Kobojunkie:

Honest opinion . . . that jingle does not ring like something that win elections --- I mean it will work and I can help with that too. But I was looking for something more informative -- something that will shed light on our situation and why we need this change to the status quo.
i did not look at the FB link but i heard one on the radio today.was not as catchy as the BRF and even Dapo Durosimi-Etti ad i heard soon after.
well, we have to just keep pushing.
Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by mbulela: 10:33pm On Mar 31, 2011
monday should be our deadline to get something on the air.
Jarus/9ija, where do we stand presently?
Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by Kilode1: 10:36pm On Mar 31, 2011
They should just use a popular pidging gospel song and modify it, make people cry and think, just make them sit up or something inspirational like that.

But like I said, I'll go with whatever they have on the radio. Anything to increase the advert play time across the South West especially.
Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by Kobojunkie: 10:47pm On Mar 31, 2011
Definitely, we need a message of change associated with the Buhari/CPC name, and yes, I agree to the Monday deadline. If we can get it running for just one week on most stations in especially the south, I am good.

So,can we get a ball pack idea of how much that could cost? 1 week on various networks/stations?
Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by 9ijaMan: 11:11pm On Mar 31, 2011
It seems most of us are agreeing on the radio jingle option, I'll gladly tag along.
Jarus, you already have my email addy, drop our account info for me. I'll text it to you again in case you've lost it. I will also try to make the calls to those radio stations tomorrow.

Can anyone do a voice over that jingle on BB's FB page, extolling the virtues of the BB team and also informing the public why they should effect change by voting for the BB ticket.

I have never been interested in any of the presidential aspirants, to me they are all birds of the same feather. I can never be bothered because i believe the country will remain the same or get worst irrespective of who wins. I care less i am not in anyway interested in politics anyway and then . . . . . . . . . .

I read the article on casting the demon out of Bakare and for once i saw hope, wao! this man has got a mind of his own, a man who can not be pushed around, a man who would stand by his own words. This is definitely the man i want to see handle the affairs of my country. This is not about politics or parties  this is about integrity and i can see it in this man. I am yoruba, he is Hausa, i am a christian, he is a muslim but anyone with his/her right senses should know that this is about our future and not about race, religion, whatever.

I have not stopped making calls to my families, friends, ex ccolleagues church members back home and to my suprise i have been able to cconvincesome ppl who like me cant be bothered about voting to cast their votes for  this man.

I will keep making calls until the d day. If they rig it to favour any weakling well i would confidently say i tried my best. I am loving the feeling of finding my lost hope

How come we don't have some sort of yahoo messenger group or so for us to discuss strategies. We can meet online at fixed times and get this done.

Can you post a link to the article?

been having hard time convincing a particular friend, but all the same, he's getting soft.

Too much of sentimental support for GEJ by most of my southern friends.

Heard the jingles on channels and it was less than 15 seconds, not precise to my liking, wish it could rule out what BB ticket wants to do for the nation and not just "who will save Nigeria" message it has on it.

babytoun, I respect everyone's right to vote whoever they please. If truly you are open minded on this issue, I will be willing to explain one or two things to you on why I support Buhari but this thread is not the right place for it so we don't derail.

However, I strongly believe with all my heart that the CPC as led by Buhari/Bakare is the change Nigeria needs. If after four years they disappoint me, I am willing to admit I was wrong. But I am doing this without sentiments and every iota of my being.

I have never voted PDP in any elections but it didn't stop me from doing my best to support whoever won the past elections. I campaigned and complained when Goodluck was sidelined after Yaradua's illeness.

Its not about party, neither is it about the person. I want change in Nigeria. I get angry when my parents and grandparents tell me of the time milk was 70k or bag of rice was 20naira. What were they doing when Nigeria was plunging into this state we have found ourselves?

I have told myself that I will not be like my parents and do nothing while the country plunges into abyss. Read comments of independent and non partisan economists. Nigeria is not heading in the right direction. If we get it wrong this time, we MAY never recover.

So again, before cast our votes for who will rule us for the next four years, let us ask ourselves what kind of future we want for our children and children's children.

Thanks for your very mature response. Actually democracy is about freedom of expression provided it is within the perimeter allowed by the law. W

Now take a look at the report below which somehow replicate what i feel about Jonathan too.

WEDNESDAY, 30 MARCH 2011 00:00 OPEYEMI AGBAJE

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), a centrist, non-ideological “rally” has dominated Nigerian democracy since 1999. Having controlled the presidency, National Assembly and most state governorships and legislative houses for 12 years, it often has not acted as if it fully appreciates the weight of its moral and political responsibility! PDP can claim to be the party of national unity (evidently the bonds of power and money are deeper than tribe, tongue and faith!), economic reform and international acceptance. In the South-South, North-Central and South-East, PDP is the default party, and in the North, it is often the party of the mainstream establishment.

