I laugh when some are writing off themselves from making cool cash freelancing whatever skill they have via Upwork, Fiverr, and co because they are Nigerian. On Fiverr, in the business plan niche, I know a Nigerian lady (a sharp guy though grin) who is making a splash. As I am typing this she has 21 orders in queue.

Nigerians are killing it on Fiverr and other freelancing platforms. Do not dilly dally if you have a skill to sell.

That's great! I think the problem that is common to every freelancer that always complains is laziness. You must always be online and also try not to miss a chat for instance on Fiverr and you reduce sleeping all night. Creat heart-blowing gigs. Moreover, don't forget God in your equation. Remember you are not the only one on the platform. #Be prayerful and offer excellent jobs whenever the opportunity comes.
What services do you offer?

Depends on how consistent you are with learning. But on the average, 3 months is the highest cause ui/ux also has graphics in it which includes illustrator, photoshop and sometimes Indesign .

Do you still have the link to the tutorials you took? Or you learnt it one on one?

I'd drop a few tips for newbies on Freelancer.com and Upwork.com ( I don't use Fiverr).

1) You need to be online all the time. All the freaking time. This means you'd need:
a) Very regular power supply
b) Fast internet.

2) Drop your hourly rates and bid amounts. As you're starting out, don't have "big eyes" except you have a really outstanding portfolio. Make your bid as fair as possible to the clients budget. If budget is, say, $30-$250. Your bid should be around $50-ish. Right now, you need reviews. So do the job well at the best possible price and get great reviews.

3) Build a good an outstanding portfolio.

4) Stay awake more at night. Target times from 1300 to 2400 hrs WAT.

5) BE CONSISTENT. Look at it as an actual job and treat it as such. Don't expect to put in time whenever you feel like it or are free and yet want to make a killing. Joke's on you!

6) BE MORE CONSISTENT.

7) Craft good proposals. Short but good! Also try to be among the first ten person's to drop a proposal (both on Upwork and Freelancer). Talk about the project, the client and how you intend to bring value to the project in your proposal and less about you.

8.) Keep to timelines! Don't give unrealistic timelines.

9) Politely ask for 5-star rating when job is completed.

10) Don't give up easy!

God luck!!!
all what this guy said is the truth... But I will add more to it.

When starting up, DO NOT BE GREEDY... Only charge an exorbitant amount when you have done many works.

Learn to write good proposal...

I don't advise anyone to apply for work that gat 10 to 15 proposals sent, so you don't waste your connect.

Lastly, exercise patience... It may take time, BUT ONCE YOU GET THAT FIRST JOB, IT BECOMES EASIER TO GET MORE.

While you may later earn as a Nigerian, it is difficult at first. Also if u are in the writing niche u will experience more difficult
yeah, most clients need a Native English speaker( I.e, someone born in the US, UK, Netherland, and any country that English is their first language.)

But if you show such client that you have good knowledge of English via the proposal you sent, he will have no choice than to hire YOU.

All my clients are Americans.

LOL. You are short changing yourself. If you are as good as you said you are, then you have more chances of making more money with foreign clients. Nowadays, I catch my clients on freelance sites and take them out of there.

Working from home is sweet, my neighbours think I'm into yahoo or something.

I am yet to understand how upwork works especially with 'connects'. I got tired of it sincerely

I make over 350k per month from Upwork. That's not much because that's only $750. If you're serious and good at what you do, you can make up to $5k. I know what I'm saying.
will u teach me?

I resigned from my job to work as a full time freelancer. Been making nothing less than 500k/mo since last year and my life has changed. I'm into video editing/motion graphics/animations.

You need to up your game and make yourself competitive. Ditch saturated fields and ensure you send proposals till you get a job. As a newbie, it's hard to break in but once you do and can satisfy your clients, you won't have to be sending so many proposals again.

Also, ensure you have stable electricity ( solar inverter strongly recommended), fast internet and a good laptop. If not, you'll be missing deadlines due to NEPA wahala.

Upskill!
There are thousands who can write, do graphics design etc...

I personally also prefer Upwork to Fiverr. On Upwork you get gigs from big companies who pay well compared to individuals that pay peanuts on Fiverr. Stopped using Fiverr since last year.

Do u do training. Can I Chat with you on WhatsApp

Hello guys, there has been a lot of fuss about freelance work, I finally learnt ui/ux after a long period of reluctance. I have good laptop, good phone et al but the zeal hasn’t been that strong, I am augmenting the ux with graphics design so I can perfect it.

Each time I visit upwork as a freelancer, tones of jobs keep popping up on the graphics and ui/ux design section, haven’t even visited fiverr sef, so I want to know how viable it is getting jobs there, as a Nigerian, as a black, just want to know the hurdles you all working there face cause I am not learning this to work for Nigerians as the pay is very bad.

Please help a brother, if e no go give me better money make I kuku park face, thanks as you share your experience

You can't get what you're looking for here.
For you to succeed you don't need validation from others.

Those success stories you read about are from people who go out there to conquer. Go out there with a determination of a lion which doesn't eat dead animals but fresh ones. Behave as if nothing matters but ur success.

Sir, please can u kindly help me list out the unsaturated fields with good pay..

I'm almost done with my web development training, and it seems web dev. Is among the saturated field..

Please help a brother, before hunger go wear me nose mask if web Dev go delay my freelancing incomes

There are several fields though. It's for you to research and then upskill in whichever you chose. If you're doing web development, learn several languages and illustration so you can have an edge.

Sorry for late reply, every tutorial was from youtube, even though it’s not arranged, let me give you a clue;

What is UI/ ux

Difference between UI and UX

What is wireframe
What is mock-up
What is prototype
Getting used to colours
Softwares used in UI/ UX design, master at least two, figma and Adobe xd
Getting started with design
Mobile and web designs difference
Widths and lengths
What is responsiveness
How to master the pen tool
Components, groups and frames
How to gain ideas on different design processes
Websites for ui/ux design, example, icons and objects needed for design, icons8.com etc
There is more, just follow these few key points to get started

You will later get to photoshop to lay out designs on a 3ds
Illustrator for 2 and 3D designs for websites etc

Bro, please I need someone to lead me on this Fiverr platform... I offer Architectural services and I have gotten a few jobs on Upwork... I have good contents and also very good at what I do but I don’t just seem to have a way around this Fiverr thing.

You've broken even on Upwork and you're still looking for Fiverr...

Stick to the Upwork! It can give you consistent streams my brother. I'm in the same field as you. I just strive to learn more every day. When I'm not earning, I'm learning. Literally!!!
