Help!!! My sister has been admitted to a US school to start in the fall and her I-20 has already been issued. However, she had applied for a tourist visa with my mum last year to attend my brother's wedding this June. It's too late to remove her from the tourist visa application and their visa interview is in a few days. We are worried that the consular officer might notice that her name is already on SEVIS and might deny her a tourist visa, probably affecting her ability to get a student visa in July.

What are her options now? Should she attend the tourist visa interview? If she's denied a tourist visa in April, can she still successfully apply for a student visa in July? We are all so confused right now and any piece of advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Is like what you are running for will still be the way out. You mean you don't even have SAT for the UG you took to the embassy. Since you have 2:2, why can't you do the gre and be on the better side with the graduate school and embassy.

Her name has been submitted so what is the essence of medicine after death? She should go for her tourist visa application. I pray she gets it and whichever the case may be, when it is time for the student application, she should go for it too. Moreover, she has only gotten I-20 but never start the student visa application process. So, the only record she has with the embassy is just that of the tourist application. Best of luck all.

Plus you would still need to do one of those 2 exams to be on a safe side with the Visa Interviewer (that's what I have learnt from previous posts here). . . So just do the gre and apply to some schools

Since there is no one to respond to my last post I guess everyone is a jambite on this thread lol .
Please everyone its time to make a right decision and I want people in the house to help me make a right one too , I have 2 admission now , the first tuition is $25000 per year and was not giving any scholarship or student grant but was told there is going to be available student grants for international student in the second year . MY second school is costing me $38000 but I was giving internationals student grant marking 50% off from the total cost of attendance . Now I that I have interview in June I am wondering on which I-20 to go with for my interview that will earnestly approve me for visa. . And also the first school is affordable for me but since I have been denied visa 3 times I don't know which one should go with . Please evryone just help me make right decision , both people that already gone tru this and wise propective applicants .

yes u can so far u can meet up with their fall deadline for application and oh the deadlines are not d same o. Each colleges have their own deadlines. Am going for undergrad for fall n God gave me admission.

1) Have u taken the required standard tests?

If no, then work towards next year's spring/fall.

If yes, it's a bit too late but not impossible, moreover your chances of admission would be slim as most deadlines are about this time of d yr for fall. work towards spring.

2) You may have to search that for yourself. Infact for some schs, you wouldnt know application fee could be waived until you apply (eg wvu). so u need to do your research. It's simple google! and my advice is, probably u know dis already, do not apply to schools based on application fee waiver only cos may miss out on the real goodies. Yes it may take some pains to find what you want but the most important thing's dat u smile in the end.

Like square said, I support. Don't because of N15K application fee (highest I paid to a school in TX) lose out funding that could be up to N2.5M or more from other schools. Shinning you eyes well well.

I have been following this tread with keen interest, I hope someone will help with a few questions I have to ask

1. Am trying to apply for a student visa using OND and my waec results

2. I already have a degree in statistics but desire to study Computer science at degree level, please note the OND is in computer science

3. Year of graduation is sometime in 2001, meanwhile I am working and in my 30s

4. Is there a possibility for me to get a visa already the school has confirmed to me that they have received my college transcript

Sometimes it's hard answering your questions. Yea, nothing is imposssible. About choice of school for your interview, you just go with the one you know is more affordable for you.

jimtosam and others using gmail account. Gmail won't allow me to send you the material that simulates the real test conditions. It's better you get me a yahoo mail. I strongly recommend that material for anyone preparing for the new GRE. I would be waiting to get the yahoo id from you. Also, I don't support you going for interview with another statement of account other than that on your I-20. You can ask your school to make you another I-20 that carries the name of your choice person. Cheers!
