This thread is filled with so many unintelligent people. This shouldn't have been a banter thread.

We need insights here so others can learn. Don't bring APC + PDP + LP politics here.

I was expecting a high-level conversational threads where people list their states and mention the major projects their current Governors have embarked on, and not the unintelligent responses with emojis that filled the first page.

Nairaland has gone to the dogs. Having a decent conversation void of ethnic bigotry and unnecessary jokes are extremely hard to come by now. I'll advice you visit Quora if that's the kind of social media engagement you want.

Akwa Ibom State has been getting her leadership right back to back.

I like that Udom Emmanuel is taking steps to boost the state's economic strength and create jobs for the people.

Congratulations!

Udom Emmanuel is doing absolutely nothing to boost the economy of his states..

Is it coconut refinery and an airline for the rich that builds an economy?

The dullard should have set up a free trade and economic zone like what BAT did in Lekki..
He should have used the billions allocated to him to build his own state port instead of establishing a useless airline that services the rich people across Nigeria instead of his citizens..

Akwa ibom state budget is atleast 600bn (roughly $1.2bn least)..the 2nd Highest in Nigeria .
Why can't he use that money to build a deep sea port and establish a free Zone which wouldnt cost more than $2bn

Instead he wasted money building a 21 story sky scraper, and an airline which doesn't benefit the common Man.

The worst of it is a church in which he contracted Julius beger to build...
Akwa ibom has the money but needs a leader like Dave umahi or Lagos governors to put that money to work

Kudos to Ebonyi State governor, he deserves a third term. Thank God he won his senatorial seat. The likes of him deserve the presidency not one Chinese voice man whose achievement was investing the state fund in his father's name.

You can hate Him for being Outspoken or the sound of his voice, but one thing is sure, you can't take his works from him.

Note that budget does not mean you have the money. It's just like Cross River having a budget of over a thrillion niara few years ago.
Budget is just an expectation, not a fact.
Akwa Ibom is not among the states that have the capacity to realize her huge budget in a given financial year.
So don't use budget as a yardstick.

What's working for Lagos is the huge market that has been created in the state. Thanks to her population. Therefore, that free trade zone may not work for Akwa Ibom. Here's the catch: Before you execute a project, you do the feasibility study. He probably did it, and it wasn't viable.

I expected you to write about the seaport because all the seaports in the Delta are not operating at optimal level. Udom has set up many agro-allied industries to create jobs and boost the economy of the state. If you don't know them, google it. This is commendable.

As for the airline, uncle, I am sorry that it wasn't meant to benefit oridnary Akwa Ibom people. It's a source of revenue generation for the state. Today, the airline is acquiring planes to cover many routes across the country. This is the first state-run airline in the country. He deserves a pat on the back for that.

Lest I forget, Udom has built some of the best road infrastructure this administration can boast of. Guess what, it's tax-free, unlike the Lagos you mentioned where motorists pay tolls to use those facilities.

BTW, I want to see Akwa Ibom State government invest in human capital development and stop her people from doing menial jobs outside the state. Akwa Ibom people are too rich (based on Nigerian standard) to be suffering.

Lastly, my dear brother, a budget doesn't mean money. It means a financial plan. That financial figure is not available anywhere. Governments draft budgets every year, hoping they will use it as guidelines for meeting their annual objectives. Do you know what? That money is not available anywhere and no Nigerian state achieves 100% of its budget.

Just before you reply me, make sure you understood the points I raised here.

Re: List Projects Your Present State Governor Has Done Or Is Doing Here by AwkaFinest: 11:58am On Mar 14, 2023
SmartPolician:

Guess what, it's tax-free, unlike the Lagos you mentioned where people pay tolls to use those facilities.

According to BudgIT’s state of states report 2021, only Lagos, Rivers and Anambra can fund their budgets without much trouble.

The remaining states just call figures that are unrealistic.
