Why are these folks crying? As a businessman, it is not Dangote’s responsibility to solve the energy crisis in Nigeria. The country is simply not ready to develop at pace, sad but true so move on Mr Dangote.
Import your crude from Angola and sell all over the west African sub continent. I’m sure he saw this coming, eventually maybe in 100 years, Nigeria will wake up.

I’m sure ote$ was the one mocking Dangote, dudes a treacherous businessman and barely lives in Nigeria anyways.

This is exactly what I'm saying. The situation reveals a lot about Nigerians. We are so envious yet when we are given the opportunity and resources we can barely take actions

I think the problem is sharing formula. The cabal may want a sharing formula importation 60% dangote to supply 40%.. I want to believe this the crux of the matter.

Shey he wants to be unfortunate in his life ni?

The he last time his name was the number one in the list of those inflating fuel subsidies, he went and set up the idiot probing him, and the probe was trashed. Such a thief shouldn’t be talking in the midst of humans, he should be confined to the wilderness to be with wild animals whom he is one of.

All of a sudden some people took sample of his product to China because they saw how it was moving fast and produce it cheaply and mass import it. That was the end of the business. He had to sell all the machine as scrap , bought keke and start riding till today.

Honestly speaking, there are a lot of children in this forum.

Imagine some people still talking about Dangote being a monopolist.

Man built a refinery which he wasn't supposed to build if the PH refinery had been sold to him but the incompetent and corrupt mofos on NNPC refused to sell. Year in year out, funds are budgeted to revamp our 3 refineries to no avail and an individual summonsed courage, built Africa's biggest refinery but as usual, very selfish and useless bastards who call themselves leaders of Nigeria are colluding to circumvent the whole process from working to the detriment of Nigerians.

I weep everyday for this country....😢😢😢

Imagine Tinubu's kinsmen are so afraid of him that they lack the guts to tell him the truth directly.

Adesina is scared to advice Tinubu directly so he hides behind Otedola.

Otedola is scared of telling Tinubu that he is messing up so he hides behind Adesina, wereh people cheesy

Professor Gbajue Soyinka is scared of telling Bola Tinubu that he is messing up so he decided to keep quiet and rather said he would speak later, maybe from the yonder cheesy

But look at Peter Obi their Father's father, he no send their Papa, he told Tinubu directly to assist Dangote Refinery, no mixing words or twisting it.

This Dangote refinery betrayal is much about how industrialized Europe and America want Africa to remain dependent upon the industrialised countries.
The IMF with its currency deregulation prescription maligned the Naira. Spare parts are expensive to buy by any Nigerian. Cost of foreign labour and technology is soaring in Nigeria. The industrialised Western countries love this.

Dangote is a scam, Nigeria govt are corrupt

When Dangote started building his refineries I was telling people that are rejoicing that you're jubilating to capitalism

Dangote hope he will monopolize the highest revenue of Nigeria and the govt will just lookaway?

People are just blaming govt without looking or listening to their own side

Imagining him accusing nnpcl official of having refine in Malta, that's how he almost ruined indomie when he started his mediocre indomie production

Akinwunmi Adesina,

Your passionate defense of Dangote’s monopolistic tendencies is misplaced and ultimately detrimental to Nigeria's long-term economic health. Let’s be clear: the open free market should determine winners and losers, not subjugation or forced patronage.

Monopoly and Market Distortion

You argue that monopoly exists due to high barriers to entry or high capital costs. While this may hold some truth, it does not justify the creation or maintenance of monopolies, especially not through governmental favoritism. Dangote has benefitted immensely from the Nigerian state: free limestone, free land for cement factories, some of the cheapest non-unionized labor in the world, unlimited tax concessions, and numerous import waivers. Despite these advantages, what has been the result? The cement business remains a monopolistic cartel. Do Nigerians enjoy cheap cement today? The answer is a resounding no. Dangote was one of the first to hike cement prices, exercising his market dominance at the expense of Nigerian consumers.

Dangote Refineries and Energy Sector Monopoly

Now, you suggest we should hand over the energy sector, crucial for 300 million people, to a single man. This is both dangerous and short-sighted. Dangote’s decision to build a $19.5 billion refinery was his own business choice, and with any business venture comes inherent risks. He should have anticipated the possibility of buying crude at market rates and selling refined products in an open market. Expecting the NNPC to capitulate to his demands reeks of entitlement and undermines the very principles of fair competition and market dynamics.

Misplaced Sympathy and Entitlement

Your attempt to elicit sympathy by emphasizing Dangote’s massive investment ignores the fundamental fact that he should have considered market contingencies. Dangote should compete on equal footing with other businesses, not seek special treatment. Throwing a tantrum and trying to manipulate crude sales and petrol procurement from the NNPC signals a disturbing sense of entitlement.

Economic Independence and Fair Competition

Nigeria’s energy sector, like any other, must remain open to fair competition. Your call for protectionist measures to favor Dangote is a call to undermine the very fabric of a free market economy. The energy sector should be driven by innovation, efficiency, and competition, not by monopolistic practices.

A Call for Economic Justice

The days of allowing a few individuals to dominate critical sectors of our economy must end. We have seen what happens when monopolies are allowed to flourish – prices soar, quality suffers, and innovation stagnates. It’s time for Nigeria to embrace a truly competitive market, where every player has an equal opportunity to succeed.

Adesina, you call for support and protection of local industries, but true support lies in fostering a competitive environment where no single entity can dictate terms. We must not surrender our economic future to a few individuals. The Nigerian people deserve better – they deserve fair competition, better prices, and improved quality of goods and services.

Nigeria's economic landscape should be determined by open competition and market forces, not by entitlements and monopolistic control. It’s time for a new era of economic justice and fairness, where the interests of the many are prioritized over the privileges of the few.

Sincerely,
Malali.

Thanks for your beautiful contribution. Moreover it should be known that when you are hearing a supporting voice from an unconnected individual to a portent matter, just know that the connection is very strong but un discerned. The voices you are hearing supporting Dangote is not about the concern for the citizens welfare but a loud response to their interests. Dig dip and you will see that a commoner should not support one of the either sides because only them know the real reasons for their disagreement

Exactly!
Dangote refinery will ruin their subsidy scam reason they are trying to frustrate the man. Probably they never thought the refinery will be completed so soon. Now it is obvious why no refinery ever works in this country. It is a deliberate attempt to enable them continue with their subsidy scam & sell fuel at higher cost.
