but what i see here is foolishness/insincerity of the highest order

your mum want to eat her cake and still have it

she has serious heart challenges, what stops her tendering her resignation letter to look after her health

No she will rather be cheating the system...,didn't she read the ethical code of teaching.."Teaching is a service to humanity"

please she should report to her new job immediately and stop flexing power with her fellow colleague

Let her bear in mind that Teachers reward is in heaven!
u are foolish oh...hope u know

Meanwhile it's just within the local government, it has not reach the state level, At this present moment we don't know what to do. She has been so devastated and sad since morning. We have been praying but we still don't know what to do.

There is wisdom in choosing your battles before rushing to the battle ground
You mum has worked for 32 years meaning she is closer to retirement than starting off her career
She is trying to make needless enemies at the dusk of her career
As a civil servant, she can be posted within her state of primary assignment.
Whether her school is peaceful and the one they are sending her to is not is IMMATERIAL!
If her health challenges is too bad, let her resign and take care of herself peacefully.
Y'all should have advised her to take up her new posting (thereby securing her continuity in service) then prayerfully take up her case to the relevant authorities by showing medical evidence and asking to be reposted to a new school nearer to her home. This pleading/request can be done on a compassionate ground while backed up with prayers. That is far better than ignoring authorities and staying put when you have been asked to relocate.

There is a saying that he who comes to equity must come with clean hands. You can't be showing insubordination yet crying foul and praying for grace all at the same time.

Now look, she has been suspended, is that any better for you guys?

Run off with this, lad.

'too hard'

'When you try too hard, it shows and unfortunately it seems desperate. Trying too hard usually stems from a childhood where your efforts were either not rewarded or were not regarded as ever good enough, where you perceived yourself to be undervalued or unappreciated.'

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/handy-hints-humans/201510/do-you-try-too-hard%3famp

I Am writing this with my heart bleeding with too much pains, I need help!!!!! My mom has been working with the government as a teacher for the past thirty two years, she's upright and diligent and a very hardworking woman, she's the best teacher I grew up to know.

She was promoted to head teacher November last year after all she's due for it. In another school, the same local government, there are rifts and fights within that school which is school 1,2,3 which does not have anything to do with my mom, suddenly they called my mom from SUBEB, they want to transfer her to that school where they have been having loggerhead. But it's not that she doesn't want to go but my mom has health challenges. She's high blood pressure patient and the place of primary assignment is very far from our residence so she refused to collect the letter of transfer and she presented her doctor's report at SUBEB.

I forget to add that the other person they transferred to my mom school from the school they are having rifts was well known at SUBEB and was a very powerful person so she initially pointed where my mom was heading that she want that place or they transfer her back to her sch back, but my mom refused it, and since she has the back up of SUBEB, the chairman and almost everyone at that SUBEB came this morning and chased my mom out of her office saying she was suspended. They do not only cheated her but they also humiliated and violated her human right and harassed her publicly just because we don't know anybody from the government.

Meanwhile it's just within the local government, it has not reach the state level, At this present moment we don't know what to do. She has been so devastated and sad since morning. We have been praying but we still don't know what to do.
I think your mom need to report to where was transferred to, then she can complain later. Please calm down. My mom and fiance mom works in a government school so i am talking from my mom's experience. Politics full that place abeg.

Obey before complain!

Your mother's employers asked her to move, but you and your mother decided to choose sentiments over reason.

I pity you and those advising you to seek redress through unconventional means.

If you don't want your mother's pension delayed or even denied, she better go down on her knees and beg the guys at SUBEB to rescind that decision to suspend her.

A word is enough for the wise.

Hello Cutefy.

I'll try to address the subject now.

1. OP's Mum has been transferred (as a Head Teacher) from Primary School Y to Primary School Z.

2. Mama OP and OP wish to reject the transfer for three reasons.

A. The new school is a mega school with more staff, apparently more pupils and 3 large arms/subsects.

With that situation of greater number of personnel, there's bound to be greater friction between human beings working or schooling there. It is an inherent part of human nature.

B. School B is far from OP & Mama OP's residence.

C. Mama OP is a known hypertensive individual

Now, let's address 1, 2(a), 2(b) & 2(c) without allowing emotions to ride our judgement.

1. For a civil servant of 32 years working history it isn't strange to be posted from a smaller place / unit to a bigger responsibility, irrespective of location.

It isn't also unusual, for example, for the transfer to be from a local government office to one in the State Capital, for example, in a vertical ascendancy that comes with increased years of service or from a smaller establishment to a bigger one. That's quite common.

2(a) I see the above playing out here - except that it is from a smaller school within a local government to a hybrid primary school arrangement within the same local government while retaining her position as a Head Teacher.

2(b) The location of a civil servant's transfer is ENTIRELY at the behest of the administrative staff and leadership of the Civil Service (Teaching Service Commission/ SUPEB in this case) .

One of the factors that has messed up education at the primary and secondary school level in Nigeria is that many teachers are too comfortable in a station/school. They become 'principalities' even as mid-level staff and challenge superior authority at will, be it Principal or anyone else from the Ministry.

I am not suggesting that such is the situation here. I am only being quite generic.

2(c). Indeed, I manage Hypertension professionally as a part of my daily responsibilities and I can confirm to OP that a significant percentage of post-menopausal black women have something known as Primary Hypertension or Idiopathic HTN, whichever you pick. Most women with a 32 year career around here are post menopausal i.e above 52 years of age. What's my point? Most teachers of OP's Mum's age - whether male or female really - are battling with one chronic disease or the other: Hypertension, Arthritis, Diabetes etc.

As long as a person is capable of remaining in thee service and working daily until the transfer, it would otherwise be a very weak ground to reject a statutory transfer on such ground as Hypertension, unfortunately.

I hope this helps.

Cheers.

DrTee1:
Something is really wrong somewhere.

Aside that this story is from one perspective, another huge concern is the grammar: Lexis, structure, tenses, construction.

Mum is the best teacher you know. She is a primary school teacher. That suggests she teaches at the elementary level where one of the core subjects is English language.

I'm afraid you may just have 'fallen hand' very badly - in the Nigerian lingua - and you have not covered so much in glory, at least to buttress your best teacher assertion.

As to the matter at hand, there are established ways in the civil service to resolve disputes: Teaching Service Commission, Civil Service Commission, and at the extreme, the National Industrial Court.

However, excuses like distance of assignment from residence shouldn't arise, really. It isn't an excuse to be officially considered at all in that line of responsibility. If anything at all, it should be lobbied for, under the table, and not presented as a major issue.

Best wishes.

Op, go to Twitter, share this story as a thread, tag minister of education, tag presidency, tag SERVICOM, tag your state governor, tag all the necessary authorities and then use trending hash tags and beg Nigerians to retweet it and watch wonders happen.

It works now

Your mom's position will be restored but she must prepare for the spiritual battle that must come after she wins. Wipe your tears and do as I said, God will see your mom through this okay

Her position may not necessarily be restored because nothing happened to her position in the first place..
I must also say that NO injustice was melted out to her because all civil servants and especially teachers are routinely transfered from one location to another..
If she has issues with her new place of assignment, there are channels to lay such complains not outright refusal to collect the posting letter!! She might evenbe purnished for gross insurbodination
