Na coach finish us for this finals.

How did we just come out to play defensive football from beginning of the game? If we played this way, we would have been out in group stages.

You can't just defend for 90 minutes and not concede goals. Even if we were not scoring many goals in our previous matches, we were playing attacking football and keeping the other teams busy defending.

The same disgusting long ball we played in last AFCON is what resurfaced today, after we've played beautiful football this entire tournament. Just because Osimhen is good at contesting for those balls doesn't mean that should be your entire game plan.

Smh

Ekong, my brother, you try abeg.

Totally awesome captain, a defender whose attacking stats overshadowed the stats of the highly overrated gangling dude with the wannabe batman mask ( African player of the year with just one goal in the entire tournament, what a shame). Cheers to William troost Ekong. A one man squad.
The boy is dangerously overrated but most Nigerians love hero worship so they tend to disagree.

Shettima had to go because Tinubu can't withstand 90 mins of play with one pamper.
Ouattara and his wife were there full 90 mins.

Old age is not reversible. Tinubu knew that.
Is it a must that the president should go and watch the match? If he did you people will still complain that he abandoned his duties! Nigerians! I spit.

Super Eagles had a possession of 33% as against a 67% possession by Ivory Coast. Super Eagles had only one shot on target while the Ivorian Team had 7 shots. Nigeria had 1 shot off target while Ivory Coast had 6. Now tell me why Super Eagles deserved to win this competition?
What a mediocre team, bereft of that zeal to lift the Cup. The inability of our strikers and attacking midfielders to score goals earlier in this competition was a red flag. It was as if we progressed through the group stage, and indeed the knockout stages, by sheer luck.

What a beautiful waste!

Ivory Coast as a country looks more organized than Nigeria.

Their stadium is clean and orderly unlike Nigeria where mopols will be controlling d crowd with AK-47

Moffi Ihenacho or Simon should have come up early. Iwobi is too average for comfort and the main trophy...

Even Ahmed Musa would have made a difference.

Moses Simon should have started that game.

They are only 29 million people which is equivalent to Kano and Lagos state combined population.

Why shouldn't they be organized?

Abegi.

If they had 240 million people like us, they wouldn't look so cute, trust me.

By the way, Nigeria has hosted major competitions, including the FIFA Under 20 World Cup and AFCON, and we always present top-notch facilities. If you don't know, ask your elders.

You are Absolutely Right. The coach made a big mistake by starting Iwobi, Chukwueze, Lukeman and Osihmen. He over worked some players.

Well deserved, Congratulations.

In win and in defeat.

Up Nigeria

We play against Referee and Cote D'Ivoire.

Even our Coach was defense oriented which give room for more pressure from the opposition team.
Exactly my point from the onset.... using five defenders and just two midfielders... ivory coast dominated the midfield and that starve our attackers of service.... he could have changed the tactics seeing the pressure already. Nigeria lost due to wrong tactics

Yea Ekong played very well. He had our only goal in a couple of the matches in the tournament. His defending was superb, he nailed all of his penalties and he had that excellent goal-scoring header that gave us the lead for the first 60 minutes of the match. He is truly deserving of the award.

Iwobi and Aina were horrible, especially Aina. He killed several counter attacks. Chukwueze despite being a top 3 player on our squad, was irrelevant throughout the tournament, especially in the knockout stages. To be honest, you can't blame the coach, if he had changed the tactics that he had been giving us success throughout the tournament, and we lost, everyone would be blaming him of changing something that was working. But yes, his tactics were poor, and it seemed like they were relying on luck, their GK and defense to carry them through. And the midfielders failed to even utilize Osimhen, who is one of the best strikers in the world.

And that was very poor officiating in the first half of the match. The ref was clearly favoring Ivory Coast.

Please relax. His two penalties were secured by the same man you call wannabe batman. Its a team game, and everyone success lies in part with the effort of the whole team.

Well merited. To be honest, there is nothing so spectacular about this super eagles team.

Not a single thing, my brother.
I kept saying it. I don't know how Osimhen became CAF best player.
They couldn't keep the ball on the ground and play; their positioning is abysmal; passes are terrible; no individual brilliance; not a single dribbling ability; blunt attacking etc.

I can only give it to Trust Ekong and Frank Onyeka....and Nwabali.

Even if they played a different tactic and have higher stats and they lost, some people will still attack and criticise them.

How can you call a team that got to the final of AFCON mediocre losing no game all the way until the final? If luck had carried them this far, what then carried CIV?

We should learn to always be grateful and celebrate others efforts even if they falter in the end. There's a time for everything, a time to grateful and a time to look back and Thankfully many of these players are professionals and should not be too affected by all these cynical feedbacks.

The midfielders were not feeding him.He is a no 9.A striker and he wasn't getting the services.
It's a team game.
He became CAF best player because he plays in a team where good midfielders do their work.

.

Well, you aren't entirely incorrect.
The services to him were really poor.
However, a good striker will adjust his game, so as not to be totally unproductive in the game. He wasn't lethal. His 1v1s were not good 'cos he hasn't got dribbling skills.

There were also issues around his discipline and composure. I think Onyeka and Ekong did very well, roundedly.

Your analysis is really good.
However, I do not agree with you that Iwobi was better than Aina, or anyone in the team for that matter.

Secondly, nothing was wrong with the ref's officiating. Our game was uninteresting and uninspiring. That's not a kind of game that yields a win.

As for me, Osimhen is hugely overrated. We didn't deserve to even qualify for the tournament. The South African was way better too. It is indeed a game of luck all through.

For me, Ekong and Onyeka are the real gees.

Hahahaha.

Inasmuch as Iwobi was irritating on the field and made me really pissed off, one thing we must know is that some people do not deserve some opportunities but because of the influence backing them, they may have such opportunities and we can't do anything about it.

Iwobi will still feature in our next major tournament IF we qualify.

And being that his maternal uncle is Jay Jay Okocha, do you really think the favouritism/nepotism rule won't be on his side?
If the coach continues with this favouritism that means he isn't ready to work in Nigeria. Iwobi was a disaster last night and through out the tournament, Onyeka was the only player in the midfield. He overworked himself last night.

Nothing on earth will make me watch any of their matches if I see Iwobi in the starting line up......That guy is overrated and it's so annoying watching him play.
