pdp ----------------------------------- power
pdp -----------------------------------power
p d and pppppppppp -------------------------------------- power to the criminals.
from 1999 till date, no man or woman with intergrity served and ended well under pdp and okonjo iweala and dora okunyili are living examples while Bole ige is a dead example.
i am seeing the situation in libya as a child's play compare to what we will give these criminals from april.
in a time the whole world is living on internet, this uninformed bribe taking policeman wants to deny us our freedom of recording.
God go kill this man before the election.
there is agreement that if anyone rigs, he will die and we will vote and protect our votes.

Its camera phones and the internet that are going to save this country. Soon, it will be impossible to hide the government's crimes. Like the mass murdering policemen during the Boko Haram crisis, all the vote riggers will be exposed on YouTube.

Everyone should take their phones with them to the polling booths. Film anything suspicious and post it on the internet. Take pictures of the result sheets. Don't let anybody intimidate you.

Ignore the re.tar.ded IGP. Don't let them get away with anything.

@OP

Why Africans in general and Nigerians in particular always show acts that were manifested by ill form of education. Cell phones and cameras could be banned in polling station for good reasons not only in Nigeria but in developed countries.

These devices should be allowed in the hands of designated officials conducting the election to avoid the menace of dubious individuals who have every intention to incite chaos and propagate insidious rumors that will truncate the intended transparency.

Shut the fxcuk up, u imbec*ile!!!

No, don't do that. Explain to the man why he's wrong and maybe you can convert him and others like him.

By insulting them you just make them more stubborn and less open to reason. Let's try and keep things civil and rational.

And also, don't feed trolls.

Apologies for bringing this up here but I need help. Is it possible to remove or block any advert I find offensive while enjoying my Nairaland? I make this inquiry because of the NAIRA PARTY advert with the naked lady showing her butt. I personally find it disgusting (no offence to the owner or those who like it). I'll appreciate any tip on blocking it and if there's none, I guess I may have to stop visiting Nairaland.

not sure what would be accomplished by cellphones and cameras anyway, but whatever.
Re: INspector General of Police bans the use of Phones and Camera On Election Day. by Dave6: 10:18am On Mar 26, 2011
I don't think such a suggestion will ever be taken seriously.
Haba! People will simply not come out to vote!
The whole exercise is even supposed to be aired on State Tvs.
Re: INspector General of Police bans the use of Phones and Camera On Election Day. by Dave6: 10:27am On Mar 26, 2011
Of course, recording by cameras/phones of the voting process of individuals (i.e recording who you or any other person voted for while casting his vote) should not be tolerated.
Monitoring of the whole process should be organised and respect the privacy of individual voters.
Re: INspector General of Police bans the use of Phones and Camera On Election Day. by Beaf: 10:41am On Mar 26, 2011
I don't see the purpose of banning phones at polling booths, any rigging is likely to be done by high tech means this time anyway. It doesn't make sense.

I've searched high and low for the news though, and not come up with anything remotely resembling the story. This is what the IG said, according to Vanguard, until someone can counter with a firm link, I will assume this thread is just propagating mischief:

Keep your distance from polling booths – IGP
NewsMar 26, 2011

By Kingsley Omonobi, Abuja
The Police will not allow anyone at polling stations after voting in the April polls but may “stay at a reasonable distance from the voting centre.”

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim said yesterday that this was part of the effort to keep the peace during the election.

Mr. Ringim, at a meeting with DIGs, AIGs and Police Commissioners said: “First of all, I want to assure all Nigerians that every vote will count. We will not allow you to vote, stay around and cause problems”.

“However, any one that votes and wants to ensure that the votes are not tampered with, is allowed to stay at a reasonable distance from the voting centre, so that he or she does not constitute a threat. We will not allow you to vote, stay around the polling station and cause problems”.

“In the build up to the elections, we have faced major security situations with events that posed serious threats to national security. We have done our best in those situations and we hope to do our best in the proper election exercise.

I must however warn against partisanship by any police/security personnel in the course of prosecuting the election. The force will not tolerate any act of unpatriotism on the part of anyone”

“Police officers attached to government functionaries, state chief executives, federal ministers and members of the national assembly as well as security details must maintain the briefs of their postings. Escort duties on election days must be scaled down and restricted accordingly”.

“For the avoidance of doubt, with the exception of Mr. President, Governors/Deputy Governors, Senate President/Deputy Senate President, Speaker/Deputy Speaker, whose ADCs’ will be duly directed on their expected conduct during elections, all other government functionaries; ministers, members of the national assembly, etc, will be accompanied by only one police security to cast their votes after which they will return to their homes”.

“On no account should anyone irrespective of their status, be allowed to parade about with police or any other form of security at polling booths or other electoral centre’s. Policemen or personnel of other security agencies found on such escort duty should be promptly arrested. Similarly, movements be politicians accompanied by retinue of political aides or thugs are equally prohibited and should not be allowed around polling venues”.

“Command Commissioners of Police should therefore ensure that all VIP’s security personnel within their states adhere to these directives. Squadron Commanders should be directed to take note of this as well”.

Emphasizing that the senior officers have the full support of the Police administration and that of the federal government in the onerous responsibility, the IG told them, “Entertain no interference, be professional, be strong, be fair but please be firm.

Employ the full weight of your authority under the electoral act and all other subsisting laws in executing this election as we must get it right this time”.

I sensed this rigging coming a long time ago when I remember that at a certain time when President Goodluck Jonathan was Governor of Bayelsa State, the present IGP was his Commissioner of Police.I am not surprised that what I am seeing now is one that is there to cover Mr Jonathan's back. May God salvage this nation from the hand of those that wish her evil.
