Ours is perfectly avoidable. That's why he should work and stop sounding like the problems cannot be solved. When they get power, that when they begin to realize why problems cant, and shouldnt be expected to, be fixed.

More Shege promax still loading everywhere. When adjusted for headline inflation, food inflation, fuel price increase and foreign exchange movement, the current wage level has lost its value and would need to be tripled to restore the purchasing power of the working class.

An average worker, whether they are on public or private sector payrolls, the analysis suggests, will need an almost 200 per cent pay raise to maintain the 2019 utility level, otherwise, they will slip further below the poverty index.

The government ought to have declared a state of emergency on the economy, healthcare sector especially on drugs/emergency medicines, but trust they won't because the drugs concerned are not recreational drugs that these wicked politicians consume( cocaine, heroin, marijuana, angel dust etc). This country really needs a resetting.

The politicians find it hard to sacrifice their ostentatious and expensive political lives but are always asking the poor downtrodden, distraughted and despairing citizens to brace up for more hardship. Imagine NASS members buying exotic SUVs for themselves telling people of bracing for more impact.

Many of you fail to understand how the economy work. Increasing the minimum wage right now will mean increasing the prices of commodities, Tinubu and his economic team are clueless, watch and see how prices will shoot up next year as a result of increase in wages alone.

Increase in wage is impossible, but the government must bring price stability tools and work on the economy, bring policies that will aid production and investment, without this, the increase in wage will cause more inflation.

What more do you expect from a clueless government with no clear plan or agenda? Playing the blame game all the time, you should be busy fashioning out good economical policies that will improve trade not this useless defensive excuse you're making here. If you can't improve the livelihood of an average Nigerian, pls resign and go. We don't want leaders with excuses.

The phenomena is worthy of study. The nearest to truth on what is going on in Nigeria in terms of the meaning of poverty is yet untold.

I feel you, it's surprising at the way people build & purchase cars in the cities. However, I still tie it down to corruption, a business man will think twice before buying a N200m+ worth of car. A salary earner of any type buying N150m+ worth of car might be involved in corrupt practices. Corruption fueled our economy

You are really ignorant of economics, let me give you a little example.

Can you comfortably stay in an environment dominated by Yahoo boys? Yes, you might not be a Yahoo boys, buy you will buy commodities at the same price with them, else the market people will tell you that "someone will but it at that price".

Who told told you that there is "price discrimination" in the Nigeria market. When minimum wage goes up, price increase affects everyone irrespective of your occupation. I see you must be a civil servant, ask those in the market what will happen to price if wages go up.

In 2019, when the wages was increased to 30,000 the first commodity that went up in price was coca cola, mind you, there was no increase in price by the company.

Why do you think prices of commodities go up during election campaign all over the country, it is assumed that there is more and free money to go round.

The typical Nigerians market man and woman believe that when wages is being increased, then he should also earn more, he increases price not minding who is buying.

More reowned economists and financial experts have warned against increasing the wages without first working on the economy, and if the economy is worked on,then only a moderate minimum wage should be paid, as not to increase too mu money in circulation.

Most of you civil servants and 9-5 workers think we don't want increase in wage, why not, since the inflation will only benefit business men.

I am talking to you as an economist and a business man, if wages go up in this period of almost hyperinflation, then next year will be survival of the fittest in Nigeria.

You are partly right. The major economic problem we have currently in Nigeria is hyper inflation occasioned by the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of the naira.
Today, Nigerians have to spend more money on things they spent less money to purchase yesterday. So the poverty is relative and not general. However, there is still a large
percentage of citizens who are destitutes.

There is distribution of wealth in Nigeria as I have observed myself. A whole lot of People are making money big time just that they won't admit it.

The FG are crafty, they know that the minimum wage increase will cause more inflationary pressure, but who will hold them responsible if that happens? They have done what the people want.

The minimum wage have been agreed on, let's watch the economy starting from when it was implemented.

Anyone close to our president should please advise him on the need to open our land border for food importation, with the low cost of food, Nigerians may not be feeling too much the type of of economic plight we're into.

Someone should please help and reach the president.

I left..!

No sir ... that is not the solution.

The pitiable state of our Naira vis-a-vis the currencies of neighbouring countries (Benin, Niger, Chad, Cameroon etc) is the problem.

Food smuggling out of Nigeria is now big business. It pays the farmers more to sell to neighbouring countries because of the exchange rate differentials

The problem with Yoruba people is enemies and they always compare

When a Yoruba child does something and you ask

You:Femi why did you break this chair?

Femi: I broke this chair when I was playing because Farouk climbed it and Nkechi touched it then I jumped on it ,that was why it broke !

They will never own up responsibility and will want to compare and rope others in ! That's Yoruba for you and that's why this old man is trying to bring other nations to exonerated his incompetency! It's Yoruba logic we see it here in nairaland everytime

During Biafra war Awolowo was asked

Journalist: What is the position of the south west as it relates to the political situation in the country

Awolowo: our position is simple ,if Nigeria will allow the Biafrans to go we will declare our own nation !

He left the questions and focused on Biafra and yet Biafra left...did they declare their own nation ?

That's them so we aren't surprised

The statements look terribly insincere.

What actual plans are in place and plan to surmount the challenge?

Do the elected and appointed leadership suffer similar pain where enormous amounts are expended to buy vehicles that will not remain government property to be used by the next elected staff or appointees?

Why is there gross lack of tact in implementing necessary policies in manners that will cause lower pains?

Indeed the independence of all African countries is a ruse as we remain economically enslaved to the former colonial masters and their unfavourable policies.

Why should a foreign owned company who's owners were also previously colonised economically enslaved Nigerians as is the case with the Sona Group and be publicized as a benefactor of the Bank of Industry?

Only the truth and commitment with efforts to do things better can get us any where.

Both the leaders and the led are terribly too dishonest
