There is something about the OLD NIGERIA.

We had peace on all fronts.

You visit your muslim friends and eat their sallah meat and Kuli Kuli. They also visit and eat your Christmas meat with Limca.

They will nickname you based on your first Hausa blunder. Somthing like "Akwai-Yaro" or something.

A time when the words "Aboki" truly meant "Friend" and Mallam - "Teacher".

Not many cars on our roads. Ladies had their natural hairs and many had ambitions to study and travel.

Those who travelled outside the shores of Nigeria, were always delighted to come back home after studies. They also sent us letters which we all read in our rooms with spring beds.

Those of them who relocated to Cameroon, Togo or Benin will bring back BonBon sweets.

I miss the old Nigeria.

Beautiful memories cheesy

Correct πŸ’―
I remember following our Muslim neighbour's children to Ile Kewu everyday. We can recite their prayers off hand effortlessly. They in turn follow us to church on Sundays and house fellowships by midweek. We observe the Ramadan and the Tafsir together. Nobody remembers what religion he or she practices. We just wanna play and hang out together. We were innocent and incorruptible. Sadly today, the story has changed. We're divided along tribal and religious lines and the innocent children are not spared from the rot. God help Nigeria.
I doubt the National Anthem we're reverting to can solve the quagmire we're in presently.

This forum consists of 10% Gen X, 60% Millennials and 30% Gen Z. There are some Generation Alphas here and there. The days you all yearn for are over. They weren’t even fun to begin with. I lived through them. I will pick today many times over, especially with the ubiquitous nature of information both fake and real.

There was a time When Lagos was still the capital that to stop congestion in the roads, only odd numbered cars were allowed on the roads on certain days and then even numbered cars were allowed on alternate days and so families that were well off bought one odd numbered car and one even numbered car.

In those days many years before the internet when Nigerian post offices were still functional, you could send a letter to a pen pal in England from Naija and they would reply with a message that would be published in a Nigerian magazine or newspaper.

And there was a time when Nigerian companies and Govt departments advertised juicy jobs with company houses in London magazines and newspapers to lure Nigerians back home to plug a shortage of skilled staff at home.
