I have checked on the Axil RC 107 but cannot as yet find any information on patching it. It probably does not have much unofficial support by way of patches --- in fact provider-supplied receivers are usually useless in terms of patches. I believe that you probably can get official software through HITV or at that locura.com - which of course is probably unnecessary anyway. BUT, more importantly, be careful because as the RC 107 seems to be designed to do both terrestrial and satellite reception its software might not be compatible with yours (assuming yours can't do terrestrial). It does not help that most info about the RC 107 is in Spanish although you can also search under its alternative model name i.e. TBoston DTT 8300.

Thanks for the useful info. I once dared the receiver when I upgraded it with a tboston 8300 software that I got from the net. It went wild and could not start up. I resuscitated it through STB to STB file transfer using rs232 cable. I got another receiver from a friend. I was very happy to see it came alive again.
Maybe with time some upgrading file may come up. Kudos to you all.

Have you read through most of the posts here?  If not, maybe you should. There are numerous mentions of how, where, who you can obtain a motorized dish from in Nigeria. There are many FTA guys here with their phone  numbers listed who can help you with buying/installing dishes. Furthermore, I think you will benefit tremendously if you read the posts so that you can help your installer during your dish installation, better still you will gain enough knowledge to correct him/her when they make a mistake.


I can't say it enough, knowledge is power. You learn by doing. The more your read the more you know.

I got my thru an installer here in ghana.He does most of his purchases in nigeria.So yes I believe u can get  the jack and the positioner in lagos but I dont know  where in particular.I think the gurus in the house should be able to help

In normal parabolic dish the microwave signal lands on the dish and is channelled towards the the feed horn as a result of the parabolic shape of the dish.

But for this flat antenna          I wonder

Does it mean that the LNB is incorporated into the flat dish?

Thanks Captainusand F_Marshall. You wont believe that I did the first installation myself, both the strong decoder at Accra and the dish at Alaba, Lagos. I got seven FTA stations, like Fox News, Nollywood, NBA, an Arab Sport Station, CNBC and 2 others. But on meeting a Nairalander he reposition the dish to its current position. Am going for another dish, but with motorised dish I wont need a second dish.

You guys are good!!! I went thro the 70% of this forum thread. Hope to learn from you guru.

The flat dish has the LNB incorporated into flat dish. I have not personally tested the dish myself as they are not yet available on this side of the ocean (USA). I did call the would be Vendors here in the USA (New York) and they said the dish will be available in the USA starting in September of 2008. Knowing that I hate the "Icy cold" windy weather of the Fall, it will be tough to test the dish from November tru April because of the cold.

Hi baba_egun,that is the kind of meter i said about.TRMAX SM-2200. Don't you think if we have some here is going to help alots.Though is very costly but installer can install up to 6 dishs a day,or even more than that,it save time and is money making. I can get it if guys want, it looks expensive now but gain is what we look out to later.

Afternoon. This is great talking to the gurus like you. You started a good thing. Goodness would follow you. I thing the sattelite I face now is pas7/10. It have MyTV promo, emmanuel tv, loveword tv and a host of other Xtian tv. I like these, but am wondering if I cud get any news tv.

Am ready to buy another 90cm dish if you could direct me on the direction to face the dish. I have strong decoder I bought from Accra, it doesnt use smart card.

Yes, you are on pas 7/10. News Channel is available on that transponder. @12562H/26657 you will get Press TV also @12722 V/26657 you'll get CNBC (all about stocks) and SABC International. well, this is a link to the available channels --hxxp://www.lyngsat.com/intel68.html if you are missing some.

the satellite name is no longer PAS7/10. It is now Intelsat 7/10
Intel bought it over from panamsat sometime ago and they are now called intelsat.

as for news channel, i think u have to go for a bigger dish. if u are looking for big time news channels.

CNN is on NSS7 c-band and BBC is on the same Intelsat 10 u are already locked to. But on the c-band frequency.

I think that, if u really need a good news channel, u have to upgrade to C-band.

All the same, if you're not already watching press Tv and SABC news international, just rescan and they might just be good enough for u.

Thanks. I know there is a provision for linking, but it is kind of primitive. As you can see the "url" you have above has the entire link displayed. I just don't want to have to edit the hyperlinks to display something like this. You should be able to copy the link from the address bar> highlight the word you want use for reference> open a hyperlink> paste info from address bar>add the post reference number, hit ok and your done.

To add to what Biggjoe just wrote. You need a 1.8meter (6ft) to 2.7meter (8ft) dish to Recieve C-band signals. You also need a C-band LNB, which is different from the current KU band LNB you are using. If you get a 1.8 or 2.4m dish you can get a Dual C-Band / KU Band LNB and your all set. Like this one here.

What is the difference between KU Band and C Band?

Ku-band permits the use of smaller antennas that are aesthetically better and much cheaper than C-band.
A typical Ku-band antenna ranges from about 50cm to 1.2m and a typical C-band antenna ranges from 1.8m, 2.4m, 3.8m etc.
Ku-band requires less radio power than C-band to provide the same signal stength thus allowing a smaller antenna.

The cost of C-band equipment and installation is much more than that of Ku-band.
C-band transmits at a lower frequency ( around 4 MHz), while Ku band transmits at about 11 to 12 GHz.

C-band dishes usually come with a larger size than Ku-band satellite antennas.

Some satellites transmit both C and KU band frequencies. E.g Intelsat 7/10, therefore for one receive channels from the two frequencies, one needs a big dish that will be able to work with the C band signal and as well work for the KU signal.
The person can then choose to either provide two lnbs for the two signals or purchase a universal lnb that can receive signals across the C band and KU band frequencies (have not used that type myself).

For people who always ask, the whole thing is like the VHF and UHF TV signals we use to deal with back in the days.
TVs back then used to have separate knobs for tuning VHF and UHF frequencies until oyibo decided that eveything should be pressed with button and that left a lot of younger folks not knowing anything about frequencies of TV channels they watch everyday.
Thats an analogy anyway.

Big Joe, I think the onus of updating the FAQs on the first post now fall on you. Like the above analysis you did concerning C-Band and KU-Band, you can add it to the FAQs, download the existing one, add the necessary ones, remove the former one and attach the new file again. The Admin could only add the FAQ I prepare to your post, instead of placing it in a more conspicuous place like a link on the Thread topic at the top of each page.
Furthermore, I will also suggest that the Thread topic should include that i.e Free to Air Satellite TV (Please read FAQs first on first post if you are new here). The Admin can assist in changing the thread title for us. By this way, newbie can become more use to what FTA means b4 joining the forum.
