Is that the best form of advertisement BUGS12?It takes real work to attract people to your site and not in this manner.This is "stoneage" kind of doing things.Let your work advertise for you bro.Nothing personal

SES 5 (Sirius 5) Prepared For Launch.

Launch Preparations continue at the Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, to get an International Launch Services Proton-M/Briz-M Rocket ready for blastoff on Tuesday, June 19 to start a 9-hour, 12-minute mission to deliver the SES 5 Communications Satellite to Geostationary Transfer Orbit.

SES 5, also called Sirius 5, is a commercial communications Satellite that was built by Space Systems/Loral and is operated by SES World Skies. It will become part of the SES Fleet of Satellites. It will be operational for at least 15 years providing high performance and extensive coverage for direct-to-home broadcasting, broadband, point-to-point, and VSAT services in Europe and Africa.

Designed to be located at 5 degrees East, it is configured with two Ku-band beams, one serving customers in the Nordic and Baltic countries and the other serving Sub-Saharan Africa. It has a total of 36 active Ku-band transponders available. The spacecraft also has two C-band beams, one with global coverage and one with hemispheric coverage, which can be operated with up to 24 active C-band transponders. The satellite design also includes a Ka-band uplink capability, allowing for flexible operations between Europe and Africa. The secondary payload is an L-band system for the European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service (EGNOS), which is being developed by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission (EC).

Very good observation bro. The moment we stop this 'Pull Him Down Syndrome' and corruption and think where we Africans are coming from, we will be greater than the rest of the world. Ancient Africa was great but when we allowed ourselves to be 'civilised' by whites we lost it. Africa was great, see this: http://churchofcriticalthinking.org/dogon.html
or http://www.timstouse.com/EarthHistory/Egypt/GreatPyramid/interestingfacts.htm and many other sites. The whiteman is busy right now making policies that will make Africa remain as it is, and we clap hands.

Why am I losing all my Nilesat channels when they move from Nilesat 101 to 102? I get Nilesat 101 on my 1.8m dish but BBC World News is now red because it has moved to 102. Any solution apart from a bigger dish or any other way I can get BBC? Thanks

Im afraid there might be no solution other than getting a bigger dish. I have a 4metre dish i use for my Nilesat since 2007 and sometime last year i lost My favourite dubai sport cos Nilesat 201 is more beyond our reach now. Depending on ur location though. If u are in the north, 3metres might do the trick but my 4metres couldnt get dubai sport
Re: Free To Air Satellite Tv General Thread by GeorgeD1(m): 4:17pm On Jun 16, 2012
@Toba,
Your problem with nilesat is not the size of your dish but rather its quality and
installation. Badaru is also in lagos like yourself and is using a 3m dish for nilesat
with no problems. Remember we have talked about this on several occasions in the past?

Good Evening James Mac,

Frequency 11766 H 27500 on Nilesat 101 hosting BBC World Switched satellite to Nilesat 201.
Other frequencies that have Switched over from Nilesat 101 to Nilesat 201 include;
11747 V 27500
11823 V 27500
11843 H 27500
And 12015 V 27500

Alternative for BBC English,
Currently BBC English TV Channel test card on Intelsat 10-02 C band, frequency 4025 R (V) SR 7325
BBC English test card has replaced BBC Arabic.
Hope once the channel starts to televise, they will not encrypt it.
