Have you guys installed the new android market? Pretty cool shey! The new UI makes you wanna just go around the market and view new stuff. Well categorized for easy navigation. Some people reported its kind of slow but I don't think so. Probably because of the heavy pictures.

So I ordered my HTC Desire S yesterday and am expecting delivery on Monday. Went to youtube to watch a bit of Gadget Porn to whet my appetite and came across this video of the Samsung Galaxy S II versus the HTC Desire S (Browsers) I felt sorry for my poor phone to be. That Galaxy S II is just a beast of a phone.

Funny enough, I installed Ubuntu recently cuz I wanted to try something new and I'm never going back to windows!! (Ok ok, I've got it as a virtual machine for those low-end software I need in my life). There are quite a few bugs in Natty its frustrating and there's only so much the forums can help.

battery life seems to be better and wifi ok. . . well on windows os. . .dont know wats wrong wi my ubuntu partition. . .too much stuff on it i gess

though some guys have been able to port Incredible S's CM7 on desire s, i tink i will just chill . . . .aint got dat kinda liver yet. . . lol

Don't know about you guys but I have found that custom roms do not fly well with my ancient phone
And trust me if used quite few.

So what I have done now its this.

1. Root non negotiable,infact I fail to understand how u can use a droid without root.

2. Install the latest baseband

3. Flash the best custom kernel available. , Make sure your baseband is compatible. Usually means u have cmflash or xrec installed too. The kernel gives u access to all the necessary runlevel inits u need for every koko

4. Get alternative markets, preferably underground, Fill in the gaps here. Markets better than funny sites online

5. Install custom launchers and docks

6. Install core su apps, root explorer, set cpu, etc etc etc. this is where the underground its handy.

Set ur prefs etc. get themes etc.

Voila. U have a beast of a fone u set up to achieve the custom rom ish without the palava.

I kept having battery drain on a fone with already bad battery life with even the best and most recommended roms. this was a much better route for me, and no rom has anything on my machine.

Plus all those features in roms are accessible via apps, paid or free, as long as u know how to get.

Right now im into editing confs and my build.prop etc, my fone is quite fine thank u. Linux just gets my rocks on

Get knowledge, acquire skills, dont just be flashing the fone in front of chicks.

erm, well. next step is dualbooting two roms, stock and custom.

i tried a miui 2.34 custom rom on my fone.

still cannot put the fone down LORD HAVE MERCY, SHE SO FINEEE


the camera does not work. only downside. now im stuck with trying to decide if i need the camera so much to downgrade back or just stick with this beauty, lord this is the tempter at work oooooooooo.

Don't mind the video, The browsing experience on the Desire S is relatively fluid and seamless. It will look unreal, most especially if ur coming from a platform like symbian or Blackberry. What I've noticed is that it drags a tiny bit while the page is loading but after that, ur ready to go. I browse mostly on Wifi (Glo 3G Router) and its quite fast.

@ all Nairalander pls how can i install some Java application to samsung i9000 Galasy s or I9100 Galaxy Sll? and what Java MIDP Emulator can i use? and were can i get one
