i personally think its Nigerians who give international media the opportunity to generalize and readily agree to all the bad comments passed against them. . i went to the bank about 2 months ago, to check the TT my dad sent to me from Nigeria, because it delayed a little. as i was trying to explain to one of the bankers there, he was like from which country was the money sent from. and i told him Nigeria. and he said ohhhhh. that well he was sorry to say that every TT coming in from Nigeria has to be investigated, because Nigeria is known for fraud. i told him, i thought he was stupid for telling me that, and he was one of the educated illiterates, who was opportune to sit behind a counter. the guy was so surprised. he could not say anything. After the incident i stopped banking there. Another incident was a friend who's dad sent about 6000USD for the whole year school fees. the bank called her. she went to the bank and they started asking her all sort of questions. concerning the money. it got to a point they said the money was not going to be released till proper investigation was done because it was sent from Nigeria. my friend got so pissed off, and threatened to sue them to the court on the basis of racism. this kind of cooled them and they released her money. she immediately closed her account there. this is what most Nigerians outside the country face. some do not like to bring out their green passport out, their reason is because they don't want people to say blah blah blah. How do we stop the international media from generalizing and portraying all Nigerians bad. when most of us, admit and dumbly agree to the bad things they say about us. i personally think. which ever IDIOT wants to support the international media. i suggest you speak for yourselves and family. and i maintain the statement. WHOEVER SAYS AN AVERAGE NIGERIAN IS A FRAUDSTER, REMEMBER YOUR PAPA, MAMA, AND ALL YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO THE FOURTH GENERATION ARE ALSO FRAUDSTERS. |

Where is the average Nigerian? The average Nigerian is in Nigeria, most probably Lagos (the melting pot). Forget about all those living outside Nigeria, in this situation they can be conveniently considered as outliers. Can 140 million people, who on the average are not fraudulent, allow a fraudulent government rule over them for (at least) eight years? I always remember one evening at the NYSC camp in Lagos; OBJ was president then. A group of corpers (maybe 15) were having a discussion about Nigeria. All were complaining about the level of corruption in the system and gave ample anecdotes. Then the question was asked "how many of you will I think a more appropriate question would be "why the average Nigerian is fraudulent?". |

@ TOPIC Just because you're Fraudulent, does not mean every hardworking Nigerian is fraudulent. please only speak for yourself. no one appointed you as our spokesperson. If you think you're fraudulent, please give yourself up to the nearest police station and spare us of your stupidity and inferiority complex. |

ThoniaSlim: Yes oh! I agree! That is why my relatives live in Nigeria and I live here. You see, being an average fraudulent Nigerian is highly contagious and harzardous to your immune system and may cause AIDS like the HIV virus! So make them siddon for there make me siddon for here! Chikena! I will visit them once a while to see how the illness is progressing or if research has found a cure! |

Most if not all of 'em fools living abroad don't know jackshit about their country!! I mean, this statement alone from some Militant ala MEND wannabe cracked me up >> . . .most Nigerians are not the average Nigerians ROFLMAO. . .so who the Bleep then is the average Nigerian? In a country of 140 million and still country, on a rough estimate - more than 65% lower class, living below the poverty line - and then most Nigerians are not the average Nigerian? Let me tell you who the average Nigerian is you pathetic fcuks - the petty trader selling by the roadside, the truckpushers pushing heavy loads through the streets, the buns and puff-puff seller by the roadside trying to get that paper, the purewater seller hustling during traffic jams, the 7yr olds hawking bread with their mothers, the obiomas patching those worn out trousers, the shoe makers and street cobblers going from house to house, the dirty mechanics and rewirers, the okada riders and taxi drivers with their rickety cars - those are the fuckin' average Nigerians you bastards look down on everyday in your bid to feel 'better' and 'superior'. Till you live through/see what these kind of people live through everyday, then you don't know jackshit about the average Nigerians. As a matter of fact, your kind need to shut the hell up. |

