Do you know how much will feed a cow for 2 years in a ranch ??

Compare it to a nomadic free grazing cow ??
Do u know how much trillions of farmers crops cows destroy in the name of grazing?

We can't continue to subsidize that sector with peasant farmers crops.

So many investors don close shop for this country, if the herders think ranching will be more expensive to them, they should close shop.

Like u said earlier, we will look for alternatives...

There is enough land in Nigeria to farm and graze. All that is needed is structuring.

Potential Impact on Beef Prices
Implementing large-scale ranching could significantly increase the cost of beef due to the high expenses associated with establishing and maintaining ranches. These would make Nigerian cows too expensive for purchase as cows from Niger and other neighboring countries practicing open grazing will be cheaper in the open market.

Suggested Practical Solutions
Designated Grazing Areas: Allocate specific areas for grazing to prevent clashes while allowing pastoralists to continue traditional herding methods.
Conflict Resolution Mechanisms: Establish local committees to mediate disputes between farmers and herders, promoting peaceful coexistence.
Cooperative Farming: Encourage farmers and herders to form cooperatives, sharing resources and knowledge to improve productivity and harmony.
Community-Based Animal Health Services: Provide mobile veterinary services to support herders, reducing the need for long migrations and potential conflicts.
These solutions aim to be cost-effective and fair to both cattle herders and farmers, ensuring sustainable practices and reducing conflicts.

Price of beef has never been low. If this will stem the wantom destruction of lives by the herdsmen, your beef can wait please.

If these senators have been deliberating on bills like this I don't think nigerians will be angry with them. Fulaniherdsmen have absolutely no reason to continue with their outdated method of breeding cattle in this 21st century if they don't have any hidden agenda they ought to modernise their business like their counterparts in other civilised countries.

Better for the cows to be expensive than for nigerians to be dieing in their thousands own land because of ordinary animals.

Will you allocate shops for people to sale alcohol in the northern part of the country?
Will you provide land for farmers up north?
Will you provide resources and enablement for fishermen to go up north for their business?

What makes cows special business in Nigeria? Isn't it a personal business?
Many people don't eat beef and you must not force it on them .

The worst is your preference that people be killed to allow fulanis carry cows about.
I'm not surprised though.
You forgot Pig-farming!
These people will not even tolerate you farming your pigs, or sales of alcohol in their enclaves even when done without trespass in your closet; yet want to force their dirty, blood-sucking Cow on our road and farms. Moreso, most of these nomad are non-Nigeria.

Former Governor Ganduje once said there's enough forest space for cows in Kano. He was willing to provide water sources, accommodation, schools, hospitals and veterinary services for the herders. They were not willing to accept that option which shows that they probably have a different mission.

We all know that ranches or free grazing cows within a limited area is more nutritious and yields more beef and more milk.

Lol, Ganduje is a politician...believe him at your risk.
Reason why cattle herders move southwards is because grass doesn't grow in the north during dry season
Ganduje was just looking for a way to milk the government treasury. If you had financed him to set up a ranch he will have pocketed billions of dollars.

Grazing farmers crops at zero cost?

If they can't ranch, they close business.

The Fulani herdsmen have money, they are amongst the wealthiest people in this country but I wonder why they are so wicked and stingy to themselves ? Why do they want free access to other people's lands instead of doing the sane thing done worldwide which is buying or leasing of lands ? Very wicked people who just love crisis every time. Tufiakwa

Why do they always override the southern senators as though they are their slaves.

The North's only strategy is to fume over matters and as usual the weaklings from the south will surrender .

Gradually God is exposing those sponsoring fulani herders killers.

I have always tak about that Aliero of a man he was among those who want to force RUGA on us, this ame Aliero stood against death penalty on any herders who kill anyone, same Aliero has always support fulani herds and has vehemently refused to support any move to curb fulani herders massacre.

These are the problems in the way of ranching that nobody is willing to talk about. This is why government has to step into this "private business", which has become a national security issue.

Yes, open grazing has to go since it has become a vehicle for crime. But government has to put on its thinking cap if a solution is to be found.

No be to make law restricting grazing

Abi make the senator go face AK-47 carrying fulanis tell them to go back to their ranch or state of origin.

Your leaders dey oppress you, you are raisng dust about fulani herdsmen.

Start with your emperor governors first

The highlighted is the criminality I'm talking about. How can you come all the way from Futa jalon to another man's State/village and collect designated grazing area or will you do same if I want to rear pigs in your country ? Buy or lease land instead of blackmailing Nigerians

The same way you come from the southeast and open a pharmacy or spare parts shop in Kaduna/kano/katsina and ply your trade and take the profits back to east safely.
Thats the same way the fulani man also plies his only trade all across Nigeria, to feed and raise his family.

No,the way out is that government should help pastoralist to stay in their state of origin and help them reclaim their lands from desert or by assisting the south or middle belt locals to start massive cattle rearing.

Ignorance 101. The spare part dealer owns his shop. The cattle owner should buy land or get it at lease.
