Government don't need to buy meter and for anybody and nobody should buy meter, transformers or electric pole for themselves either. If completely privatize these companies without corruption, then the company should live up to there responsibility. Afterall, all these equipment remains their property.

Here in Aba, if you use your own money to get the prepaid meter, you get a refund which comes in installments via energy token.

How can one buy meter yourself?

Do not let us deceive ourselves, those that have been given that their fake bills with the accumulation of a lot money must clear their debt before they can be given the prepaid meter but those that just wanted to register for the first time may not pay any money but I did not trust the PHCN guys. If you don't want to give them the money your meter will be delayed.

Besides, metering is to curb estimated billing, it's not something the DISCOs actually like.

If it was truly privatized,communities won't be the one fixing transformers. Buying poles etc. they should be the one doing that.
