2. If you want a good basketball structure in Nigeria, it might mean paying school fees of upwards of ten to twenty million naira, high taxes and so forth so that goverment at all levels can build enough basketball facilities for millions more kids to train and learn the game

It also means a well funded league which means you going to stadiums and paying high ticket fees to watch your local team which would be ploughed back into developmental facilities

It also means NUGA has a well structured league system and the NBBF has a good draft system. All that costs far more money than your sports ministry gets before looting.


( Not to defend tinubu, but under GEJ , the good men's team we sent to London Olympics was foreign based. Only one player was home based and even he got drafted into the NBA after the Olympics)

But it starts with more and more people even getting interested in the sport so that we can have a rich talent pool. In USA, a lot of kids in rural and urban areas play bball. Can you say the same about Nigeria?

In Japan the system works very well BUT the level of competition had hindered their football team (men) until they started exporting enough players overseas.

So it’s not about working systems , it’s about CULTURE.

They're really very good...the men team. They played against some of the best teams in the world and showed class...they even won against a much ranked Puerto rico🇵🇷 in their opening (90 -79) in a very tense March. They however lost gallantly to USA🇺🇸 (103-86)...they had had previously lost narrowly to the US in a pre Olympics friendly by 101-100 while they recently lost to Serbia by 96 -85 ...I watched this particular match and I was proud to be African...they matched top ranked Serbia skills for skills but came short in their technical depth even this win by the Serbians didn't tell the whole story as the crowd was up on their feet from 2ne quarter till the 4th..
I don't see an African team better than this South Sudan team now...they're world class!
