While way back in the early 80s, indigenes of imo state were regularly contributing money to build the Sam Mbakwe Airport, even though we are based in Lagos my parents were regularly sending their own share to add to those our umunna in the village were also contributing, igbos who were not from Imo state also supported the project ....self-help no start today!😂😂😂
I was in Primary 2 or 3 at that time. The state government billed all Primary school students N1 each for that airport

What the point of the airport when ikeja is less than an hour drive from ibadan.. They need to turn it to cargo airport to export goods.

Sadly, there are no importers there. Event centre will be better. The tarmac is wide enough for Owambe things

This airport should ordinarily be competing with Enugu and Kano as regional centres

This is exactly Peter Obi's policy that these backwards people have failed to understand. But this is the best way to go as free oil money continue to dwindle. The East is positioned for the future. Those hoping on the old feudal system will regret
In another stroke, OBI promised to liberalized importation, how is that reconciled with your view?

You missed it. Ibadan and Ilorin airports were constructed as alternative to Lagos, so it holds strategic place in air travels in Nigeria.
Also you must understand the direction f traffic to most of the other airports, most traffic comes from Lagos and Abuja, so for Ibadan Airport, Lagos is out because of proximity, so only traffics from Abuja fly into Ibadan, and currently there are about 4 airlines that fly from Abuja into Ibadan and mostly fully booked. The runway is shorter compared to Lagos though.

Of course. When you produce, you export and import. You don't just shut down importation and expect magic when you have produced nothing for export

Benin and Warri are not far from Lagos yet received regular flights from Lagos more than akure, ibadan and Ilorin. It's all about low disposable income

What you described is a perfect case of White elephant project. Why build what you don't need? Go and check flight data and you will know this airport is a waste of scarce resources. The average income in those 2 locations are low so a good road is what they need not airport

Ibadan airport was built in 1982. It's backup to Lagos in cases of emergencies, that is a standard worldwide

To. Abuja, and the flights are usually full. But to other destinations is not viable. Yeah very little to do with other part of Nigeria that can warrant airtravels

with dick measurement with Yorubas everytime.Wonders you are using this moniker today.I know most of your foolish monikers.
What your ancestors did till they died with envy, jealousy and hatred for themselves and others.
Yorubas will always be ahead of you in most things because they have been created and ordained achievers by the Sublimest.
Only Ibadan is more developed than the entire Igboland.
