In Greek mythology, was a strange, wild creature, first described by Pindar and Homer. They said centaurs lived in the caves of thessaly. Sometime later the Centaur was thought to be man from head to waist, horse below. Centaurs were reputed to have tremendous strength and to be of wild and lawless habit. Because of these characteristics the creature often figure in acient legends as a symbol of brutishness depicting the triumph of civilization over babarism. According to one legend, these creatures where descended form ixion and a cloud that ixion mistakenly took to be Hera. In another myth...
