Construction of 158km Lagos-Ibadan Standard Gauge Rail,* with 10 Stations: Apapa, Ebute Metta, Agege, Agbado, Kajola, Papalanto, Abeokuta, Olodo, Omi-Adio and Ibadan. (ongoing) done by PMB. Atiku is only good at selling national assets at cheap price to himself and friends .

Party affiliation will never allow people reason objectively.
the fact that the Lagos Ibadan is just a segment of the proposed Lagos kano line and the fact that the Abuja Kaduna segment had already started and nearing completion before APC took over shows it is Gej/PDP that started the project.
this is a highly capital intensive project and anybody who expected the government to have carried everything at same time is not being fair.i am sure the reason why the Abuja Kaduna segment was started first is to help ease the pressure on Abuja as the FCT.
there are other projects that was started by the last administration like the Benin Ore Sagamu highway that are still on going,I don't know why people are not arguing about it.

What's the point of original project when we have all this unfinished ones all over the place. Nigeria's problems are so obvious that all we need is to compete the ones that are existing. Complete the rails, complete the roads they've been building for 16 years, complete the power stations, increase transmission capacity. Complete all these projects that other governments have released money for and stolen. Atiku said with his own mouth that since Obj, they had released full funding to solve the electricity problem in Nigeria but nothing was done. So again what's the point of starting some bogus projects when we literally have hundreds of abandoned projects that needs to be completed

This government seem incapable of conceiving any meaningful project of their own

Kudos to Obasanjo for conceiving the project

Pls, later today go to an architect's office, carry all your furniture and move into the plan he drew. Feel free to pick the biggest mansion and move in with your family.

How you guys actually feel smart with your statements is mind boggling. What's the point of planning without the actual work.

We know who had the idea and who started it.

GEJ started with the Kaduna and the second would have been the Lagos-Ibadan. But liars will always be liars!!!! With APC lie is their nickname.
which useless idea are you talking about? You are handsome and rich.you approach a woman with sweat mouth and married her. Your wife get to know that you are impotent after marriage.so, she divorced you. Later an urgly man who is also rich but not as rich as you are married the same woman and impregnated her while she started having a sense of belonging. Who do you have the best family relations idea? PDP that always have project on papers or slApc that saw the idea and turn it to a useful idea? You can even tell us that PDP initiated the rail system across the globe. Obituary is known as a serial pier. Mr China/India.

Am not a supporter of both PDP and APC, but have you ever sat down an think this, with the high rate of abandoned projects, u expect him to leave them and start a new one. Then where is continuity in government, if another person comes, because he wants to be praised, he abandoned the old ones and start a new one again. Use your head to think that before you type for Likes. PDP started many interesting projects, which if it was complete, our country would have been better than this, but they choose to loot the fund instead.

It is a pity some people knew next to nothing about government process or are outright Jaundiced. Nigeria is littered with many uncompleted projects. If a government takes it a responsibility to complete some of these projects do you takes that as lack of envisonment? We need to thank buhari for curbing the waste

FriendNG:
History will not be fair if we allow the misleading thread on front page about the construction of Lagos Ibadan Railway. While "AutoReport.Ng" might be doing so unintentionally, there is still need to put the record straight.

Currently, I believe there is not a single nairalander that follow-up infrastructural development threads like I and "Blue.3k." Especially when it comes to railway and transportation related threads.

For every new update on Lagos-Ibadan railway, I got the pictures as well as the video(s) first while many others are still searching.

Now back to the matter: AutoReport.NG claimed that Lagos-Ibadan railway starts with the administration of President Good luck Jonathan.
https://www.nairaland.com/5006756/fact-check-started-lagos-ibadan

Now the word Start might be very complex but we will decode it.

Start what exactly?

There is a clear difference between starting a project practically and starting a project theoretically on paper.

The Lagos-ibadan railway is only a segment of the larger Lagos - Kano Standard Guage Rail, which is divided into four segments.

a. Lagos-Ibadan.
b. Ibadan-Abuja.
c. Abuja-Kaduna.
d. Finally kaduna-kano.

However it was later redesigned to accommodate other state capitals like Ado Ekiti, Minna, Akure etc.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lagos–Kano_Standard_Gauge_Railway

Idea & Construction Of The Project On Paper:

In 2006,
the Nigerian government awarded a $8.3 billion contract to the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation to construct a standard gauge railway from Lagos to Kano.

The idea of the project starts during the administration of President Obasanjo. The word awarded doesn't mean you have started the work. It's just a mere written commitment and not the work.
That is why despite Obasanjo awarding the project, not a single stone or brick was put on ground.

Due to lack of funding, the rail project was divided into 4 segments.

Abuja–Kaduna Segments ($876 million) : The construction of this segment starts with President Good luck Jonathan in 2011 and completed by President Buhari in 2016.

