That check was given to the university as we can see. It covers the beneficiaries in that school.

I saw individuals getting checks too

Good luck to anyone f.ooolish enough to take this loan..

You might end up living your entire adult life doing community service to pay back this loan.

May God help us all and protect our kids and loved ones from the modern day slavery mechanism (TRAP) CALLED EDUCATION LOAN

Nigerians with negative directions of observation. For me I see it as an opportunity to be employed after graduation. Go and mark it, since I know government, any program introduced end up as job Creation.

For government to get the money back, the graduates must be working, it's simple, Thier will be jobs and programs to accommodate them for government to collect back Thier money except those that wish to work in private sector. Otherwise, it will be a bad debt.

I think it's better to disburse the loan through commercial banks otherwise these people will share it amongst themselves using fictitious names undecided

Fake Names no be my problem as they will check well, but what happens to the Loan when the students failed, dropout and rusticated or couldn't complete the study for whatever reason.

with this system, I don't think the loans will be repaid, rather it will be looted.

they could have create a system where the students can apply for the loan and when approved, they credit the wallet on the portal that can only be used to pay school fees in the school's official portal.

When you see Bul@ba you’re seeing a former heroin trafficker, fake democrat, incompetent and highly corrupt politician, then you remember Funsho Williams.

ByTheWay how will these people pay back these loans? Priority should be given to people in STEM so as to discourage people from using it to study useless courses

A system should also be created to forgive these loans after 10 years of repayment in addition to working in the education or non-profit sector

Also, why are people being given checks directly? These funds should be sent directly to the University to cover tuition and other expenses, and the remainder (if any) can be transferred to the recipient’s bank accounts to cover personal expenses

Is that a cheque you can cash over the counter...

As the country is Now, be frank with all truthfulness, is their any hope that any of these people who will graduate will get a job to pay back?

Instead of me to ever allow my kids to take this loan, I will cry and plead with that my kid to go and learn mechanic or shoe making, you know Nigeria is a scam under tinubu.

Remember, I told You to be frank and honest.

To be frank, you'd have to be frank with yourself and admit that it's a STUPID idea for you to send your children to learn handiwork instead of university education, simply because you couldn't afford it and you won't allow your children get access to money that belongs to everyone, including you and I.

It's the most foolish thing a father could do to a child. Mind you, a smart child who truly wants university education would apply without your permission, finish his/her studies and pay back... There's nothing bad in it.

I can see how your entitlement mentality is getting the best part of you.

If my point doesn’t count why are you responding to it? Are you that jobless?

Access to student loans is a privilege and if you meet the requirements, you’ll get access. Not everyone will.

And since you don’t know whether they have enough money for everyone or not, why are you arguing with me? Nigeria is a poor country. If funds are limited which is likely the case, and which is the basis of my post, then it should be prioritized based on certain criteria

Governments and individuals all over the world give incentives and scholarships to STEM based courses so yes it could be a requirement based on availability of funds

If funds are unlimited then yes it should be available to everyone.

You clearly don't even know what you're taking about, just running around in circles...

The student loan is the right of every Nigerian student. At this modern age, the course or field of study doesn't determine anyone's ability to pay back on time. There are Arts majors who are coding and doing graphic design, while there are mech engineering students who have no career survival skills.

You just keep showing you have a parochial mentality.

This is a good step forward.

The current govt still has a lot of ground to cover to win back the trust of the public.

On this, I say Congratulations to Nigeria Students. I never knew that in my lifetime I would witness Nigeria giving Nigerian students loan to school as obtainable in the western world.
I tell you bro. I wish it was launched wayback when i was in Uni. Lucky students

This cannot quell the protest we are doing in Abia. Otti the betrayer must pay living wage to the workers and not the 15k he is paying.

If Tulumbuuu like he should give student 1trillion, it won't stop us from demolishing Abia government house for betraying Abia workers.
If you do the crime be also ready to do the time.

Foolish people repeat the same false statements they’re corrected.

So let’s start from the statement you just repeated. What makes the student loan the right of every single Nigerian student?

Even in advanced countries with more money, student loans are available to students who meet the criteria specified because funds are limited.

So tell me, what makes student loans the right of every student?

After answering the question, then tell me where I mentioned that non STEM based education should not be given loans. Explain what you understand by priority based loan financing

Better don’t respond if you’re not prepared to answer these questions. That’s a rule of engagement.

The checks are just for photo op . I’m sure the funds are deposited to bank accounts

This is why I first said be frank and honest, how will he pay back?

With my new realization, university education is a scam in Nigeria, if I can't afford my kid a university education abroad and he will have to practise abroad too.
Almost everything you get in the University, I said almost not everything can be gotten in the comfort of your home, I am an electrical engineering graduate from University of Nigeria Nsukka, but Most of my Job lines everywhere from finance, electrical instrumentation, repairs, optimisation, accounting, marketing and sales, digital marketing and software programming, no one taught me that in UNN, Anyaka was busy quoting his Poland notes from 1950s in 2011.
So imagine I borrow from tinubu the Shylock to gain all those obsolete knowledge, and no job,

HOW WILL I PAY BACK?
