Then how comes I won when the rules does not permit me? Then remember that in the EDV online form age limit was considered by U.S. Department and that is the reason why my age was accepted... But I m just hearing this for the 1st time..My sister won at 14 and she was giving visa. she is with my uncle in L.A. how comes? Please read dv instruction 20.

20. IS THERE A MINIMUM AGE FOR APPLICANTS TO APPLY FOR THE E-DV PROGRAM?
There is no minimum age to apply for the program, but the requirement of a high school education or work experience for each principal applicant at the time of application will effectively disqualify most persons who are under age 18.

According to my understanding, as long as I have finished high school with my waec then "There is no minimum age to apply for the program" applies and nullifies the conditional statement "but.........." what do you think? most important, my passport misplacement is my concern.. how much is interview fee now sir?

Kemzone2003: I Decided To Put This Piece Because I Have Read So Many Comment On No Five Credit No Visa Issue For Nigerian Applicant.
But We Fail To Understand That It Is Not Just Experience In Any Job But Specific Job Category.

In The Case Of Example 1.An Instrument And Control Technicain Is Job Category Three Therefore Does Not Qualify But
Example 2 Enforcement Officer Who Had 3 Credit At O Level But Have Five Year Experience Will Qualify Because The Job Category Falls In Zone 4 And Svp(7.0 And Above)

The Reason Why They Insist On Five Credit For Those Want To Qualify On Academic Qualification In Case Of Nigeria Is That By Our Educational System Only Five Credit Will Qualify You For Further Studies To Post Secondary Level

Step 1: Confirm Your Eligibility

The principal diversity visa applicant must have a high school education, or its equivalent, or two years of qualifying work experience, under provisions of United States (U.S.) law. This was explained in the DV Instructions for your eDV entry.

High School Education: A high school education means successful completion of a formal course of elementary and secondary education comparable to completion of a 12-year course in the U.S.

Work Experience: If you are qualifying with work experience, you must have two years of experience in the last five years, in an occupation which, by U.S. Department of Labor definitions, requires at least two years of training or experience that is designated as Job Zone 4 or 5, classified in a Specific Vocational Preparation (SVP) rating of 7.0 or higher. The U.S. Department of Labor provides information on job duties, knowledge and skills, education and training, and other occupational characteristics at their website http://online.onetcenter.org/. The O*Net online database groups work experience into five "job zones." While many occupations are listed, only certain specified occupations qualify for the Diversity Visa Program.

How To Find the Qualifying Occupations on the Department of Labor Website: Qualifying DV Occupations are shown on the Department of Labor O*Net Online Database. Follow these steps, when you are in O*Net Online to find out if your occupation qualifies:

•Under "Find Occupations" select "Job Family" from the pull down;
•Then Browse by “Job Family”. (For example, select Architecture and Engineering) and click "GO";
•Then click on the link for your specific occupation. (As an example, select Aerospace Engineers. At the bottom of this Summary Report for Aerospace Engineers, under the Job Zone section, you will find the designated Job Zone 4, SVP Range, 7.0 to < 8.0. This means using this example, Aerospace Engineering is a qualifying occupation.)
If you do not have either the required education or qualifying work experience, you are not eligible to be issued a diversity visa. Only you, as the principal applicant, must meet this requirement. Your spouse and children do not have to meet this requirement. Do not continue with this application if you do not meet the qualifying education or work experience requirements explained above

http://www.travel.state.gov/visa/visa_4756.html

For Example 1
Summary Report for:
49-2094.00 - Electrical and Electronics Repairers, Commercial and Industrial Equipment
Repair, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment, such as industrial controls, transmitters, and antennas.

Sample of reported job titles: Control Technician, Electronics Technician, Industrial Electrician, Electrical Technician, Electrician, Electrical and Instrument Technician (E&I Tech), Instrument and Electrical Technician (I&E Tech), Electrical and Instrument Mechanic, Repair Technician, Service Technician

Title Job Zone Three: Medium Preparation Needed
Education Most occupations in this zone require training in vocational schools, related on-the-job experience, or an associate's degree.
Related Experience Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations. For example, an electrician must have completed three or four years of apprenticeship or several years of vocational training, and often must have passed a licensing exam, in order to perform the job.
Job Training Employees in these occupations usually need one or two years of training involving both on-the-job experience and informal training with experienced workers. A recognized apprenticeship program may be associated with these occupations.
Job Zone Examples These occupations usually involve using communication and organizational skills to coordinate, supervise, manage, or train others to accomplish goals. Examples include food service managers, electricians, agricultural technicians, legal secretaries, interviewers, and insurance sales agents.
SVP Range (6.0 to < 7.0)

THIS JOB EXPERIENCE DO NOT QUALIFY FOR DV LOTTERY THEREFORE ONLY EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION NOTE CAN QUALIFY YOU IN THIS CASE

EXAMPLE 2

Summary Report for:
13-1041.01 - Environmental Compliance Inspectors
Inspect and investigate sources of pollution to protect the public and environment and ensure conformance with Federal, State, and local regulations and ordinances.

