2 Killed As Police Escorts Shoots At Tricycle Who Tried To Overtake Them (Graphic Photos)

Two tricycle passengers was allegedly killed by police escorts attached to a VIP at Ugbolokposo in Effurun in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

The incident was said to have happened at Ugbolokposu Junction on Tuesday evening, July 12.

It was gathered that the said tricycle rider was trying to overtake a convoy when the armed escort of policemen opened fire on the occupants.

Consequently, two persons were killed while the tricycle rider sustained gunshot injuries.

One of the deceased identified as Apepe was said to be a tickets collector whIle the other identified as Charlie was a meat vendor at Effurun Market.

Angry youths and Keke riders stomed the Ebrumede Police Station on Tuesday night and threatened to set it up on fire over the death of the victims.

Comfirming the incident, spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, said that an investigation is ongoing to unravel the identity of the security officers.

The Keke rider got what he asked for. A sane man in his right senses wouldn't try such. You don't overtake a convey made up of security personnel or security personnel providing escort to a VIP. There is what is called VIP protection and anyone who tends to overtake such convow is presumed a threat and the need would be done. Over alert ni o.. better safe than sorry... I am sure the keke was forming one kind thing and maybe the police thought they were IPOB or herdsmen and in a split second made the call yo neutralize the threat and save his principal ... just trying to evaluate his thought process at the Moment ... it could happen to the best of us.

A good security would've tried to block him from overtaking the convoy with his car. Or issued a stern warning to deter him. I've seen them carry whips too.