Re: Is The Average Nigerian Fraudulent? by hucarson(m): 4:55pm On Jul 15, 2007 |
an average Nigerian is very, very fraudulent. who thinks an average nigerian isn't dodgy, deceitful and dangerous? a country where parents openly encourage their kids to cheat in exams, lie about their ages, and even defraud government organisations. nigerians are so fraudulent that we see the act of embezzlement as taking out our share of the NATIONAL CAKE. there's fraud in every sphere of life in Nigeria and it cuts across age, sex and tribe. a day trip to the american embassy or the british high commision in lagos might also give u an idea of what i am talking about here. people, out of desperation sometimes put in as many as 15 visa applications to travel out of the country at the same time. different names, different dobs(date of births). its like a lottery. the general intention is that the probability of failure is so low. at least one application will score. this topic is no issue at all. |

Re: Is The Average Nigerian Fraudulent? by Jackal(m): 5:36pm On Jul 15, 2007 |
@ Thoniaslim, Not necessarily. The average Nigerian does not qualify all the citizens of Nigeria. Of course, there are honest people but the number of fraudulent citizens greatly outnumbers the honest ones. I have done an intensive research work on Nigeria and what i found out was both appaling and shocking. Our past leaders are PLONKERZ!!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Is The Average Nigerian Fraudulent? by samsilo(m): 6:10pm On Jul 15, 2007 |
@ gbade.x those average Nigerians ,farmer ,okada rider, taxi driver, carpenter, brick layer etc work very hard but more than 50% of them will rip you off at the slightest opportunity. I keep saying Nigerians are too sensitive to the word fraud, it does not mean only 419 or yahoo yahoo. If you be fast guy or smart guy or you will take advantage of some ones ignorance in any way then you are fruadulent. @ThoniaSlim that girl that was forming and closed her account because her dad sent £6000 and it was being questioned ,how much is the dad's salary. While some go form many people can boldly tell you thier parents got rich through stealing govt money. Do you think Babangida's Tafa or Alami's kids will ever agree thier parents stole while in office |

Re: Is The Average Nigerian Fraudulent? by gbadex1(m): 10:01pm On Jul 15, 2007 |
exactly the point denex - no comment, let this anamu MILITARY keep yapping her hole, typical of someone who hasn't been to the country in probably 20 years to see what the masses go through but can sit on some moral high horse and judge people you have no idea about. @ samsilo: i get ur point. But then is this problem to branded as Nigerian simply because Nigerians do it? Lest i forget, are we talking of all facets of fraud or just '19? If it's the case of '19, you forget that there are 140 million people, and the yahoo boys constitute a small percentage. It is erronous to then generalise that/brand the average Nigerian as fraudulent, 419-wise of course. About rippin' people off. . .negro please! Tell me where it is in this world that market traders and operators of small businesses don't rip consumers off. The same shit occurs in developed countries, do they go ahead to brand the average citizens of such countries as fraudulent? And please don't give me that it-is-done-mostly-in-nigeria BS. PS: please see where i'm coming from. i don't get sensitive about fraud in Naija, when i worked at a cybercafé, i sent abuse reports to yahoo concerning scammers that sent fraud mails to my box, sent addresses of these scammers to EFCC's website. What i get sensitive and pissed off about is the tendency of Nigerians abroad to look down on Nigerians in Naija, heap blames of whatever crime that a Nigerian commits on local Nigerians, and the mindset that nothing good will ever come out of Nigeria. |

Is this love or what? Yahoo boy! When you worked at a cyber cafe? Are you not still working there? Did I not see you on CNN being busted with that "Wendy" girl in your international crime spree between London, America and Switzerland? You are a real 419ner oh! Who cares abut your feelings anyway? Shit! |

@angel101 if some people are not making sense to you, it's not because they don't know that they are saying. It's because they're trying to maximise their number of posts and they don't mind saying what they do not know. |
