But this beauty keep insisting that she can't diss her country or continent, everything happening in Nigeria, is happening every were around the world, be it corruption, police brutality, political crisis, hunger etc. SUCH A SMART WOMEN, I HOPE THE GOVERNMENT GIVE HER A NATIONAL HONOR SOME DAY (If she doesn't have one yet ) 2 Likes |

" “They wanted what I had but for their benefit. It was all about their story. It was all about how, even if it was our story, I could make it more authentic to their understanding of whatever Africa is because they did have a lot of literature in their archives.” How can people read this and not understand what she's saying here? How can you read this part and still type rubbish? Abeg if you don't understand what she's saying here then you be foolish olodo who would never know their left from their right. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Lol,this one think she can act or even matter outside of Nigerian Nollywood industry hahahahahaha, when they become "tin gods and goddess" in the Nigerian entertainment industry, they begin to underrate the industry and start putting all their faith in the outside industry, but all will learn the hard way, Hollywood or whatever is outside will never give them the admiration or reverence that they enjoy here in Nigeria but they seem to learn too late, Arya starr, tems,,rema and co will find out the hard way. |

Who really is interested in Hollywood these days? A place founded & controlled by Jews , and other white supremacists, for the sole purpose of brainwashing ppl, just like their LGTTV agenda ( Abi how dem dey spell am?). I've taken my mind off Hollywood o. It's purely mind control garbage now. They wanted what I had but for their benefit. It was all about their story You see what I said. Hollywood is just an agenda to rewrite black ppls stories , as suited for the white supremacists. It's an ungodly place. Check how many black male artists have been forced to wear dresses , as part of an ( unknown?) humiliation ritual: - Tyler Perry ( unfortunately he's gay in real life; acts as a woman) -Kevin Hart - shank - Jamie fox - Even the great Blade Wesley Snipes and many more. 1 Like |

We4all:Stephanie's accent was as fake as it gets. The only thing that turned me off her back in the days. I have a feeling it improved subsequently though. Genevieve was always way better with her natural accent and diction wise IMO. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I am compared to think, with a lot of evidence, that big institutions in the US does not discriminate if you are good: Nigerians have gained admissions to prestigious universities like Harvard, Stanford, john Hopkins without difficulties, Chiwetel Ejiofor is a known Hollywood star and has more than 40 films to his credit, yet, his name alone tells you this is a son of the soil, though born and bred in UK, Stanly Macebuh once taught at the prestigious Berkely Uni before coming to head the Guardian newspapers those days, RMD is big fish, but chiwetel is a shark, remember 12 slaves that was nominated for a grammy? Genny should not cast aspersions on the mecca of films making. No movie enthusiasts will share her view, not even in Nigeria. |

Dogalmighty17: Many if not most success stories in Hollywood are the result of human trafficking and all kinds of abuses. And even with those that aren't, what does that success mean if just an individual benefits, and if that individual spends a lot of their career putting out racist material? You can go to Nollywood and build something, and do work you can be proud of, or you can go collect scraps from Hollywood and hope your career lasts. Also, in this era, filmmaking and distribution are dirt cheap, and the value of Hollywood is fading. Hollywood is still relevant mainly because of its resources. Its projects are flopping left and right. If more were invested in building industries in certain markets, it would be game over. 1 Like |

Dogalmighty17: I disagree.... but it's your opinion. What is the basis of your opinion? Let me give you mine. Hollywood makes movies primarily for American viewers. Hollywood is also about profits and actors who can attract viewers are the ones given more prominent roles and eventually lead roles. Denzel Washington is given lead roles because he draws viewers. Can Genevieve draw viewers in the US? That was already proven. Do you know there was a period when Nollywood was very big in the US? .... DVDs sold like hit cakes? Genevieve was the top drawing card. She was rated .... by viewers as a very good actress. It is the reason Oprah wanted to feature her on her show but Genevieve turned her down. Who turns down Oprah? That alone would've been a free pass to Hollywood. It is not by luck Netflix signed Genevieve. So was Patience. When they left the scene Nollywood died in the US. If she wanted to be part of Nollywood she would have. I'm glad she did not ... For the very reason she stated ... for us to tell our stories... why can't we? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: Why I Refused To Join Hollywood – Genevieve Nnaji by Originalsly: 1:40am On Jun 20 |
We4all: Judging from US viewers .... Genevieve was bigger than both Stephanie and Rita combined. In fact .... Stephanie was not at all a drawing card... an unknown. One of the turn offs was fake accents. Their accent may sound good to you .... but not to locals in the US. Genevieve was not considered to be one of them ... so was Patience .... Maureen Solomon .... Mercy Johnson ... Sylvannus .... Omotola ... and quite a few others. Stephanie Okere was a nothing. Funke was not popular too .... but not as unpopular as Stephanie.Thick accent was Mr Ibu .... he was not popular... mainly because of his thick accent |
