I wish you murderfuckers that hate harmless gay people so much will have such hate for animals like obasanjo that have for so long put your lives in reverse. If you do,you probably won't be as fuc-ked as you are today not being able to differentiate between relevance and irrelevance.

the really weird thing is that some of these bigots reside in places where homosexuals are tolerated /accepted
perhaps they can tell us if those societies are in danger of extinction
perhaps rome also went extinct because of homos
It is the same pattern we see in other areas . . . you have people who have lived in developed countries and experienced how the system works for the good of the majority but when the same go back to Nigeria, they look for ways to fleece the majority so they can better just their own lot.

Last time I looked, most societies that have accepted homo also seem to have accepted other factors that have seen them declining, rather than growing.
As for those who have sworn to celibacy, we all know the unreal ratio of child mollesters in cassocks;

Oh yes, celibacy too, is a crime. cool

And our society that has 'rejected' homosexualism is so much better off  undecided

If you think it's only priests that molset children then you have to think again?

You know what, I'm tired of this argument. It's your choice to love or hate what you want. You just come off as close-minded!

All religions set acceptable standard for followers to follow but most countries do not enforce religion laws due to its sidelining and emergence of constitutions.
What has countries and the enforcement of religious laws to do with anything? The laws against sin are usually to individuals and not to countries. What are you now trying to make this into? Please drop this religious angle you are trying to argue with here cause it ain't gonna work at all.

~Bluetooth:

Nigeria constitution has never recognised homosexuality until recently but religion has always frown at it even though the only religion that strictly forbids it which is islam do not enforce punishment on offenders.countries like iran, iraq and saudi would definitely prosecute any gay if found guilty.there is an iranian woman being charged for adultery now and may likely be killed if found guilty.iran operates a sharia law and they equally enforce it.

I already told you earlier that in most of these countries adultery/fornication come with a steeper price, especially for the women involved and not the men. How does repeating this change anything?
The fact is homosexuality is practiced in many of the same countries and the law looks the other way more often than not for the men who indulge in it. Same in Nigeria. A woman who engages in adultery/fornication is shamed even more than the man involved. All these laws, especially those based on religious beliefs, are used to shame the females more than the men involved. so I see no reason why you keep bringing this up as if religion now counts for much more than an excuse to hate others in our society.

Yes, homosexuality is a sin according to religion, so also is fornication, hating your fellow man, and adultery. Why are we not calling for the killing of the fornicators and the adulterers(equally for the male and female) if we really cared so much of religious beliefs?

Just so you know, I am a born again Christian who also believes homosexuality is a sin in the eyes of God, and so I am likely not voting anytime soon for gay marriage. And just as I have had to accept that fornicators, liars, haters, coveters, and adulterers do exist and there is not much I can do about those but to pray, so also have I come to accept that homosexuals also do exist and it is not my place to SAVE THEM or serve up God's punishment on them. They are human beings . .  flesh and blood and I remember the second greatest commanded is to love thy neighbor(including the homosexuals among them) as you love yourself.

lol These bone heads are still going at it.

Homosexuality did not come from the West you fools. It existed a long time ago before the white man came but movement to recognize its existence 1st started in the West and now its moving to other places. How can someone influence your peniss or vaginiia to get excited when dealing with someone of same gender? If you get arousal by images of same gender unclothed or in sexual act then you are BI or GAY.  I know many of you bone heads get that but ofcourse u wanna lash out thinking it will stop it. I already know a few potential bi-curious men in this group. No need to say names but YOU and I know wsup. I'm talking to you. You now know how to get with me. wink

Homosexual sex is not the cause of HIV you dimwits. rectalll-sexx involving homos or hetero with no protection makes it more suseptible for HIV virus to spread when having sex with an infected person. this is due to more tear and the fact that yes the anus aint very clean unless you douche it like females douche their vaginaaas. The ones receiving it is more likely to catch it faster than the one giving it.
You can also catch HIV in womanly sex so both are risky if no protection is used.
The cause of HIV is lack protection thats all. Some folks will like to believe that homosexual carry some HIV gene or something. Africans and their ignorance.

