What do you guys do with US visit visa?
Travel to the US. It is the visa type with least qualifying requirements and a lot of people genuinely use it for the intended purposes and return to Nigeria.
How easy or difficult it is to transition from visit Visa to other long stay pathways?
Abuse of the visit visa by predetermined intention to adjust status.
Marriage. Asylum. Education

People use it to visit and come back to Nigeria. Gone are the days of escaping with visitors visa. It has become a very long and tortuous road.

I don’t comment very often but I came across your responses to this subject. You stated that β€œwe learn everyday”.., I can tell you for a fact that Nigerians with Canadian PR get 10yr b1/b2 visa when they apply. Everyone I have given an invite to US with a Canadian PR received 10yr visa. We all learn everyday and I do recognise your active input on this platform. Thank you

(PS- Just for context and not brag. I’m Nigerian/British/American citizen and a Canadian PR holder)

You have started with your gang ups. Where is the weird post ? Are you working inside the US embassy in Canada ?

The original poster cannot go further so the need to hire mercenary in order to cover lie all in the name to accuse OyotunjiUSA 😊

Where is the tie to Canada ? She landed just 2 months ago ? And you are in Canada yourself?

PR can be revoked . Citizenship by other means aside of birth can be revoked.

Nigerians in Canada applying for B1-B2 for the first time inside Nigerian passport gets 5 years visa. Bye.

I had a visa interview scheduled for 2nd August , now postponed to 6th August probably because of protest. Initially submitted IW in January but passport returned to book interview.

I have an official trip booked for 13th August. Assuming the visa is approved on the 6th August, is there any chance I can retrieve my passport before that date? ( Just one week apart)

Hey 🀠

@Segun889

1. My believe is that a first timer receives 5 year B1-B2 while subsequent can be 10 years especially because of the VISA reciprocal agreement between the USA and Nigeria.

2. All the same, i accept your input as a genuine correction. Correction in a formal way like yours is different from attacking .

Thank u sir.

Good afternoon House, Please i have an inquiry. I currently hold a us visa and will like to apply for my infant who is 1 year old. i clicked on schedule appointment as she qualifies for an interview waiver but the questions for inteview waiver are that of renewal,

am i supposed to fill all of them as if we want to do a renewal because infants meet the qualifications for interview waiver but the questions are like is your visa expiring within 3 months or within the past 48 months etc and this is my child's first passport and application.

do i just go ahead and fill everything like im doing a renewal? if i go the normal route id have to schedule for Nov 2025 for an interview which i believe is not needed for an infant especially as i have a valid US Visa as well.

Please advise

Hey 🀠

1. Your infant is qualified for a natural interview waiver because she cannot really answer a consular as a minor, but she is not qualify for IW visa renewal because she has not been given any USA VISA before.

2. Remove her as a dependent in your cgi portal . Fill your own DS-160 and after submission do not exit the page and continue to add dependent (your daugher) information. This will merge your daughter's information inside your DS-160.

3. After the above, fill another DS-160 only for your infant (just exactly the way you fill it for yourself) and submit. Then go to GTB and pay her MRV physically (do not pay via mobile app).

4. You will then apply as if you are renewing and upon submission you will have to submit , Your passport , her passport , birth certificate , Hospital bill/attestation of his birth , your DS-160 confirmation and her DS-160 confirmation together with her mrv receipt .

PS: This situation is tricky. You may likely be summon to appear physically with her.

Hey 🀠

1. No ! It is stipulated on the ulstratraveldoc webpage that once you submitted Passport for renewal that passport cannot be retrieved until final decision.

Hey 🀠

1. Beginning from last year (2023), you can now look for job while in the USA with B1-B2 VISA.

2. Please read me well. You cannot work with B1-B2 VISA but you can look or search for job within the stipulated period given to you at the port of entry , and once you are able to process the final transition paper work to H1-B or other work related visas then you are good to stay and work.

3. The scenario above is not compulsory to be done as a straight away procedure. It depends on the stipulated time given to you at the entry port. If your work paper cannot be finalised at ago, you can return to Nigeria and go back when necessary.

It is interview post IW.

Decision will be made that day. I am only saying that if the visa is approved after the interview on 6th August, is it possible for them to issue the visa and retrieve the passport within a week.

