VAT law was made by PDP? So before 1999 that PDP came to power, Nigeria was not collecting VAT ? Ode!

If you must know, VAT is not on the exclusive list constitutionally. It is only things that are in the exclusive list that is solely under the purview of the FG. As long as it is not on the exclusive list, states have the right to legislate on it and Rivers and Lagos have done so. More states to join soon. Cry me a river! No wonder the DG of FIRS quickly wrote to the National assembly so they can put VAT under the exclusive list.

You are the one making this issue about PDP, APC or Buhari. Funny enough, States that have passed the VAT law are both PDP (Rivers) and APC (Lagos). More APC and PDP states are lining up to join the league. You are the only one seeing it from a political viewpoint.


We have all been clamouring for restructuring and more devolution of powers to states and local governments. If however, it will take court judgements to do it, so be it. This is not about PDP, APC or Buhari. It is about equity, fairness and justice. For example, If you don't allow some certain products in your states (like alcohol), you have no right to VAT from such products. If Cattles and other non alcoholic businesses is what you allow in your state, collect VAT from those businesses. In this way, states will be forced to increase their IGR than always depending on handouts from the FG. The US system we copied, this is how they operate. You can't collect VAT from New York and give part of it to California. New york collect it's VAT. California collects it's own.

Are you aware that all the 36 states of the federation have dragged the FG to court on the issue of Stamp duty? All 36 states o, including PDP and APC states. Is this about Buhari too? Useless Zombie! Your wailing just began!
