helinues: Most of the states suppose to be merged with other neighbouring states as they are non productive. They are just drains on our commonwealth. Too much money in circulation will lead to inflation. NLC should address how the value of our currency could be strengthened with the govt |

McLizbae:No be small fantasies oh. The man has fulfilled his lifetime fantasy of answering Nigeria's President through crooked ways, he should now show some honor by peacefully vacating the office for Nigerians to elect a new leader from a new party entirely. And he must vacate with his Boko Haram vice with dangerous look. I keep wondering how people go close to Shettima with that his evil man's look. 1 Like |

How is it that Tinubu’s government doesn't know what a proper living wage should be?!! There is no way this strike couldn't have been averted if both parties had met at a middle ground with all cards laid on the table of negotiation. |

Labour comes to the negotiation table with N474k Federal government after series of negotiations comes up with with N60k, an increment of N30 despite the hardship they have inflicted on the masses resulting from the bad policies. Pls let's be sincere do you think the FG is ready to make the lives of the masses better? |

helinues:When matters like this come up, we get to know those who go out in the morning to hustle and provide for themselves compared to jobless kids who do not have an idea what it takes to provide for themselves. |
Re: Organised Labour To NASS: We’re Fighting For Living Wage, Not Starvation Wages by Angelfrost(m): 10:34am On Jun 03 |
helinues: Nah... You simply don't understand how negotiations work. If Labor had tabled 100k, FG would push for 50k (Middle ground), and this would have been a far cry from what NLC is seeking for workers under this horrible regime. Labor is being unrealistic, yes... But, FG is not being reasonable either. Asking that workers accept 50 - 60k in an economy where food items prices are off the roof makes no sense whatsoever. 2 Likes |

I wish they can get private schools to join this strike. All their children are in private schools. Banks, fuel stations, all airports. Let there be a total shut down. |

MT: NLC is simply dragging based on the excesses of the government. After one year in office, in what ways have the government made effort to drastically cut down on expenditures?!! How much are those in top positions taking home as salaries and allowances?!! How much is being used to subsidise Religious pilgrimage?!! How much was spent on white elephant projects?!! If you claim the nation is broke, where are the billions being used to fund the lifestyles of government officials coming from?!! Where are the funds for medical tourism coming from?!! |

helinues: When it's time to bleed the populace, they start comparing with other countries... Nigerians buy fuel cheaper than Americans, Nigeria's VAT is the lowest. Now it's time to pay wages, they're being inconsiderate. Minimum wage for an American working 8 hours a day is about N87,000 per DAY!. If you do that for 22 days in a .month, it is about N1.9m.. Now, how do you see that? 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Organised Labour To NASS: We’re Fighting For Living Wage, Not Starvation Wages by Maximiliannnn: 10:41am On Jun 03 |
helinues: Sometimes you sound reasonable sometimes you sound unreasonable. Govt should go ahead since and announced the minimum wage without waiting for labor to pounce on them . Remove party affiliation on this matter, this government is insulting nig citizens. How can you remove fuel subsidy, electricity subsidy, fertilizer subsidy and put 100b in subsidizing Hajj. What's benefits of Hajj to Nigeria. Your type with this kind of mentality is the problem we have in this country. You cannot be giving 100% of your support to leadders even when they are hacking you to death |

what is not realistic here? How much does it take to afford the basics of life in today's Nigeria? If you have a wife and two kids, how much would you need to survive as a civil servant? Government officials are still living wastefully with 15B each budgeted for the renovation of homes of the Presiden, VP and Chief of Staff among other criminalities. helinues: |

We're back to 1981 full cycle. I can't believe that the nlc 1981 strike action lasted for 2 days making it the shortest in history and here We're today in full cycle. Like Nigeria is averse to frameworks that largely support healthy societies....what's wrong with us? |

helinues: I just had to respond to this input. Stop and think for a moment. Can the NASS members survive on 100k minimum wage? After using their cluelessness to heap hardship on the very Nigerians they were meant to represent. Stop making excuses for these politicians! What are they really doing to justify their own jumbo pay while the country is a total mess ![]() |
Re: Organised Labour To NASS: We’re Fighting For Living Wage, Not Starvation Wages by realG101(m): 10:43am On Jun 03 |
Ballotelle: Let's be realistic in choosing our battles man. The govt is not likely to have an immediate solution to reduce corruption as it is the way of life in nigeria for now. It is also unrealistic to think this govt at this time will go back on removal of fuel subsidy. What is more realistic is to ask for a living wage that can help us cope in the current economic realities. Remember the political class also have their fat salaries. Why don't you see anything wrong in that. What is good for the goose is good for the Ganda. Until the country comes to its senses and decides to reduce the jumbo salaries of the political class too, our demands on this occasion are in order. |
Re: Organised Labour To NASS: We’re Fighting For Living Wage, Not Starvation Wages by Angelfrost(m): 10:44am On Jun 03 |
helinues: Okay... Thanks for the insight. Labor is clearly aiming for the skies. They are being ambitious. Personally, 80K to 100K would and should do just fine. Asking for more than 100k means Labor clearly wants to damage the fragile economy irrevocably. |