I just want to know the average time it takes people who recently succeeded with interview to get their passport back.

My flight is 6pm so even if the visa/ passport is ready on the 13th,I can still collect it in the morning and travel same day

Thanks for the feedback,

I already have my own US visa since last year, i already filled her DS160 as an individual and paid for the visa fee.

Do i still submit my passport with hers after clicking all the necessary details for IW.

1. Yes. Fill another DS-160 for yourself and fill for her too (follow my previous instructions). I understand you have gotten your own VISA but you have to submit your passport alongside hers for physical comparison.

2. They will only work on her visa. Your passport is just for biological mother verification. You can write an explanatory letter along your application.

PS; Call CGI too.

Do not take the risk. Some get theirs in less than a week. Others 5 weeks. So circumstance differs. The best is to reschedule your appointment.

That will be Interview waiver.

Unless you are under administrative processing, they can't keep your passport after interview for 5 weeks.

My last visa, I actually got it in three days after interview. I just don't know the current estimate but five weeks is not possible.

So how will you know if you will be placed under admin processing? That's the point! Anything can happen so best not to risk it since she has an important trip

Hey 🀠

1. Yes, you are right. IW maximum processing time according to the USA embassy is 8 - weeks. If your interview is physical (not IW) and successful, then expect your VISA to be available for pick up at a maximum time of 1-week.

PS: @Esansamuel967 same applies to you. If you did not receive 221g slip after a successful interview, then nothing can extend your visa pick up duration beyond 1-week.

Hello everyone ,
I applied for US F1 visa ( MBA)and got interview appointment for October but was able to get an earlier date later which is August 21 , I had to defer admission to January 2025 due to resumption date , I have been able to update my D-160 and got a new confirmation with a new serial number ,but the β€œfamily details” (dependents) is unclickable for me to edit theirs so as to get updated details like mine.
Please am I supposed to leave their details like that or they need to be updated too like mine , if yes how do I do that please ?

Hey 🀠

1. You have between now and August 15 to be able to access the appointment booking website.

2. From August 16 to August 26, 2024, You won't be able to do anything on the appointment booking site.

3. If you are traveling after September, 2024 , I would rather you waited till August, 27, 2024 before you start your visa application process.

Hey 🀠

1. 221-G should come with verbal or paper explanation. Did the consular officer not hand you an accompanying slip ? Or check the back of your travel passport if there is any slip attached . Or call the helpline.

2. You may as well login to your cgi account and search upper left side and click on " continue " . This should bring out new available dates (if you have missed approval email).

Hey 🀠

1. I have not only heard but i have seen lot of such scenarios over the years from friends and few relatives.

2. However, it's not a piece of cake as it was because many have used the gimmicks to commit VISA/immigration frauds, thereby, leading to lot of scrutiny and visa denials nowadays.

3. I will recommend you allow your partner to come visiting , spend some time together in Nigeria and return. He or she can visit you twice before you return your own visit. Keep relationship photos , and other evidences of time spent together for application references. Plan to tie the knot in the USA rather than in Nigeria.

PS: Google the following terms : K-1 VISA
CR-1. This is a Conditional resident, and IR - Immediate Relative.

Good morning brother. If for any reason you cannot make it for your travels (F1 visa) after getting a visa, I learnt that you can now transfer your SEVIS fee payment to a new SEVIS ID if you get admission in another school? If so, what’s the time validity since the period you paid the SEVIS fee and the period that you will no longer be able to transfer this SEVIS fee payment? Is it also a year period?

How difficult is it going to be getting a new visa even when you meet all visa requirements? Cuz the officer will think you’re not serious by not travelling initially

Hey 🀠

1. Yes it is possible.

2. When you are already inside USA, you do not need to apply for another VISA again because the reason you actually needed a VISA is for you to enter, but you are inside already. Hence, almost 90% of USA VISA types allows for change of status.

3. However, you must not change your activity (from the original intent) inside USA until USCIS approved your change of status (to the new one).

4. For example, if you are currently inside USA on a B1-B2 visit, you must not begin attending school as a student (F-1) until you have received authorization from USCIS to change your status.

5. You will have to exit the USA In order to go and apply for any other USA VISA type that does not allow you to change your status inside USA ( because you cannot apply for USA VISA inside USA).
