OK...full disclosure, I am a medical doctor.

1.Here in Nigeria, when you pass your medical exams, and graduate with MBBS, you get a provisional licence to practice medicne in Nigeria from the MDCN.. You get the full registration once you have finished the one year mandatory Housemanship/Internship....then you can procced for NYSC.

2.To be a Plastic or cosmetic surgeon in Nigeria, you need to do residency in Surgery, with a focus on plastic surgery, which takes about 6 years. At the end of 6 years, you write the Fellowship exam...which on passing...makes you a Consultant/Specialist Plastic surgeon with the title Fellow of the West African College of Surgeons, or Fellow of the Medical College.(we have two postgraduate colleges for the training of specialists)

(To qualify to do residency, you must pass a Primary exam, and to qualify to do the Fellowship exam, you must pass the membership exam 3 years after starting residency).

3.Once you are a specialist, you register your qualification with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.(MDCN).

In other words it takes time.


4.To be a board certified plastic surgeon under the American College of Surgeons, takes 1) passing USMLE1 AND2, and then 2) on passing the exam, getting matched to a residency programme for plastic surgery/cosmetic surgery in the US and finally 3) doing 6 years of training....and passing the boards at the end. 4) and even then you have to be recertified every year, by writing the board exams for your college 5) surgical residencies in the US are very difficult for IMG's to get into. The US prefers its citizens before anyone else for surgery residency places.

The problem is, sports fans, that the woman is in a lot of trobule.

If MDCN and the Guild start taking a closer look at her qualificaitons or lack thereof, she's going to be in a lot of trobule.

Also, you do not let a plastic surgeon who makes the kind of mistakes she made loose on the public.

Finally, Stella Obasanjo's plastic surgeon got one year in jail plus suspension of licence to practice.(as per the laws of Spain)

Also anyone that died cannot be entirely proved to be her fault when an autopsy was not performed.The fatal case may have been as s result of the underlying health issue the patient had,which d Dr couldn't have forseen.

Thanks I already know these steps. She might be doing only routine surgeries not necessarily plastic surgery in the full sense of it.
