This move totally makes no sense! Its not as if Boko Haram targeted only Southerners. If anything they are doing us a favor killing themselves. Even though its better to be proactive rather than be reactive, this group should have waited for any attempted attack on the south b4 making such comments. Personally I hate issuing warnings. Like Tuco said in the good, the bad and the ugly. If you are going to talk, talk! and if you are going to shoot, shoot! Immense power lies in anonymity / unpredictability.

MEND like Boko Haram no send anybody but remember that their agenda are different.
MEND has a good case while BH is just a terrorist sect borne out of sheer wickedness and illiteracy.

they are also geographically at  opposite parts of the country so no clashing will happen.

It would have been nice if they were better structured and start probing the politicians by force with
evidence of budgets and other docs and then start slaughtering the corrupt politicians.

Everybody who has posted so far has missed the point. Okay let us assume that this new group wants to fight Boko Haram, which camp or bases of Boko Haram have they identified that they want to attack? This is just a sponsored group by certain people who think they can exert pressure on the folks they perceive to be the sponsors of Boko Haram. It is not practical and cannot work.

The internet has really given people with little political understanding space to congregate and make issues out of petty things. If Boko Haram were so obvious as MEND was with their camps, the Army would have cleared them and that is the truth. If the army cannot do it, how will this newly contrived contraption do it? It is just saber-rattling and propaganda.

You can all continue to bomb yourself. Just keep it to your delta and sahara. Don't let it affect a single inch of Yorubaland or any part of oduduwa republic. Bunch of militants.
Re: Nigerian Militants Challenge Boko Haram ! For Real by shady26(m): 1:44pm On Jul 20, 2011
I do not support any form of armed struggle or agitation(i stil think BH r not on dsame page wit MEND).i feel if both mend nd boko r spoiling for a showdown, thy should do us all a favor nd meet each other half way btwn north nd south, dats like abuja i think eheh, thn thy can start blown things up.dat way everybodies prob will be solved either way cos FG nd our politicians r goin to join d fight.simpl way of getn attentn or r they all cowards afterall?

Boko haram has adopted guerrilla tactics in unleashing their terror and it has been successful so far against the military.who says they have to be organized in a camp like before they can be regarded as terrorists ? This is exactly why the Nato forces in Afghanistan have been unsucessful in winning the war against the taliban because they are scattered in the mountainous terrain of afghanistan border.

Dude dont be deceived, they do have a base. Entities like theirs do not can not operate by converging and diverging as many of us think. Information is paramount in this kind of settings. And with that said, we all know that word of mouth is the fastest, most discreet and trust worthy form of communication. you don't expect them to talk over the phone or emails knowing these devices used are easily tapped. BTW its still just a terrorist group, and is yet to develop / evolve into an ideology movement, so cant operate without a base.

Da Doctor:

The truth is that no be only Boko Haram sabi fight guerilla warfare o. Let's just pray that other militants don't adopt their tactics. That means Nigeria will disintegrate into tiny factions.

Re: Nigerian Militants Challenge Boko Haram ! For Real by aikuda(m): 3:20pm On Jul 20, 2011
I think say this matter no concern Niger Delta militants. They should stay out of this fight and not drag the rest of the south into this mess. I know we are already in,  but they should not complicate issues. They are not helping Jonathan by doing this. They are actually making it difficult for him to act.

I hate to say this, but this Boko Haram issue might end up bringing UP the solution that Nigeria needs. Leaders of the North are all afraid now. At least all leaders should be thinking about the oppression that have subjected their people to since independence. I wish they could only target the corrupt leaders ( be they from the north or from the south) and not the innocent Nigerians that they are killing to push their agenda. In a twisted way, maybe something good can come out of this.

Re: Nigerian Militants Challenge Boko Haram ! For Real by maasoap(m): 3:53pm On Jul 20, 2011
Terrorists are ready to protect their son, our president? And for those of you who are still saying that MEND are fighting for a just course, how does that correlate with bombing and murdering of innocent souls on independent day and at Atlas Cove City? After all, they gave warning, claimed responsibility and apologised to the victims' families.
These people know that Nigerians are gullible and they like sensational news. If not, how do they plan to get to North, by land, water or air? With weapons or without weapons when affected states are full of military? Where are they going to locate or meet Boko Haram members? How many of them? Their brothers should tell them before they embark on suicide mission that military won't differentiate them from BH. And they should bear it in mind that that sect is more stubborn than them, and battle/war is not about superior firearms alone but also your dedication to your course. Or, are they simply planning to attack Northerners living in SS? Childish story for nairaland kids.

And they should bear it in mind that that sect is more stubborn than them, and battle/war is not about superior firearms alone but also your dedication to your course.

It looks like you have a lot of admiration for this Boko Haram capability with that statement. Anyway, as I said before no be only them sabi fight guerilla warfare. You should know that Boko Haram have sponsors that will soon be identified. Otherwise how do they get the sophisticated bombing equipment they are using? If I were a smart militant and I want to fight  a group like Boko Haram, I will anonymously target their sponsors, and poof! Boko will be gone like that. Cut of their help and they will be helpless. I know its easier said than done, but its possible. However, this is bad idea for Nigeria.

All these militants are fighting for their now cause, lets not paint any of them with a saintly brush.

You are missing the point, if the Army cannot get Boko Haram for whatever reason, is it this mouthy newly created rag-tag group that will get them?

My point exactly, conventional armies find it difficult to beat guerrilla groups. So the thought of some newly-assembled militia beating them is laughable. The creators of this new group know this, they are just making noise, who are they going to attack when they cannot identify the enemy?
