The issue here is disenfranchisement. It's not about you, your opinion doesn't matter. It's about the alienation that Igbo people feel in Nigeria, whether real or imagined. You solve that, by doing the things he talked about. Making everyone feel as though they are a part of the country.

The mere fact that his words agitate you, just gives more credence to them. You should be an advocate of such things as a "Nigerian".

Just like in the 90s, when Yoruba people felt alienated, what did everyone do? They came together and propped up Obasanjo, and Igbo people voted for him in mass. For the sake of making Yoruba feel like they were a part of the country.

Now it's time for reciprocation, and what do you do? You turn around and say, "it's imagined, go solve it yourself, we're not doing anything to you".

This type of analysis is to encourage destruction and ethnicities fighting. Which region has better infrastructure that is maintained by the centre of not by itself.

If this violence is encouraged, it won't subsidized in the nearest future but increase as there will be other reasons to support violent.

These oyibos has shortsights and no political understanding of Nigeria and Nigerian.

Nigerian should support and positively criticized the system

Every region should look inward and positively grow themselves

People that propagate evil for others should be decouraged and sanctioned

Release Nnamdi Kanu, dialogue with him and other stakeholders in the region.

The process of reintegration can start.

Their should be short term and long term concerted effort towards reconnecting the region with the government.

I agree with you. Part of our IGR in Lagos can always be credited to these people's huge contribution to the economic growth of the state. I am not a trialist and I will never be one. Create a sea port in the SE and give them good roads. All the agitations and feelings of disconnect will stop. The FG will only earn much more revenues via Sea Port, should this be considered,

Even if the FG is not capable of building a sea port there, they can do a Public Private partnership thing. It is quite possible. The Lagos Deep Sea port is not owned by one entity alone, it is a partnership thing. Like I once said on this forum, the federal government knows what to do to guarantee peace and oneness but deliberately, they do not want to do it. I said this when the IG asked the Igbos to stop making people orphans and widows by killing the police in the SE. To govern Nigeria is not difficult at all, if only we can shun bigotry and tribalism. I have studied the political atmosphere of this country well as I have mingle with nearly all the tribes in the land and sought their opinions.

They are afraid of the Igbo man. If seaport is established in South East, believe me you, Lagos will quench over night.

They know this already.

Please stop this rubbish....

Igbo people dont need Federal government to build port in the east

You can do it yourself

The Lekki port was built by Lagos government and Chinese private company with Federal government having just 2% share of the port

So are you telling me the 5 Igbo states cannot build a port on their own?

You need less than 2bn dollars to build a small port and the chinese bank are ready to put the money down as long a chinese construction company will be awarded the contract

Please stop disturbing everybody with this port issue. Hold your Governors accountable

Why not? The United States developed the Marshall Plan, which saw the western part of Europe receiving loans, investments and aid to rebuild the continent after two World Wars. South Korea got funding from the United States to rebuild itself, ditto for Japan and Taiwan. Singapore, too, got investment from the US. Igbos are literally the ones who got defeated after a war and received no help in rebuilding. Everything was done by sheer hard work, perseverance and determination.

So, if the Japanese could receive economic assistance from the Americans who bombed them twice, why not Igbos?

The government needs to do more for the South East, I totally agree. They also need to embark on programs that foster national unity...

The only wrong thing he said was the seaport; there is no sea or ocean in the south east to begin with, so where do they locate it in the region since it's landlocked? Except for Lagos & the Niger delta, locating a seaport anywhere else is a complete trash idea.

What the SE needs is a good rail network and dry ports to transport cargo from and to various parts of Nigeria.

I agree with you. I don't know how the south east is going to get a port when there is no majority Igbo group abut to the Atlantic Ocean.

Anyway, the Oyibo is wasting his time. Nothing is going to change unless other Nigerians are willing to change.

Abia state is on the IMO river which is less than 20 miles from the ocean. A proper international seaport can be sighted there.

It's an impossible mission, stop giving yourselves false hopes. A seaport cannot be sited on a river, neither would commercial/cargo ships (not boats) be able to sail or berth on the river; it's too shallow; too narrow and comes at an insane cost both financially and environmentally. Don't even think about dredging the Atlantic ocean into the river. I'll just stop there...

Perhaps very soon, the FG would have to dredge the Atlantic ocean up north so they can satisfy northerners as well, since everyone wants a seaport where there is no ocean. The feasible projects haven't been done, it's the extreme ones y'all wanna focus on. Odiegwu! 🤝🏽

you are not the only tribe that needs things....

