I saw a Nigerian wrote an article for the magazine. I thought to myself I could do the same. Then, I sent the editor an email, and the rest was history.

2015 via fiverr after a neighbor told me about the platform.

I registered and abandoned the platform only to get an order email notification 4 months after.

And I was like so this is real, omo see ginger. I delivered the $20 task and earned $16.

That was how I followed the platform up and made good 6 figures $$$$$$ off it.

I got mine through referals, cold dm's work though.

And this worked out too----> Let assume you a video editor and you focused on a certain niche, you narrow down to your target market, you know where they are, you could look through their video content to look for errors in 'em and correct it.

Once you are done with the correction, look for their(target client) email and send to them, although before putting up the video in the email, you would need to compliment them and below the complimentary words, you send the video.

If you are really good, if they like it, they might want to bring you in to work with them.

It does not only work for video editing gigs, it can work for all kinds of digital skills as well like digital marketing, Software development, cyber security and the likes.

I did few days ago and I got an interview invite slated for next week.

I am thinking of exploring the web for remote jobs once again. I have not really succeeded at it. I want to go into Freelance Writing and Editing. Cheers.

Hello, Nairalanders!

Nowadays, it's not uncommon to see Nigerians with digital skills sign up on freelance platforms where they meet foreign companies to work for one and earn in USD. These digital skills include writing, digital marketing, affiliate marketing, software development, website development, online consultancy, etc.

However, these freelance marketplaces are increasingly becoming saturated, making it extremely difficult to land freelance projects.

Some of us were fortunate to earn some good money when things were better and have tried to use the opportunity to switch to a full-time remote role but it has been extremely difficult.

Have you been fortunate enough to get a full-time remote role from Nigeria? If so, how did you do it? What tricks worked for you? Please share them with us.

Took apprenticeship for 3 months (4 of them but landed job with 1) with a client on Acadium (Note: if you want to join this platform, your profile must be set up professionally and tailored, else you will be rejected and have to wait for 6 months for another profile review. It became strict a year after I joined because people were not taking clients seriously). Got 6 months contract the first time (from one of the apprenticeship positions I took), I am on the 4th renewal at the moment.

This is not a get-rich-quick scheme and without sacrifice. I took additional Certification courses to boost my profile. I have Google Certification and HubSpot as well.

I just got a remote job, though it's a contract. The pay is not bad because it's even higher than salary in Nigeria. This because I will be paid in dollars. My friend in Nigeria gave me the information to apply for the job.

You got it from Nigeria?

Someone will hustle to get a remote job as a newbie, and MTN and epileptic power supply will now become the weapons fashioned against you.

Please, I'm a professional Virtual Administrative Assistant and could really use some referrals.

It's sad
Well am an IT guy and also fix and do maintenance

I got my first contract remote work via Freelancer (the company's representative scouted for talents on the platform). It was exciting working as part of a team rather than the usual short-term gigs on the platform. That opportunity took me off Freelancer till date.
I've gotten others via Indeed, LinkedIn, referrals etc. My current gig is via a referral (a client I've worked with on Freelancer reached out that one of his contacts is hiring, and he thinks I'll be a good fit).
