d correlation btw d a/c.ing & finance dept. even besides dat of unilorin, ministries, companies, firms & sectors frm both a/c.ing & finance have always work 2geda as twins & sumtimes both are almagamated. Although i was disappointend bt nt too suprised i was dumped for a/c.ing to bus. admin while pple dat had less of what i did had were choosen, dat's how it has always been. I hav no cause to fear dis time, cos i hav all it takes to be in a/c.ing & besides dat which happen to me last yr was just a mix-up.
Thx 4 ur comment anyway, it's very much sure dat we shall meet in d just coming section, bt i won't want to lose ur contact again dis time around. could u kindly give me ur fone number here.thx
Good morining guyz, admission is supposively to commence anytime dis week. so remember to pray & press all ur pressable buttons. GOODLUCK

Unilorin DVC stresses importance of post-UME test
From Layi Olanrewaju, Ilorin
Monday, August 30, 2010

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin , Professor Kolade L. Ayorinde at the weekend disclosed that of the 27,847 candidates that sat for the post-UME test this month at the university, about 16,225 scored the average of 50 per cent and above.

Ayorinde added that though of the 73,392 candidates that applied to UNILORIN either as first, second or most preferred choice institution, for the 2010/2011 admission exercise, only 27, 847 ultimately sat for the pre-registration screening.

The Professor of agriculture stated this in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, saying that in the screening exercise that took place between August 16 and 23 at the Ilorin, Lagos and Minna centres, 58.2 per cent candidates scored 50percent and above. He added that about 11,622 candidates scored lower than 50 in the exercise.

Prof Ayorinde added that the outcome of the screening exercise justified the necessity of post-UME.
According to the deputy vice-chancellor, “if candidates that scored 280 (out of 400) or more in Unified Tertiary Institutions Matriculation Examinations (UTME) could score far below 50 per cent in the pre-admission screening as the recent experience has shown, it clearly indicates that ‘JAMB’ is not enough,” he said.

“While the questions asked were to test the general aptitude of the candidates and determine their suitability for university education, rather than competence on specific subjects, the 41.74 per cent failure recorded is a wake-up call that better measurements need to be developed to test the academic competence of students,” the deputy vice-chancellor academic said.

On what parents and candidates should expect after the screening, Prof. Ayorinde said that a phase in the admission process had just been completed while other phases would immediately follow. He added that “what we have done is a phase. The next phase is to generate a list. Then, Senate would take a decision on the cut-off mark. Afterwards, the Admission Committee would sit to work and successful candidates would be admitted.”

On what it takes to be offered admission, the professor said “admission depends on the number of students that applied for a particular course, the nature of the course applied for and the weighted average score of a candidate.
“Courses have carrying capacities and there is no way having 50percent or more can automatically guarantee admission. Using the experience of last year as a case study, Prof. Ayorinde said candidates that score less than 70percent would not be admitted.

@c me o,d 70% stated,is it 4 d post utme score or 70% based on big bug ben's calculation.

From d piece up there, i think its post UTME score.(As in d 70% tin!)

@c me o: i tink i believe ur news, atleast it's frm a reliable end. bt i'll stil luv to adjust d point dat post-utme cut-off had earlier been speculated frm d post-utme results statistics frm d admission office bt d final analysis would be made by d senate's decision. thx for d news anyway, it's very helpful.
mac: dat's a wrong caption of urs, financial accountant don't count money, it's d work of a cashier. they deal wit financial data to present financial statements.
@ag vib. & skmoda: what he meant was dat 70% score & above in post-utme is a guarantee of admission 4 any candidates applying for any of d top strongest competitive dept like MEDICINE, ACCOUNTING, LAW etc.
skmoda: d First List is otherwise called Merit List cos it's dominated by candidates on MERIT BASIS, after then is 2nd list then later supplementary list. Unilorin usually admit abt 5,500 candidate all 2geda every yr bt d first usually consist of 4,200 names.
Phemmy: yea, i'm big-ben also in 9jaonline, how do u do?
Re: Unilorin Admission 2010/2011 by Nobody: 11:15am On Aug 30, 2010
Guyz: the news is quite true, right from d THE SUN NEWS PAPER/ONLINE NEWS on monday 30th Aug. 2010.
Don't be weak or depressed by d news, much pple didn't score 70% & above, they will surely compromise to accept less. don't 4get dat prayers are very important.gudluck.