This bill passed very easily. The gate is already shut against legalising any homo crap. People can do what they like, but don't shove it in our faces, or there will be a backlash (the risk of much stricter laws or the risk of street justice).

Nigeria moves to tighten gay laws

The deputy speaker said Nigerians shouldn't forget their cultural heritage
Nigeria's House of Representatives has held a public hearing on a new bill seeking to outlaw gay relations.
The bill, which could become law before April's elections, proposes a five-year sentence for anyone convicted of being openly gay or practising gay sex.

Critics say the bill is anti-freedom, but religious leaders say it will help "protect society's morals and values".

Homosexuality is taboo across most of Africa, although South Africa recently legalised gay marriages.
The committee conducting the public hearing say they have received over 100 petitions from rights groups asking that the proposed bill be withdrawn.

"The bill is going to seriously violate the rights of people. This bill is evil and should not be allowed to see that light of the day," says Alimi Ademola who heads Independent Project Nigeria, a gay rights organisation.

Debate

But the bill will prove popular in a country where homosexuality is taboo and elections are looming, says the BBC's Senan Murray in Abuja.

While we are trying to protect morals and values, we must also remember to protect people's rights even if they are a minority

MP Abdul Oroh
Parliamentary insiders say the bill is likely to be passed by both chambers of the Nigerian National Assembly by the end of March, he says.

Speaking at the session, Deputy Speaker Austin Opara said he did not want Nigerians to forget their "religious and cultural backgrounds".

The Christian Association of Nigeria (Can), the umbrella body for Nigerian Christians, called for speedy passage of the law, describing same sex unions as "barbaric and shameful".

The National Muslim Centre also condemned gay relations as "immoral, and runs contrary to our cultural and religious values".

The deputy chairman of the house committee on human rights Abdul Oroh says it was hypocritical of proponents of the bill to use morality and religion as basis for their arguments.

"We should not be hypocritical here. I think we should deal with this subject dispassionately. While we are trying to protect morals and values, we must also remember to protect people's rights even if they are a minority," Mr Oreh said at the public hearing.

The United Nations has warned that the bill would promote the spread of HIV/Aids.

"Failing to acknowledge that sex between men will only increase the vulnerability of men - and women - to HIV infection, since men who cannot talk about their sexual orientation are less likely to seek appropriate support services," said Dr Pierre Mpele, the UNAids country co-ordinator in Nigeria.

There have been unbelievable displays of utter stupidity on this thread, but it's been fun reading at times.

Before I start, disclosure: I am not in support of homosexuality, but I do believe there is more to it than meets the eye in terms of what factors determine whether a person is gay or not.

Now to dispel some false notions on this thread:

Homosexuality has been in existence for centuries - if it didn't stop the human population from hitting 5 billion, it can't stop the human race from growing now.

Homosexuality has been in existence in Africa, prior to contact with Europeans - that is why native languages have descriptive terms for homosexuals.

Why do morons on this thread not threaten to kill fraudsters, adulterers and fornicators and only do so for gay people?

For all the misdirected 'religious' fervour here, how come Nigeria is in the abysmal mess it is in despite all your hatred of homosexuality?

Personally I don't go on parades to declare I like women, so I don't get the 'gay pride' parades and the likes, but as a group of people who are traditionally treated badly, they do require legal protection so lunatics like the ones on this thread don't kill them.

PS - for the idiots who enacted laws against homosexuality, I suggest they enact similar ones for hatred, adultery and fornication.

Africa culture frowns at adultery if committed by a woman but does give a man some advantage basically because it recognise and gives regards to polygamy.
Fonication, adultery and homosexuality are grave offence but homo seems to be despised by a majority of nigeria based on cultural and religious abuse and that is why it was constitutionally tagged as a crime.

What a bill!

It was in response to this sort of foolish pressure, its best for homo's to go about their business quietly and nobody will bother them, but the moment they start fighting for "rights", the hammer will fall.