Igbos are the only ones who have been disadvantaged by a major war in Nigeria. Second would be ethnic minorities in the Niger Delta as it concerns oil spillage on their lands. Third would be Northern Christians who have been butchered left, right and centre over 50 years.

While Onne Port is standard for export, some persons say not all goods are allowed via it. I don't have enough information about it, so I cannot say. At the same time, I stated earlier that the south east cannot have a seaport. It is not geographically possible.

What does that have to do with anything? With the so-called small size, those ports are still not operating at full capacity so what is the essence of expanding them??

The reality is that Nigerian exports including from the South East are negligible. This man is saying South Eastern states are number 4 and 6 on GDP top 12 list - so you mean that all the states from number 1 - 12 should get a seaport? Sometimes you really wonder what is going through people's minds.

If it is a question of having easy access to export then you have Calabar and Onne which are perfectly usable. Use them! If Calabar needs to be dredged then get the State government to dredge it and send the FG the bill as Wike did with federal roads when he was governor! But you and I know there is nothing to export. That is a general Nigerian problem!

And if you have this idea that locating a seaport in the middle of Igboland will suddenly attract investment, you still have it wrong. It has not turned Calabar into a commercial hub, has it? The reality is that imports follow the market and by virtue of size, the market is found within the Lagos - Ibadan axis.

The issue is because the population that make up the Lagos- Ibadan axis is made up of people from all over Nigeria and that was because of how skewed the development was done. It was not like that in the 60s the trad exports from the Eastern region was high.the Eastern region had a faster development indices than any other region then.

Azumini River to the ocean is the same nautical distance as Tincan to the Ocean. So SE is not landlocked as you think.

It's not my thought that's the issue here, but the geography of the SE. Nigeria has 6 seaports: 2 in Lagos, 4 in the South-South (most of which are very close to the SE). They have a natural coastline and the seaports were sited there for those reasons.

A good rail network and dry ports are the way to go... Any other thing is just an old wife's tale.

It's not even about the south east 'getting' a seaport or not. The fact is that they don't have the natural facility (ocean) for the infrastructure they're asking for. If the SE had a coastline and the government refused to build a seaport, that would've been another case entirely.

Some politicians have brainwashed our eastern brothers into thinking they should have a seaport while neglecting other feasible projects like good rails and dry ports.

The marginalisation, disenfrenchisement and political alienation of the igbos will always bring chaos to Nigeria. You cant have peace and progress without the full integration of everyone, it is just against natural law.

Lets see if they will blame the white man, because the igbos have been saying this for years, fought a civil war because of it, but they all turned a blind eye.

Oga can you just shut up and stop all these lies. Everyone here including those in political circles know that the Igbo have been marginalised for too long even you know it, but because of hate, bigotry and bias which you exhibit you will lie.

The same people that claim Igbos are always playing victim and are not marginalised, are still the same people who will mock igbos and tell them to go back to their poto poto and neglected republic........the wickedness inherent in he hearts of some Africans is something else!

It is impossible to marginalize an ethnic nation that has a region to itself or is the majority in a region..

Igbos are not marginalized..

the way Nigeria is structured, ethnic nations that control a state can never ever be relegated, igbos control at least 5 states, the states means indigenous government officials ( Igbo officials ) will always receive funds.

If Igbos were marginalized then that means that since 1970 they have not received any allocation from the FG and they have never held any federal government political appointments, and never been governors in their own states..

You igbos are pros at emotional blackmailing other people to manipulate them to do what you want

Let us start.

Western Region had ijora power station. The Eastern region had Oji River and Afam Power Station(now Afam 1). The west had Ikeja Industrial estate, while the east had TransAmadi, Onitsha, Aba and Nnewi Industrial estates. The Eastern region had farming estates in Calabar, Ikot Ekpene, and Umuahia. The East had cement factory built in Nkalagu, long before Ewekoro was built. The ratio of doctors to the population was in the North one doctor to 1000, in the Western region 1: 300, in the east 1: 100, in education the Eastern region was ahead in enrollment numbers than the Western that was why Awolowo introduced free education in 1955. For proof of this go and read the History of Education in Nigeria by Prof Babatunde Fafunwa, he published the enrollment figures from 1940 till 1967. It was only twice that Western region had higher enrollment figures than the Eastern region in 1955 when free education was introduced and 1957
