AOCOED:
ACCOUNTABILITY PROBLEM TEARS UNIONS,MANAGEMENT APART
@ VONN NEWS;
Ruled by the demands of the entire Congress,the chairman of the four unions of the Adediran Ogunsanya College of Education,Oto-Ijanikin (AOCOED) have unanimously clamoured for the removal of the Registrar of the College,Muyideen Shehu and the Bursar,the duo the unions referred to as associates and partners in the Gross mismanagement and poor accountability which have retrogressively affected the school for years.

The unions COEASU;NASU;SSUCOEN&NACEATON which held a world conference at the school to brief the press on the happenings in the school that have led to different crisis maintained that AOCOED have suffered untold hardship and underdevelopment due to the mismanagement and poor accountability perpetrated by the Registrar and the Bursar.
According to the chairman of the unions,about a week ago,the management invited the four unions to a meeting without agenda,and sequel,the unions demanded explanations to pending problems of the school,but when the management proved incapacitated in matters that required urgent attention and response,the irk of the unionists was drawn.

At the conference which held at the Secretariat of COEASU,the unions through their chairmen alleged that the registrar had been the bane of peace and progress as far as AOCOED is concerned,since he emerged as the registrar of the college through imposition in 2002.
Parts of their allegations included that the registrar was unable to give any light to the memorandum of understanding(MOU) keeping UBA and the various communication masts on the ground of AOCOED;that he,together with his cohort,the Bursar,signs college cheques,receive and spend funds without the knowledge of the provost;that there exists an unlawful liaison between the United Bank for Africa and the registrar which aids him to defraud the college;the incapacitation of the procurement department and it's replacement with a purchasing officer that is his stooge;that the Bursar negotiates and accepts funds meant for the college without the knowledge of the provost;that the registrar aided by the Bursar introduces and executes white elephant projects in order to siphon the college;that they use Bethel,Result managers,internet providers(cyber space) and other guises to drain college funds;that they are guilty of age falsification and illegitimate approval of sabbatical leave for a person who just spent 3 years in service instead of 6 years,etc.

Further allegations by the unions are that the registrar resorted to using armed policemen from the Ijanikin Police Station to harass,intimidate and brutalise union members right inside the college,a situation they said happens a violation. According to them,one Mr. Haruna of the maintenance department was recently ruffled and bundled by the police after he was publicly handcuffed.

The unionists condemned a situation where there is no principal signatory to AOCOED account,a reason they feared that he college account is open to graeter siphoning
Describing the recent action of the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on education that requested the unionists to report daily to Alausa from 8am to 4pm as an action or request in abberation,the agitating lecturers,other unionists said it is unfair for the S.A who they learnt is a lawyer to take action or conclude without listening to the unionists who are only fighting to correct age-long mismanagement.

They also lamented the fact that the United Bank for Africa had operated inside AOCOED for 16 years without any MOU.
The unionists submitted that they never wished to resort to using the press but were compelled by the media action of the registrar in the nation newspaper. They said that it was as a result of the police actions that the media men were attracted to the school.

Consequently the unionists said they sent words to the S.A on education to the Lagos State Governor to be fair in handling the affairs of the four unions of AOCOED who are merely asking that records should be put straight and that the IGR base of the school should be made strong through transparency and accountability. VONN reporter gathered that
Similarly,the unionists said that a letter had been conveyed to the DPO of Ijanikin division to desist from committing illegality by joining forces with the elements that have been rascally and lawless in their approaches.
The unionists have however vowed to resist all attempts by anyone or group to continue to hoodwink the college community while stealing and commiting different forms of fraud to the disadvantage of the college. They said that no group can be more lawful and peaceful than AOCOED unionists,stressing that inspite of these acts of injustice,oppression,mismanagement and corruption,the unions have ensured that AOCOED students are writing their examinations.
Princess reporting.
