ZionSpecie: It is left for you both to decide. How she will go about the change is best known to her. All i know is that you probably wont get the visa by presenting your job duties as being a PA. Make sure you have a designation and profile you can defend or else you stand the risk of being refused if an element of doubt is discovered in your interview..... |

Re: Usa Visit Visa by fadinus(m): 6:54pm On Jul 12, 2013 |
christianmarks:It is possible, the former application may not matter, as long as u are able to defend the reason why you need to go for the conference and how the conference relates to your field of study/interest. |

Re: Usa Visit Visa by blawi1(f): 10:48am On Jul 14, 2013 |
@ Henries, sure you can buy a 1-way ticket afterall you're moving permanently and not sure when you'd want to visit. The CBP won't question that, they won't check. A 1-way ticket is only slightly cheaper than a return ticket maybe a 20 or 30k difference but pls check with a travel agent, check wakanow.com or travelstart.com.ng or the website of your preferred airline. |

Hello Guys, I am going to a AIX training (IBM Operating System) in New York between September 16 - 19. Payment ($2,850) was made before invitation letter and receipt of payment was sent to me. I have been employed since September 2011 till date. I have traveled to Manila last year for training. My employer is paying for my trip for the training, hotel and feeding inclusive. I have also made hotel reservation in a hotel 1.5km away from the training venue. What are my chances like? What other documents do i need to go to the Embassy with? Kindly advise. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by AjanleKoko: 2:16pm On Jul 15, 2013 |
Nicesoul: Hello Guys, For yourself, you need your payslips, bank statements, and proof of any ties to Nigeria (wife, children, properties, savings, or whatever else you are invested in, in Nigeria). From your employer, you probably need to get a letter from them stating that they are responsible for the trip. If the company is not a known entity like a multinational, then you probably need their audited statements of account, certificate of incorporation, and any other proof that they exist. Of course you need the proof of the conference, like the invitation and evidence of payment/hotel booking. They may or may not look at all those documents. But you should have filled all that detail in the DS-160 anyways. Just have them on hand, they might be requested for. Best of luck. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by Nicesoul(m): 4:00pm On Jul 15, 2013 |
AjanleKoko: Thank you for your prompt response and update. For myself, i have: payslips bank statements proof of any ties to Nigeria (wife - Marriage Cert, children - None, properties - A house and land, savings - bank statement & shares. From my employer, i have: Study leave letter & Sponsorship letter. Its a Value Added Service (VAS) company for the telcoms Coy bank statements of account - available certificate of incorporation - available Tax cert - available. I am actually going for training not conference. Yes, i have invitation letter, receipt of payment and hotel booking confirmation. Note: There is no place on DS-160 where to fill ties to Nigeria. I have documents for all these though. Regards |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by AjanleKoko: 4:16pm On Jul 15, 2013 |
Nicesoul: @ bolded: You will be filling details regarding your marital status, salary and some other personal details on DS-160. They of course won't be asking if you have land or savings. The British do that. You only need to have them on hand, in case the CO asks for some evidence. Usually the whole interaction is not beyond five minutes. |

Re: Usa Visit Visa by blawi1(f): 8:04pm On Jul 15, 2013 |
@ kelvin your personal profile determines what route you go. If you're sincerely going on vacation then work on the requirements to satisfy the VO. If you do have a conference to attend that improves your skills on the job or a training for a few weeks that your company will sponsor or "claim to sponsor you for" then by all means pursue that. No path is particularly easier if you ask me. Some people say attending a work related event abroad is better, others swear visiting friends/family is easier. It is up to you. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by kelvinmitchell1: 10:41am On Jul 16, 2013 |
@blawi1, thanks for the reply i will like to know what will be the 1st thing to do to apply for visiting visa and i hope it will not require any letter from the people i want to visit like invitation letter. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by blawi1(f): 2:31am On Jul 17, 2013 |
@ Kelvinmitchell the 1st thing to do is to create a profile on ustraveldocs and tentatively fill a DS-160 form. Fill the details concerning you, your work and the person you're going to visit. Save the form and you can keep updating the info you have there until you're ready to submit later. THEN, you can ask your friend or US contact to send an invitation letter stating he/she is hosting you for the duration of your stay. The letter should be signed, scanned and emailed to you. You can print out and have ready in case it is asked of you @ d interview. Read thru every page of this thread, it will help you a lot. Most of your questions' answers lie in here. |

Good day NL, please this question goes out to anyone in the house who was granted a tourist visa, your gainfully employed and you sponsored yourself and also to the gurus in the house. after your successful interview at the embassy, how long did it take to get your visa and do you know if the embassy called you company to verify your employment status and salary earnings. |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by AjanleKoko: 1:26pm On Jul 17, 2013 |
baani: Good day NL, please this question goes out to anyone in the house who was granted a tourist visa, your gainfully employed and you sponsored yourself and also to the gurus in the house. You pick up your visa in 2 working days. I think with the new drop-box, it is now 3 working days. The embassy doesn't call any company to verify anything for visa categories B1/B2. Only in extremis, and they would have told you to go and come back. If they tell you, pick up your visa in 2 days, there is no further verification they do. |

Tzetzefly Hi, Is it ok for an undergraduate student to apply for US visiting visa 3 months before he intends to travel? He has never travelled out before but already has a UK visa, so he's thinking of visiting the UK then US in a round trip during Christmas. But he wants to apply next August/September. What would you advise? I also throw this out to other gurus. Thank you |
Re: Usa Visit Visa by blawi1(f): 9:04am On Jul 19, 2013 |
@ igbankebabe Sure he can apply early but no more than 3 months to d expected date of departure. But note the visa is dated from d interview date so he may as well go for d interview in November. |
