lynxnoon: Thing is I spent a couple of days searching forums for a solution. I found posts with problems like mine but with very few responses. Most people seemed to have the volume key working but there were other problems. For those who had the problem with their volume key not working, it was suggested to do a hard reset. Like I said I tried almost everything, in the end gave up and called HTC. If there was an easier solution (and I was brave enough to pull my phone apart) I'd gladly take it. But I'm looking to get another phone in future (Samung?) and use the Desire as my practice phone. |

lynxnoon: I just thank God my phone is working right now, just hope nothing like that happens again (IJN ) I'm not a Samsung fan either but lemme see. . . a choice of 8gb or 16gb internal memory versus 512MB or a generous 1.05GB? HTC hate their loyal customers is all I can say |

lynxnoon: How are you finding the Otterbox case (working on the premise that you've used/still use one)? I've got a Case Mate on mine, works wonderfully, but thinking of getting another one. My only concern with the Otterbox case is the rubber, I tend to think in the Nigerian climate it can go funny, but I could be wrong. |

N101: Hey, did you get your case in Nigeria? for how much? lynxnoon: I recently switched back to sense ui because my experience with it was better than with CM7. But maybe I'll try my luck again with this stable release. I also recently got a Windows Mobile Phone ( 2 year old hand-me-down from my popsie, but I'm not complaining). Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 running WinMo 6.1. The hardware's not bad (except for the resistive screen) but the OS is just so sad. I'll play around with it for a while and see what kind of experience I can get out of it if I show it some love. |

Azanor: No I didn't. My phone was a freebie. It came with the Case-Mate case but I'm thinking of getting another one, cos the Case-Mate I have is too "flashy" |

4llerbuntu: Mehn! that hack is not for kiddies, forget what the thread heading says. Plus, seems there are still some things not working in the mod. Maybe later. What I really need now is an affordable case for my Desire S, something below 2k and locally available. Any Ideas? |

htc wildfire for sale a friend of mine got it for new thinking it could work with his metatrader forex platform. unfortunately for him, he had broken the warranty seal so he couldnt return it. so if u r interested hala me, or if u have a windows mobile fone and u want to exchange it for the htc android wildfire, u can also get in touch with me. @ azanor, i no go mind d xperia x1 in exchange for d htc wildfire, since u already have an android fone, u will hate d x1. but for us forex traders, android doesnt cut it for us yet. |

Android powered 56 percent of smartphones sold in the last three months When last we checked in with Nielsen (which was earlier this month) Google's mobile OS had a sizable lead, powering just under 42-percent of smartphones sold, while Apple had cornered a more than respectable 28-percent of the market. In the few short weeks since, Android has seen its share grow to 43-percent. More interestingly, of the over 25,500 surveyed who had purchased a smartphone in the last three months, a whopping 56-percent chose to go with the Goog. Apple held a steady 28-percent across the board. Big G's gains came at the expense of RIM (only 9-percent of phones sold in the last three months were BlackBerries) and the ambiguous "other" (Symbian, Windows Phone 7, Bada, MeeGo, etc, accounted for 6-percent of sales). More important than choice of platform though, is that smartphone sales in general are climbing -- accounting for 58-percent of all handsets sold in August and driving smartphone penetration to 43-percent.

The Internet is sure a very resourceful tool. If you are like me and you use MIUI.us ROM and have not been able to use swype on it, a fix does exist. Trust me, I have tried all types of Keyboards (Touchpal, SwiftKey X e.t.c) but nothing comes close to the beauty of Swype. This is the major area that has frustrated me when using the screen to type. You can just imagine my joy when i stumbled on this fix. If you are interested in getting Swype Keyboard installed on your ROM, use the instructions below as applicable. New Version UPDATE 18/07/2011 for newer versions of MIUI with Swype 3 this is now what is required Download installer Download and install Swype (take note of which version, full etc) After install it will most likely get stuck at generating license first time, press back and login again Select generate license again and at the disable Swype step hit the home button and go to settings Un-install Swype and accept the ok dialogue to confirm un-install Long press the home key and select the Swype installer, it should be where you left it at the keyboard options screen in settings, hit the back key once You will be asked to login again, login again and select the version you originally installed Once downloaded it should complete generating the license this time around Once the license is generated, hit finish and reboot your phone You should now have a fully working version of Swype on MIUI. If after the final reboot you get a license error from Swype, you did not select the same version of Swype to be installed both times. If when swyping you do not get the text appear, change input mode off of Swype and back to it, or close the app and re-open it. Old method if if you have the extra steps Download installer Download and install swype At the enable step leave the installer and select swype as the input device Reboot your phone After Reboot, open the swype installer again Select "Select Android keyboard" and change input back to android keyboard Choose disable swype, go to applications and uninstall swype but NOT THE INSTALLER Go back to the installer and generate license This should put you through the download process again so just follow it and re-install swype Once re-installed it should generate the license, but it still won't work Reboot your phone again and all should work, enjoy! |