It is all clear President Jonathan starts the construction of Abuja - Kaduna railway segment of Lagos - Kano rail. And it was completed by President Buhari.

Lagos–Ibadan Segment

1. Who Awarded The Contract On Paper?

It was awarded by President Obasanjo in 2006 on paper and re-awarded by President Jonathan in 2012 on paper. And then renegotiated by President Buhari Administration.

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2011/07/fg-to-award-lagos-ibadan-rail-contract-soon-—jonathan/

2. Who Paid For The Contract?

I watched the vice presidential candidate of a party lying on national television that "the Administration of Goodluck pay for the rail project before leaving office." That is not only false but unbecoming of someone that once occupied the seat of power.

The first and full counterpart funding of Lagos Ibadan Railway was released by the Administration of Muhammad Buhari after a series of negotiation between China & Nigeria.

(The Nigerian Team includes: H.E Rotimi Amaechi, Hon. Kemi Adeosun, among others)

Buhari Released N72BN Full Counter Part Funding For Lagos-Ibadan Railway (Jan 2017)

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/01/fg-releases-n72bn-full-counterpart-funding-lagos-ibadan-rail/

3. Who Start / Flag Off The Practical Construction Of Lagos-Ibadan Railway?

The ground breaking which marks the initial commencement of construction works for the Lagos-ibadan railway was performed by H.E the acting president Prof Yemi Osinbajo in March 2017

https://www.legit.ng/amp/1092288-osinbajo-storms-lagos-flag-lagos-ibadan-rail-line-project.html

https://lagosstate.gov.ng/blog/2017/03/07/acting-president-osinbajo-gov-ambode-at-ground-breaking-ceremony-of-lagos-ibadan-railway-project-at-nigerian-railway-corporation-compound-ebute-metta-lagos/

https://www.sunnewsonline.com/excitement-anxiety-as-work-begins-on-lagos-ibadan-rail-project/amp/

If awarding of contract on paper means you have start the project then for every railway built by another administration, we can say Buhari started it. How?

Connect rail to 36 state capitals, Buhari directs

https://www.vanguardngr.com/2017/10/connect-rail-36-state-capitals-buhari-directs/

For The Records

1. The idea of Lagos Kano rail become more pronounced during the time of Obasanjo in 2016.

2. The Abuja - Kaduna segment was started by Goodluck administration in 2012 and Completed by the Buhari administration in 2016.

3. The Lagos Ibadan segment started with Buhari administration & it is already nearing completion.

I humbly, apply to be joined in the suit. Infrastructural development is of utmost interest to me because since the commissioning of Kaduna refinery in the late 80's, no major project of its type has ever been been built until the second coning of PMB. Same PMB regime that took over and completed ZOBE dam in Katsina state awarded first during OBJ mitary regime..Tomorrow, some people will come and claim the bragging right to the project.

The contractor CCECC cannot obviously handle the project all at once, hence it was splitted starting with the Kaduna-Abuja rail line. Kudos should still go to Obasanjo administration that conceived, design and negotiated the loan financing the project.

The rail master plan. Was concieved, it was to be carried out in stages, starting from the Abuja metro. That Binary came, and did his part of releasing funds for the continuation of the master plan does not mean he is the only brain behind the project. Give credit to whom credit is due.

A simple act of inviting GEJ for commissioning will show sportsmanship. You cannot rewrite history in this internet age. The traces is there for the younger ones to see. Posterity is now digitally armed.
you are right sir. the same way Jonathan volunteered to come and commission the recession he started abi?

was it Jonathan that released money for Lagos-ibadan rail? so why should he come and commission it? ori yin o pe sir

No Sir Buhari is the one certified not intelligent and you that are supporting him are not intelligent ...

Do you realise that most of the projects were already scheduled and paid for and not abandoned like you claim .

Buhari said Jonathan did nothing yet the only thing he is commissioning are Jonathan scheduled projects.

Buhari said Jonathan did not but weapons for the military but the he hadn't ordered a single rifle since he came on board and keeps claiming weapons ordered by Jonathan ..

Do you realise the most these projects were already scheduled and budgeted for by the past govt and they are not abandoned like Buharist like to claim bit have always been within progress and some of them were even delayed by the Buhari govt ..

Are you aware that in his first stint as head of state in the 80s Buhari achieved Zero capital project implementation and are you also aware that the first 2 years of this current govt also scored zero in capital budget implementation only for them to start commissioning Jonathan's scheduled projects as election approach and they have nothing to hold on to.

Are you aware that every single Nigerian president has a power plant project to his name except Buhari ... See a leader without vision cannot take you your vision.

My point is not whether we will re-elect PMB or not. With what I've seen, PMB tried his best and as a matter of fact, what he has done, even if not re-elected, will remain for future generation to see. Mind u, I am not a Buharist, but lets be sincere with ourselves. If Atiku can also do his best, fine. The projects we have envisioned in this country is enough. Lets bring them to reality first.
