The first Swaminarayan temple outside the Indian subcontinent

According to Wikipedia:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BAPS_Sh...Mandir_Nairobi

The temple was made from 350 tonnes of yellow sandstone from Jesalmer, India. The stone was hand-carved by 150 craftsmen for two years. The pieces were then shipped to Mombasa and assembled in Nairobi like a giant three dimensional jigsaw puzzle.

The interior is unique in that it is made from intricately carved indigenous wood from East Africa, such as camphor, mahogany, mvuli, Mt. Elgon teak and meru oak (most traditional Hindu temples have stone interiors). The wood was exported to India and carved by approximately 250 craftsmen.

A team from Kenya visited some of the famous temples and monuments in Rajasthan, Kerala and elsewhere in India before the temple design was finalised.

From Twitter...

Some were dumb-founded, others refused to believe that it was possible and a few stood in awe with their faces pressed against the Capital FM office windows, pointing at Mount Kilimanjaro, the roof of Africa and the highest mountain on the continent.

There she was, as if on cue right when all the clouds hovering above Nairobi parted early Thursday morning after Wednesday evening’s heavy downpour, the warm golden sun shone down on The World Heritage Site rising up from its surrounding savannah plains, capped in snow, and visible from many kilometres away – as far as the Central Business District (CBD) in Nairobi.

Thursday morning from 7:25am to 7:30am, the few early birds in their highly perched CBD offices, enjoyed a glimpse of the majesty that radiated from Mount Kilimanjaro.

“I thought I was dreaming last time,” commented Paul, an employee at Capital FM who last saw Mount Kilimanjaro from the same offices 2 years ago.

A trek up Mount Kilimanjaro does not require any technical mountaineering skill, however taking between 5-9 days on average and with the highest failure rate in regards to summiting a mountain in Africa, many only dream of seeing Mount Kilimanjaro from the glossy pages of a magazine.

So, next time you wake up to clear skies in Nairobi, look in the southeast direction and you may be lucky enough to see the stunning site of the 5,895m high mountain of East Africa – an inspiring way to start your morning.

This is what KQ's chicken and pasta does to you: cool

"Shout out to Kenya Airways. ...........As you know you can see the map and ####! We flew over kilimanjaro, and motherfuckers from Miami in the early 90s know it was a weed hold they called Kilimanjaro. I thought you know, that was just the name for the best weed you know."

I don't know about Kenya but the US was a country almost 200 years before Nigeria gained its independents what was it like 50 or 60 years ago when Nigeria became independent? All I am saying is great countries and beautiful cities rarely spring up over night.Im sure with time trial and error Nigeria will be almost or equally as great as these other countries. don't get me wrong now I am very religious however the people of Nigeria need to stop focusing on religious differences cultural and tribal differences and focus more on making Nigeria better for all Nigerians.

The number one problem in Africa is poor leadership, and a subsivient population.Every year we vote in the same clowns and they divide us to remain in power. The religious issues facing Nigeria and most of Africa are man made. The elite political class of Northern nigeria are probaly best of buddies with the elite of the South and they share the spoils. The common man needs to wake up and demand change or we are doomed.