Sample of reported job titles: Enforcement Officer, Environmental Scientist, Environmental Specialist, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act Enforcement Officer (RCRA Enforcement Officer), Compliance Investigator, Environmental Quality Analyst, Environmental Protection Specialist, Inspector, Toxics Program Officer, Waste Management Specialist

Job Zone
Title Job Zone Four: Considerable Preparation Needed
Education Most of these occupations require a four-year bachelor's degree, but some do not.
Related Experience A considerable amount of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is needed for these occupations. For example, an accountant must complete four years of college and work for several years in accounting to be considered qualified.
Job Training Employees in these occupations usually need several years of work-related experience, on-the-job training, and/or vocational training.
Job Zone Examples Many of these occupations involve coordinating, supervising, managing, or training others. Examples include accountants, sales managers, database administrators, teachers, chemists, environmental engineers, criminal investigators, and special agents.
SVP Range (7.0 to < 8.0)

THIS JOB WILL QUALIFY FOR A DV LOTTERY EVEN WITHOUT FIVE CREDIT ONCE YOU HAVE DOCUMENTS OF EMPLOYMENT HISTORY IN THE JOB CATEGORY JOB ZONE 4 AND SVP(7.0 AND ABOVE)
I actually took time to read what you posted but sincerely i doubt if that is accepted in NIgeria because its boldly written at the embassy that if you dont have 5credits or its equivalent,do not proceed. Am not trying to discourage anyone here ooo but its just what i saw there and i stand to be corrected by any one in the house. Those with less 5credits but years of work experience can go ahead with their application and lets see the result. Goodluck!

It may cost around 250-300k for the whole processing including visa fees. I said so becos : medical for 2people - 50k,police report for 2people - 15k,visa fees in naira - 160000. I also put in to consideration the visa fees of the baby just incase the baby comes before the interview. if you read tru the begining of this thread, you will see the stories of those that have gone tru similar case like yours.

TEMMYTANNY...Please read this....from Nigerian Embassy(Link below)...There is no general rule...the fact that the woman with NABTEB did not get VISA did not mean they do not accept NABTEB but if she did not provide a proof that she complete 6-3-3 (12yrs) Nigeria System with WAEC & Secondary School Testimonial complemented with NABTEB...SHE WILL NOT QUALIFY

Education Credentials
Those who have successfully completed high school must take the West African Examination Council (WAEC) examinations to receive their diplomas or enter a university. The examinations are scored on a scale of 1 to 9, with 1 being the best and 9 the worst. To enter a university, the applicant must have received credit (a score of 1-6) in five subjects. For diploma programs, he or she must have received 3 or 4 credits. Scores of 7 or 8 are only ordinary passes and give no credit. A score of P8 or F9 indicates failing. There is a national WAEC office in Lagos where all results can be checked to verify educational level.

you got me wrong,i never disqualified anyone with NABTEB even when a couple came here to ask,i told them they are qualified only for them to go and got denied. Even when they were denied,i told the house that they werent given not because of the NABTEB but because of their performance during the interview. THe area am confused about is the age limit and issue of 5 credits which you have explain above. I want you enlighten people here dats i want you to visit this thread often to help out.

the best for the guy is to register WAEC/GCE & NECO/GCE now because registration is in progress. He should find better centre to register because he must have 5 credits. He shouldn't send any forms back to kcc now ( don't further processing now),he should wait till decemeber or preferably next year, which the result will out by february/march and it's not late. If he refuse to do all these ,he should forget about it.

I would have prefer that he wait until January, 2013 before sending his documents to KCC, wht if the result doesn't come out in February? and u cant reschedule interview twice. If he send his documents to KCC in January, hopefully his interview would be March or April, then the result would have come out. Best of luck guy.

Temmy, can a wife (who is nt d original winner) travel before d husband who is the original winner? The wife is having some health challenges, and she need to enter US as soon as possible to get better treatment, bt d husband still want to stay back and huzzle for little cash before joining the wife. is dis possible
