This is very sad. How can humans be this cruel to their fellow humans? What is the wilting old bum Martin Elechi doing about this? I really hope the EBSG can find a way to resolve this conflict that has emerged within its indigenes. |

Three die as violence rocks two Ogun communities By Ademola Oni Font size: Decrease font Enlarge font 0 Another round of bloody violence broke out in Ota, Ogun State, on Tuesday in which no fewer than three people were feared dead while several others were injured. The clash was allegedly over the ownership of some parcels of land in Ijoko and Sango-Ota. The disturbance, our correspondent learnt in Abeokuta on Tuesday, erupted as the warring parties were returning from the High Court, Ota, where a judgment was to be given over the enforcement of the order of the Supreme Court, ceding the massive land to the family of one Matanmi. The violence occurred shortly before the Ogun State Government declared a dusk- to-dawn curfew in Ado Odo town over a reported communal unrest in the community. A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Gbemi Onakoya, in Abeokuta on Tuesday, said that the tensed situation in the community had necessitated the declaration of the curfew from 6pm to 6am. The contenders are fighting over the stool of the Olofin of Ado Ado. Previous violent clashes had claimed lives while valuable properties had been destroyed in Ijoko and Ota in connection with the moves by the Matanmi family to enforce the judgment of the apex court. Hundreds of house owners in the town had also relocated over the re-curring violence in Ijoko. Details of the fracas still remained sketchy as at the time of writing the report, it was, however, learnt that the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Musa Daura, had relocated to Ota to monitor the situation and ensure that the escalating violence was curtailed. Guns were said to be booming from different parts of the town, a development a police source said indicated that the parties had prepared for the violence regardless of the outcome of the judgment, which was eventually adjourned. “These people could not have entered the court room with their weapons, but those weapons were used when the parties clashed on the streets,” the source said. The Police Public Relations Officers at the state command, Mr. Olumuyiwa Adejobi, confirmed the clash in Ota, admitting that only one person was killed. “Several people were injured and they have been taken to the hospital for treatment. Only one person was killed, not three. We are fully on ground to curtail any violence. The CP is already in Ota over the crisis,” he said. The Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Alhaji Lamidi Odulawa, said the warring parties in Ado Odo had started attacking themselves in the night, which he noted could only be curtailed if the cufew was enforced. “The tension in the town is too much. People are now attacking themselves in the night. We have asked the police to move in. The Supreme Court had already given a judgment in favour of the sitting Olofin, Chief Lateef Adeniran, and nobody can reverse the ruling of the Supreme Court. “With the police in place, we will be able to know those behind the crisis,” said Odulawa, who added that the state had mediated in the crisis and regretted that the parties had ignored the intervention of the state government. |

Its on Sky News as well. The Ezza and Ezillo communities have been locked in a land tussle for a very long time now. The fight rears its head once in a while. I guess the agitation and anger from all the killings going on in the North have reminded them of their age long tussle and they have renewed killing one another. Everyone has gone mad. People are warning those travelling to be aware of that area as they are known to attack anyone and turn innocents to scapegoats. |

~Bluetooth: Nope. But when you have a shaky 83 year old man who would rather spend the state's monthly allocation on Viagra; as opposed to actually taking advantage of Ebonyi's vast agricultural, eco-friendly, Obudu-like landscapes, what more should you expect? |

Oyo pilgrims' welfare board members in bloody clash *Board chairman beaten to unconscious Friday, December 30, 2011 Members of theOyo StatePilgrims' Welfare Board (Muslim Wing), on Wednesday, engaged one another in a bloody clash during which the chairman, Alhaji Akewugberu Taofeek, was beaten unconscious. advertisement AdChoices Nigerian Tribune learnt, on Thursday in Ibadan, that the chairman and his deputy, Alhaji Abass Oloko, had been at each other's throat since their appointment into the board by the present administration. Their rivalry, Nigerian Tribune learnt, was exhibited before their departure for hajj and even while in the holy land. The source further disclosed that the board chairman had summoned a meeting of board members with the intention of briefing them on the last hajj and the preparations for the new year. The vice chairman, the source said, complained that he was not officially informed about the planned meeting and, therefore, stormed the board's secretariat at Olodo with people suspected to be thugs and asked them to seal off the offices to prevent the meeting from taking place. It took the intervention of a top government official in the state before the offices were reopened. According to the source, another meeting had been fixed for Thursday before the attack at the peace meeting. The matter was reported at the State Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), while the board chairman was treated at the Adeoyo General Hospital. When contacted the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Femi Okanlawon, confirmed the incident and said that it was being investigated. Efforts to get the board chairman to speak on the incident proved abortive, as his telephone lines were switched off |

~Bluetooth: The gully erosion thing is only chiefly prominent in Anambra, Abia, Imo (western), and some parts of Enugu. Guy, Ebonyi is not what you think it is. Far from it! From the huge salt deposits at its river banks to the extremely fertile land (like Benue), that place is a massive economic goldmine that is unfortunately wasting away! Their only problem be say people no too send them in terms of urbanization. Cuz if it actually had a governor with an IQ atleast above 14, that state would be feeding a decent percentage of this country with ease. Just add a single agricultural factory in there and watch things fall in place. |
