Mr Minister keep your lying mouth, we know the minimal increase in power generation is as a result of increase in water level that increased the supply from hydro station to the national greed and not because of any intervention.

At the peak of heat period next year when huoseholds need home gadgets like freezer and air-conditioner, we would see if transformers wonts start blowing up and national grid start collapsing, that is when we would be able to access your acievement.

But for now just keep shut and pray Tinubu do not replace you
water level has nothing to do with it.... 80% of our electricity is generated using thermal plants.... Some of una no jst like good news at all

What a dumb comment. So the 40% electricity users are not Nigerians, they are from Niger

Jesus Christ. They didn't teach you set in school? Simple mathematics...

All electricity users in Nigeria are Nigerians, but not all Nigerians are electricity users.

There are Nigerians who aren't electricity users because they're off grid. They're not connected to NEPA. Only 11 million Nigerians are connected to the grid. That is, only 11 million Nigerians are electricity users. Of the 11 million electricity users, 40% of them are what the minister says have 20 hours light.

40% of 11 million is 4.4 million.

Do you now understand the simple maths? Or should I break it down further for you?

Power in my area in Lagos has recently improved. A few days ago, I discovered that we were moved from Band C to Band A.

The cost of power for me is now more than 4 times what I used to pay.

It is expensive.

■ Electricity tariff is expensive all over the world. Would Nigerians prefer not to have electricity when it’s needed or manage their use of electricity as it is done all over the world, while paying the fair price? The 40% enjoying the electricity are complaining that meter is running. Nigerians have been so used to cheap things that they don’t want to pay commensurate cost for services being consumed.
Stop arguing Odi abeg! Can 40% of Nigerian households afford Band A is the question I asked. This shalaye nonsense no enter at all. undecided

CAPITALBEE:
■ Electricity supply has improved in some quarters in Nigeria tbh, we can't neglect the fact that increased gas supply to the very many thermal plants has contributed immensely to this improved supply (Only a few percentage of the electricity generated come from the hydroelectric power plants - for those mentioning rainy season) - The segregation of consumers into different bands, mass metering agenda, and the imposition of a bilateral agreement between the discos and gencos is part of the few changes the ministry of power has initiated over the years to remove notable bottlenecks and further spur improvement in the sector.
👉🏻 To the assertion of the Minister of Power that 40% of electricity consumers enjoy not less than 20hrs power supply - A report from statistica says the total number of electricity consumers registered with the eleven discos stands at 12.6million as of September 2023. Given this, only about 5.04million consumers across the country are been referred to here.
👉🏻 This in itself is still very poor given how much improvement is ideal in the sector taken cognizance of the number of Nigerian homes and businesses that need to enjoy steady power supply to spur economic growth.
Data source: https://www.statista.com/statistics/1306073/registered-electricity-customers-in-nigeria-by-distribution-company/#:~:text=As%20of%20September%202023%2C%20over,as%20of%20the%20said%20period.
So, 40% of Nigerian households with access to electricity is just 5.04 million and not even 10.6 million households, and we are to believe these particular 5.04 million households can enjoy 20 hours of electricity per day on the total 5500MW of electricity generated by Nigeria each day? undecided

11 million homes. Not 11 million people. You realise that more than one person can stay in a home right?

And unlike you, I am not making this up: https://guardian.ng/business-services/nigerias-grid-connected-electricity-customers-hit-11-27-million/

I know you can't read, so I'll post the excerpt for you.

Electricity consumers connected to the grid network in Nigeria have increased to 11.27 million, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) said yesterday.

NBS, in a report, said that the number of consumers moved from 11.06 million in the fourth quarter of 2022 to 11.27 million in the first quarter of 2023, recording a 1.89 per cent increase.

Why are you exhibiting your ignorance with confidence? Most of the generation comes from Gas not hydro and there are significant improvements you can track disco load here https://niggrid.org/DisCoLoadProfile
I thought your link will show me details of how gas are been used to generate those electricity at various hydropower stations but all I see here are details of distribution of generated electricity to different locations.
I won't go low to your level, next time be armed with fact before you throw abuses to people. It's never a must you comment. I give you this first abuse since it is your first mistake.
Just I have said, let me help you small.
There are 25 thermal power plant in Nigeria and 24 operate on gas turbine power plant. There combined power generation is not up to half of 8 hydropower plant generation for the country. For the avoidance of doubt here are the generation from each thermal hydropower plant in Nigeria.
Kainji (760 MW), Jebba (576 MW), Shiroro (600 MW), Egbin (1100 MW), Sapele (1020 MW), Delta (900MW) Afam IV-V (776MW), Geregu (414MW).
Meanwhile, these gas turbines are mostly located in SE and SS where there are high deposit of gas.
Besides, your link even substantiated what I said about the figure the minister threw out. He said 5,500MW and this record said 4,900 or there about. The very big question is, how will 4,900MW of electricity provide over 20hrs electricity per day for 40% electricity consumers in Nigeria. Meaning Nigeria will be needing less than 15,000MW for over 20hrs electricity per day in a country with over 200m people. South Africa is generating 42,000MW for 63m citizens and they are still generating more because the light is still insufficient to cover the consumers. You see that there are times you need to use your common sense rather than been a zombie to those taking you for granted.

I have already replied you on your misplaced idea.
Now, I posed to you in one of my comments, as you people claimed there is an improved electricity and you enjoy over 20hrs electricity per day, how many MW has been added to the power generated and how much distributed successfully?
Before Buhari left as at May 18, 2023 estimated peak generation was 4,725.60MW and lowest generation at 2,674MW. And as at that time the issue of light was still a big problem in the nation.
Now that the power generated is 5,500MW and the amount distributed is less than 5,000MW. How would that give 40% of consumers 20hrs electricity per day when on record the country will be needing not less than 40,000MW of electricity for consumers connected to the grid to have stable electricity.

By this 40%, it mean the country will only be needing less than 15,000MW which is in contrast to the estimated number that can power and give stable light to consumers already connected to the Nigerian grid.

I made a classical example of South Africa. SA have power generated of 42,000MW with 63m as population but they are still not enjoying 24hrs stable electricity with that huge generation but Nigeria generating 5,500MW claimed that 40% of consumers are enjoying over 20hrs electricity per day. It means that fewer Nigerians are connected to the grid and many Nigerians are still living in stone age and light are not connected to them. We can safely say, Nigeria as a country is a still underdeveloped nation.
This is just simple education and arithmetic but as some of you cannot reason beyond what is thrown at you people, you take everything hook line and sinker.

He didn't say 40% of Nigeria's population, he said 40% of Nigerian Electricity Consumers. The title of this post is either a click bait or sheer ignorance on the subject matter.

According to the regulator (NERC), as of July 2024, Nigeria has 13,293,739 electricity customers. This count is not per capita. It is a count of verified customers connected to the National Grid.

On the 20Hours p.d claim, the minister simply referred to the population of Band A customers which is significantly increasing by the day. While the 20hours of power supply p.d is not absolute, it is however empirical.

Let's cut the Honorable Minister some slack.

What sort of nonsensical analysis is this? You’ve refused to answer any question—yet you’re arguing with facts & people’s reality.