Ex-President Obasanjo reformed telecommunications; negotiated Nigeria’s re-acceptance into the international community and restored a sense of nationhood that dangerously tethered on the edge during Abacha’s days of terror. In his second term, Obasanjo assembled a strong economic team leading to the elimination of Nigerian foreign debt; pension reforms; banking consolidation; macroeconomic stability and strong fiscal management. He was less successful on social reforms with education, health and social infrastructure remaining sub-optimal and poverty endemic. Even though he eventually developed the right template for power sector reforms (Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005), Obasanjo failed in its implementation. Umaru Yar’adua’s tenure recorded only one major achievement-the Niger-Delta amnesty.

The PDP’s greatest failings are the quality of democratic practice, shameful elections conducted in 2003 and 2007 and deepening of corruption in Nigeria. Fortunately for the party, its opponents cannot claim substantive qualitative difference as politicians cross from party to party opportunistically such that sensible voters have now learnt to evaluate candidates for political office on the basis of individual assessments. When President Goodluck Jonathan became substantive president in May 2010, just 10 months ago, I wrote “Memo to Goodluck Jonathan” in which I argued (consistent with opinions expressed by other commentators and newspaper editorials) that given the short time at his disposal, he should concentrate on limited priorities-power, electoral reform and Niger-Delta. On each of these, the president scores an A!

He unveiled an excellent power sector road map designed to place the sector under private sector ownership and management; and executed it leading to expressions of interest from over 331 credible local and international investors. I will personally like Jonathan and Professor Barth Nnaji to conclude the implementation of this road map!!! Especially as his main opponents do not seem to understand what is required to reform the sector. In the short term, power production has reportedly risen to 4,000 MW. Current oil production figures of 2.6million barrels per day are a clear indicator of success of Jonathan’s Niger-Delta policy, (in spite of the activities of a strange “MEND” whose strategic objectives seem to tally with those of the “Northern Political Leaders Forum” (NPLF) rather than the Niger-Delta!!!) Jonathan appointed Professor Attahiru Jega INEC chairman and has conducted fairly credible elections in Anambra (where PDP lost) and Delta States. He provided every funding requested by INEC and freed up the political space, including by restoring ACN candidate Nuhu Ribadu’s AIG rank and permitting him and Nasir El-Rufai return from exile.

I do not know the point at which public opinion (or mass hysteria?) evolved into expecting Jonathan to solve in ten months all the problems of the Nigerian state accumulated over 5o years of independence, a clearly irrational expectation!!! But surprisingly Jonathan has recorded other successes. Education-new national secondary curriculum; highest budgetary allocation for education in 2011 budget proposals; a policy of establishing centres for entrepreneurial development in all federal universities; “Almajiri” education policy; and establishment of nine new federal universities; transportation-revival of rail systems; upgrading the Enugu airport to international status; achieving total radar coverage and US Category 3 status permitting resumption of direct flights; new terminal building at Aminu Kano Airport Kano; labour-new minimum wage and constitutional amendment on National Industrial Court.

Gas and Energy-”gas revolution” policy framework for leveraging gas for industrialisation; $3bn Oando/AGIP gas processing plant; petrochemical plant and several fertiliser plants in conjunction with foreign investors; refineries reportedly working at capacity and absence of fuel queues; roads-multiple ongoing road projects, including East-West and Coastal Road; citizens engagement on Facebook and proactive actions to rescue Nigerians in Egypt and Libya; revival of textile sector through government support; several industrial intervention funds for aviation, SMEs, entertainment, manufacturing, power etc; foreign policy-sensible diplomatic posture leading to strong roles in ECOWAS, UN and bilateral relations. Despite permutations, he united the PDP behind him trouncing the formidable Atiku Abubakar during the party’s primaries. In spite of severe provocations, he successfully navigated minefields during the Yar’adua vacuum and thereafter. He may yet deliver on important legislations-Sovereign Wealth Fund, Freedom of Information, and Petroleum Industry Bills and has already passed AMCON, minimum wage and money laundering/anti-terrorism bills.

Jonathan can claim to be the candidate of national unity, a federation of co-equal nationalities and national integration, freedom and openness, power sector reform, education and critical infrastructure. His major weakness is his party, but in spite of that, I think he is the sensible choice in these elections! I score him 7 for personal qualities; 6 on vision and leadership; 7 for policy platform and manifesto; 6 on economic management; 4 on anti-corruption; 8 for international relations; 8 on national unity and stability; 8 on democracy and institution-building; 7 for human rights, press freedom and open society; 6 for administration and execution and 6 bonus marks for his running-mate totalling 73 out of a possible 110 marks.

Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by 9ijaMan: 12:46pm On Apr 01, 2011
I just finished speaking with someone at WaZoBia FM and
had a 21 minutes of fruitful discussion with the lady I spoke with. In fact I was able to make her have a rethink about her support for Ribadu, which she originally revealed to me when I told her I'm a BB fan.
In any case, the figures I got from her are as given below:

Premium Time:
[li]5am to 12noon[/li]
[li]3pm to 5am[/li]
Regular Time
[li]12noon to 3pm[/li]
For the premium time, a spot (one time) advert will cost =N=2,928 for the first 15 seconds and the same amount for every additional 15 seconds.

The regular time slot will cost =N=2,352 for the first 15 seconds and every 15 seconds thereafter.

She said if we want to have several slots in a single day, we can negotiate with the marketing department for some discounts.

Please note that each slot is not limited to 15 seconds only. 15s is just the minimum time for a spot.

Good job again @9ijaman. Thank you bro!

@jarus, my contribution is on the way, should be there before the end of today.

@all the wazobia rates are reasonable considering the cost of other alternatives. Let's do the radio blitz. I also agree with mentioning the group as Jarus suggested, it encourages others and makes us accountable. I think those who have extra to spare should not forget the logistic needs the BB team keeps talking about. It seems important to them.
Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by Jarus(m): 1:10pm On Apr 01, 2011
Let me do Budget, based on 1 minute.

I will suggest we do 4 slots per day, 2 during premium period, another 2 during regular period

1 minute = 4 X 15 seconds
Regular per slot = 4 X 2,352 = 9,408
Premium per slot = 4 X 2,928 = 11,712

Per day = (2 X 9,408) + (2 X 11,712) = 42,240

Three days (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)= N126,720

Guys, if we are okay with this, start dropping into my a/c stated up there.

Next decision is what jingle are we using.

As regards payment method, 9ijaman, did you discuss that with the lady? Do we have to go there premises or how do we pay?

Pls time is not on our side, let's get this thing on air latest Tuesday next week.

Let's put something like 'Sponsored by XXXXXXXX'

Let's give ourselves one name as sponsor like 'Buhari/Bakare Vanguard, Nairaland.com' or 'Integrity Group, Nairaland.com' or 'Nairaland Progressives Coalition' or 'Talk-walkers - a coalition for the rescue of Nigeria, Nairaland.com'
Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by 9ijaMan: 1:19pm On Apr 01, 2011
Jarus, I didn't discuss the payment methods because she said we can still negotiate to beat down the price if we want to go with several spots per day. We may need to have someone on ground to handle this bit with the WaZoBia guys!

If we all agree to go for 4 slots per day as suggested by Jarus, I'll throw in 100K tonite.

Jarus if we have excess funds, just use it to increase the slots. I'll send the remaining 50K of the amount I was originally willing to drop into the BB campaign account in GTB.

I've just had a disturbing experience regarding one very critical issue the we seemed to be ignoring: the party's Logo.

Someone brought a sample of the ticket to my workplace, and even I had trouble identifying the logo.

We certainly have to do more in that regard.

Re: Report Your Efforts On Buhari-bakare Team Here by proudly9ja(m): 2:50pm On Apr 01, 2011
^^^ The logo is a big deal. On election day, INEC has said that there will be no names on the ballot paper only logos. We need to work on this!

I with a friend of mine have started making Big stickers and posters with emphasis on the logo and party name and less emphasis on the pictures of the contestants. We don't want people to go to the polls and not know which is CPC.

Thanks for your very mature response. Actually democracy is about freedom of expression provided it is within the perimeter allowed by the law. W

Now take a look at the report below which somehow replicate what i feel about Jonathan too.

Again, I wish there was another thread we could discuss this. Please if you find one, let's move it there.

I like the article you pasted but Im used to Naija politicians now. I can bring articles here from 2003 and 2007 (all election years) stating almost the same things. Obasanjo told us in 2006/2007 that power has increased to that same figure. Yaradua assured us that he will declare a state of emergency in the power sector within 100 days in office. Obasanjo took a train ride from Lagos to Ogun state in 2006 signifying the beginning of the revolution of our rail sector. We are still waiting for that revolution.

I don't know GEJ personally. I don't know if he has good intentions. However, I know politicians and I know PDP. It is easy to make promises like Yaradua/Goodluck made promises as per power. They also promised us that they will fight corruption. what did they do? They removed Ribadu and replaced with Waziri. Goodluck has been there for 10 months, Waziri is still EFCC chairman. Recently, he removed the ICPC head too and replaced him. He removed Aodoaaka the former AG and replaced with another corrupt person. It is the same cycle repeating itself. We have seen this all before. The rest of the oil producing countries have gained from the crisis in Libya except Nigeria, rather, except the Nigerian 'masses'. Our foreign reserves have depleted between January and now and there are no visible changes. Are these the people we want to trust for another four years?

I am not willing to take that chance with GEJ and PDP. 12 years is a lot to make a change. They have failed woefully.
